I remember staying up late to watch it when I was in 6th grade. I didn’t really like baseball but nothing else was on and when they announced it it was a moment I’ll never forget. It was the last time America truly felt United
Back when when we were unity as county of every single race. I remember being grateful for everyone around me and we didn't have social media dividing us all.
Yes it was. The first game at Shea - for ANY sport in NYC - was very sparse. I wish I went to that game. BTW - this was the game where Mike Piazza hit the home run that started the healing in NY. Sadly, Ken Burns ignored this in his updated Baseball documentary. The Braves were all class that night and took the loss with grace.
That 100 loss Pirate team had decent attendance that year due to the opening of the new stadium but the fear was real when only 6,000 people showed up for the Mets final homestead at Shea against the Pirates. Those were lows that the Mets hadn't seen since the late 70's.
I respect our National Anthem and that duo singing it and for their service... but, did they not have time to rehearse it together at least a couple times to at least sing in tune with each other???
@That Flippin Guy Odd response and misuse of the Karen meme. They were both obviously singers albeit amateur but so what, no problem. They had good vocals. Which is why I wondered why they wouldn't have rehearsed it together at least once, if not a few times, to identify and immediately work on the out of tune and out of sync parts. So, to answer your question... it was ok with me but it could've _easily_ been so much better. Is that ok with you, dummy? You dummy.
@That Flippin Guy I didn't complain about either of their vocal ranges. I didn't "deflect". I _directly addressed_ the very thing you had an issue with. Explain exactly what you think I'm deflecting and I will directly respond to it. You can add "deflection" to your list of not understanding and misuse of relatively simple concepts.
Another moron comparing apples and oranges. Yeah maybe they spent live in a wheelchair but you be in jail for denying a constitution right. But like I said you are using a national tragedy to push a agenda against kneeling for the anthem that was in protest to what they felt was injustice. Bunch of tough guys with negative comments. Lets remember and get along. That goes much further in keeping things like this from happening. @LoveMacheen HTX he’s probably talking about all the protests and how america is divided
Nothing will top the USA chants when Bin Laden got killed. That was a glorious feeling seeing that on tv during the baseball game
Was at the game at 11 years old. Craziest and proudest moment of my life.
especially since it came during the Phillies game vs. the Mets with the score tied at 1 in the 9th.
