Even though I started out as a pianist/keyboardist at 12 years old I saw Louis Johnson perform and have had a love affair with the bass since. My dad told me when I started playing bass that the advantage was it's one of the two instruments you CAN'T do without and HAVE to have so you should always have a gig. The other is the drums (which my younger brother was a prodigy at). The disadvantage is that even when someone else makes a blunder everyone will look at the bass player whether it was him/her or not. LOL! I guess it's the foundation of the music for a reason. Kinda imagine your home without any floors. If all the other things have nothing to stand on and hold them up it all comes tumbling down. So I let any aspiring bassist know the importance of their instrument and it's role in the music. You're correct, aside from a few phenoms like (Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke, Michael Manring, Billy Sheehan, etc..) the instrument doesn't get the fame and notoriety guitarists and vocalists do. So I thank you very much for your appreciation of the instrument.

I still like the whole thing, especially the bass playing and layering But the fact remains she is totally off key in a few places. And also when she gets to the higher notes she starts to pinch her voice nasally.

It was the first song I sang in front of a large crowd. It was my junior year in college. Later on I went on to sing for pay during 30 years.
