- Airbus A380 is the largest passenger aircraft ever. It has truly been a technological marvel that has been the outcome involved pan-European cooperation. It can accomodate upto 825 pasengers can fly upto 14800km in a single stretch. Passengers loved it. Still, the aircraft was a commercial failure. Why?
എക്കാലത്തെയും വലിയ പാസഞ്ചർ വിമാനമാണ് Airbus A380. വിവിധ യൂറോപ്യൻ രാജ്യങ്ങളുടെ സഹകരണത്തിന്റെ ഫലമായുണ്ടായ ഒരു സാങ്കേതിക വിസ്മയമാണിത്. 825 യാത്രക്കാർക്ക് 14800 കിലോമീറ്റർ വരെ ഒറ്റയടിക്ക് പറക്കാൻ കഴിയും. യാത്രക്കാർക്ക് വളരെ പ്രിയമേറിയതായിരുന്നു ഈ വിമാനം. എന്നിട്ടും വാണിജ്യപരമായി ഈ വിമാനം ഒരു പരാജയമായിരുന്നു. എന്തുകൊണ്ട്?

ഇതിൽ Rolls Royce എൻജിനിലെ ലൂബ്രിക്കേഷൻ ഓയിൽ പൈപ്പിന്റെ രൂപകൽപ്പനയിൽ വന്ന പിഴവാണ് അപകടത്തിനു കാരണമായത്. മർദ്ദം താങ്ങാനാവാതെ പൈപ്പ് പൊട്ടി ഓയിൽ ചോരുകയും ഓയിലിൽ തീപടർന്ന് അമിത വേഗതയിൽ കറങ്ങാൻ തുടങ്ങിയ ടർബൈൻ ഡിസ്ക് പൊട്ടിത്തെറിക്കുകയുമായിരുന്നു. പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ച ഡിസ്കിന്റെ ഭാഗങ്ങൾ തുളച്ചുകയറി ഇടതുചിറകിൽ ദ്വാരം വീണ് ഇന്ധനച്ചോർച്ച ഉണ്ടാകുകയും വിമാനത്തിന്റെ ഫ്യൂസിലേജിന്റെ ഇടതുവശത്തുള്ള മെയിൻ വയറിങ്ങും അതിന്റെ ബാക്കപ്പ് വയറിങ്ങും അറ്റുപോകുകയും ചെയ്തു.
ഇടതു വശത്തിന്റെ (Port Side ) നിയന്ത്രണം ഏറെക്കുറെ നഷ്ടമായ വിമാനത്തെ വളരെ പണിപ്പെട്ടാണ് പൈലറ്റുമാർ നിലത്തിറക്കിയത്. തുടർന്ന് ഈ വിമാനത്തിന്റെയും മറ്റ് A 380 കളുടെയും എൻജിനുകൾ അഴിച്ചു പരിശോധിച്ചപ്പോൾ കൂടുതൽ റോൾസ് റോയ്സ് എൻജിനുകളിൽ ഇതേ ഡിസൈൻ പിഴവ് കണ്ടെത്തി.എൻജിൻ അലയൻസ് നിർമിച്ച എൻജിനുകളിൽ ഈ പ്രശ്നമില്ലായിരുന്നു.റോൾസ് റോയ്സിന്റേതു മാത്രമായ ഒരു Design flaw ആയിരുന്നു അപകടകാരണം.

ഒരിക്കൽ യാത്ര ചെയ്തു A380 യിൽ.. ഇതുവരെ സഞ്ചരിച്ചതിൽ ഏറ്റവും ബെസ്റ്റ്.. മറ്റൊരു ഫ്ലൈറ്റിലും പിന്നെ ആ ഫീൽ കിട്ടിയിട്ടില്ല.❤

Marvelous engineering a 380
Good video. Not many channels in Malayalam that discuss such topics. Apart from the points you mentioned, the A380 is hard to maintain. Some low level structural checks may take up to 3 months, which is lost revenue for the airline. Add to this the fact that the A380 cannot be re marketed after its economic life is completed. The costs for re marketing is simply huge. However, the aircraft is one of the safest in the world. One may think that 4 engines will add speed but in fact it is slower than most long haul aircraft. One interesting fact about the A380 is that during its initial years passengers complained about the lack of noise in the cabin as the soundproofing was too good. Airbus had to introduce aircraft noise through the speakers to make the cabin a bit "noisier".

Flew 6 times in EK 380. To Düsseldorf and Beijing, ok let me correct you the main reason was Emirates cancelled there several orders and didn’t place new orders for A380 in 2018 . Since one of there main customer ditched the plan Airbus decided to stop ( main reason) there were other challenges like operating costs as u mentioned.
Hello, there is a twist to this. Emirates said they will go with the order only if Airbus continued production of A380s till 2027 so that there is a second hand market for their A380s. However, Airbus couldn't promise that as ensuring that would mean Airbus would have to idle their production line. This would have meant even higher losses for Airbus. So, Emirates' decision to cancel A380 order was in response to Airbus not having any other customer.
We cannot say all this in the video and make the script less interesting.

A380 is a giant, future orders were stopped due to lack of buyers. Although the orders until 2021 will be delivered. Now a days buyers are more interested in A350 family like 350XWB

The last nail in the coffin is the relaxation of ETOPS rule. It enabled twin engine planes to conduct services across atlantic. It helped especially the 787. As twin engines are much more economical to operate the demand for A-380 vanished
*How ETOPS rules affected A380 Aircrafts? ETOPS first edition was introduced in 1976, A300 was the first aircraft model introduced with ETOPS, revised ETOPS-120 was in 1985 with B767-200, Lockheed L-1011 Tristar and A310. The ETOPS-180 was also introduced in 1985. B777 was the first aircraft flown with 180 ratings in 1996. And 240 was introduced with A330 in April 2007. The first route operated using A380 was Singapore-Sydney in November 2007..*

@@muhammadshibili so what happened??? Just think about it also bro.... and it was not only a softaware issue, Bigger diametre engines are fitted on the wings of 737-800 without altering the design of the whole aircraft.... So few 100 s of lifes has sacrisficed ,
@@anwarozr82 bro, same CFM56 engines are also using in A320s.Note that A320 and 737 series has same dia fuselages.
@@muhammadshibiliBoth are using CFM56 Engines is ok, but actually what boeing done on 737 max? They have just fitted that huge diametre engines on old frame of 737-800 without making any structure/design change on wings and also they placed this engine by adjusting the ground to engine body height only(just by uping engines above the wings just a bit), that makes 737max a change in 'lift force' ... also malfunctioning of 'Angle of air attack sensor' and on auto pilot system too caused these aircrashes... and one more thing boeing done that, they have hided the chances for this type of malfunctioning of "senseors" even with the Pilots... 😑
