My dad bought me this game when it came out. I was 13. We played this for hours. How he managed to have the energy to work two jobs and be present every day amazes me. I’m a dad now and am only beginning to realize how incredible he really was. I miss him every day.

I remember playing slug fest 2004. That was nuts. Beaning too much could lead to the batter catching on fire and charging the mound, the pitcher could win the fight leading to him catching on fire.
I got an infield hit one time (which perfectly mirrored how I played baseball irl) and my friends were like “of course you would manage that in this game.”

It’s worth mentioning that the commentators are Tim Kitzrow (of NBA Jam and NFL Blitz fame) and radio personality Kevin Matthews (as his Jim Shorts alter ego).
One of the best parts was the random codes before the game. Unlimited turbo, secret ballparks and my favorite.. tiny heads on all the players lol.

As a baseball and Midway fanatic, the MLB Slugfest series is one of the best things ever created.
Loved the gameplay and commentary in this game. They don’t make them like they used to. Also had ‘cheat codes’ to play as animals and you can also play unique stadiums such as underwater in Atlantis
As a native Pittsburgher, the nostalgic looking at that lineup had me in all the feels. Some of those players were fan favorites...
As someone who enjoyed pitching in this game, the beam came in CLUTCH when seeing certain players 😂😂 I don't think I ever pitched to a good 5% of the players in this game 😅
This is my favorite baseball game of all time. Being able to punch the first baseman so he drops the ball, the power ups, and the commentary was gold.
This is a game I definitely want remastered or brought back. I remember when I was a kid, my youth baseball team went to our state tournament and I brought this game to our hotel. Everyone on the team was taking turns playing, it was such a blast.

I LOVED the Slugfest series. It was so much freaking fun! Wish they'd bring something like that back as that arcade gameplay was legendary. The Bigs was the closest we got for that type of game and I also loved that game too.

This game was one of my favorites growing up. There are tons of special unlockable characters like sub zero and scorpion from Mortal Kombat
Midway made some of the best sports games ever to exist. NFL Blitz, NBA Jam, even the hockey sequel NHL Hitz is just as chaotic. Hilarious commentators, good looking women, and enough insanity to keep you entertained. It's how games should be.
Of all the crazy shit in this game, giving Mo Vaughn a 7 speed might just be the craziest
If you get the controls down, this game can be so fun & you can make some really entertaining plays. I remember playing it & you can unlock Rocket Park, the Roman Coliseum, & others, plus make turbo dives where you catch a fly ball & turbo throw it back in, all in one motion, crazy good stuff. I played Slugfest 06 on the ps2 when I was a kid, I loved the game… and in that one I remember if someone got hit, the hitter would charge the mound and there’d be a fist fight between pitcher and hitter, awesome game tbh

I played this game for a long time. It was so over the top and the best commentary ever to me. I didn't mind the repeating phrases either.

You should definitely look into playing one of The Bigs games!! There are two, very arcadey and fun. Lots of fun stuff to happen in them with turbo, bean balls, etc

I remember when this game came out and I wanted to play so bad because it was like NFL blitz but with baseball. So I rented it from Blockbuster when I was at my buddy's house one night. I remember I was playing the home run Derby and he had a brand new computer so I put the controller down and was watching him play some game he was playing and the ball continued to be thrown in the home run Derby but no one was swinging cuz I didn't have the controller in my hand. And the commentators started to insult me for not swinging. I forget what the first thing they said was, but the second line was hey kid with the controller you ARE UP. TO. BAT. haha hilarious

My twin sister and I would lose soooooo many hours playing this and Lego Star Wars. Before each game started in slugfest we would mash our controllers hoping that we would get one of the special teams (not even sure that’s how it worked but that’s how we did it) My favorite was the bulls and hers subzero. The best baseball video games ever created

You can bean hitters head if you hold up on the bean pitch. You can throw fouls holding full directions in any direction. Not sure on that one, its been almost 2 decades since i played this.

if you hold Y when running up to a base. they put their leg up to kick out the ball. also when you bean someone you can hold up. for the head. down for the legs. to bring down speed or batting.
