NHL Hitz 2002 was my favorite game ever. The franchise was so much fun. My friends and I all had this team that the starters were maxed out and everyone else was just horrible. Made it so much fun when you lost a fight. Also the goat nickname that still never leaves my head is 101011
Hitz is 100% my favorite hockey/sports game when I was in middle school. My brothers and I played this for countless hours. We curated the soundtrack ourselves from burned cds onto our Xbox, and to this day whenever I hear Brittany Spears Toxic, or Weapon of Choice by Fatboy Slim I think of being in my childhood basement crushing fools in Hitz.
I am not ashamed to admit I played the 2002 version of this game on my gamecube for hundreds of hours as a kid. Still have it, and still play it from time to time.
Now this is a game from my childhood. Rebought it a couple years ago when I was building my Gamecube collection back up. I'm not a hockey guy at all but this is so much fun.
Absolutely loved this game and the franchise mode was amazing. I was the Philly Cheeseheads. I loved how the opponents got harder as you went up each level.
I love this game. Probably one of my favorite GameCube games outside of NFL street. A couple tips that make it more fun for me. Player lock the best trucking player, it’s the easiest way to get the puck. 😂 shoot one timers by hitting shoot as the pass is coming across the goal, you can still control the players you aren’t to pass and shoot with the same buttons. And lastly fights, just spam A and you’ll RARELY lose. Oh! And please play the mini games also. They are amazing.
The arcade-style craze of this small cubby-hole of time really is quite entertaining. Outside of indie developers we really don't see games like this anymore, and there's just something innocent about jacking up the chaos factor this high and having a blast. And yet it still looks and feels like hockey, even if it's not hugely realistic.
My brother and i played this game so much. Franchise mode is so good! I actually downloaded PCSX2 and played this with him last weekend and it's still a lot of fun!
So the faceoffs are a rock paper scissors game. They go low, you go high. They go high, you punch. They punch, you go low. Also, if you grab the player for the final punch, you get animated finishing moves, like grabbing them by the neck and throwing them. Unreal game, play more!!!

It's where NBA Jam got a lot of it's inspiration. Also, Deke is pronounced exactly as it's spelled, not deck lol. It's the hockey equivalent of breaking someone's ankles. Great video!
Super Blood Hockey is a great hockey arcade game if you haven't played it. It's about a hockey league of convicts where they can injure or kill each other in games. In season mode, the deaths stick, so you have to bring in new players. It's an 8 bit style so it should be fine for RUclips.
One of the NHL games I think 2002-04 in one of them there was a Zamboni mode. My friends and I were renting a place and we played for two weeks. Every night someone would get a little higher 90%, 92%. Best time ever. I don’t know why it was so intense.
I remember in the 90’s… the nhl would highlight the puck with streaks, on a special game.. blue for passes and red for shots. But it was so slow the streaks were way behind the puck. Still less disturbing then all the ads thrown everywhere nowadays
Deke is pronounced "D-eek". It essentially means to fake out a player on the opposing team when you have the puck. In basketball parlance to "break their ankles." Midway made good stuff back in the day.
