This lady paid the home owners mortgage for 14 years probably paying off the whole house price in that time and the home owner / landlord decides to evict this family 4 weeks before Christmas 😩🥺 could have gave notice in December and asked them to leave in January... Disgusting.

Happening to me at the moment. I have until the middle of Dec to get out or it goes to court and then they pad lock the doors. All because they want to renovate the place and make more money. They were fine with raising the rent when they bought it in 2022 but now, we paid off their bank loan; they want me out. Happy holidays.

This is a problem here in Canada as well. It was 20 degrees celsius below zero last night. There are 22 homeless encampments in my small city here in Ontario. There is simply no affordable housing available. The average rent for a tiny one bedroom here is between 1700 and two thousand dollars a month. This does not include utilities like electricity. Old age pension is around 1300 dollars a month, which is taxed. Only the wealthy can afford decent housing here. The wealthy also pay the least amount of tax. It is obscene and utterly unacceptable.

People need to think harder about how many kids they have. Life is no longer stable enough to count on a partner or an income.

This is what happens when you live in a benefit culture. The hard working taxpayer picks up the bill. I think Reform UK led by Nigel Farage could have an answer. They are proposing you can earn £20,000 before income tax is due. £120 take home every month more than at present. Could be an inducement to work for a living instead of scrounging off of others.

Your simple. Do you want the next generation to completely stop having children unless they are in the top 1% of wealth or fortunate enough to be born into wealth and owned homes? Private renting = lifelong insecurity with regards to housing. And you can't save for a home or stay debt free whilst working and paying 48% of your income on someone else's mortgage. Too hard to rent too hard to buy. I'm writing this from a twin room I'm sharing with my 16 year old son after being made homeless by a private landlord whom I was loyal to for 6 years. 2 rental increases he couldn't get us out because I payed. He didn't do repairs adequately and served section 21 2 days after my son's birthday. 2 months in and minimum of 4 months before will be housed and cannot refuse anything offered. No choice with our own lives. And don't say "work harder, save" that's just insulting to most of us in this same situation. All this nonsense about where are the fathers well it's also working couples with kids British families sofa surfing or in temporary accommodation.

I work for a charity beds are not allowed to be taken unless they are fire retardant and virtually new same with sofas same with bedding nearly all donated bedding is put in the skip

If the grandparents also rent, they can’t just have their children and grandchildren live with them, or the whole lot could find themselves evicted. That’s what happened in one documentary. A homeless family was staying with a friend. The landlord found out and threatened eviction.

I don't understand people throwing furniture away. It's sad she couldn't keep it, but donate it, for goodness sake.
There are many associations that will take your furniture, no need to throw it away.
Too many rules, bedding must be brand new and all items must be fire retardant so most charities skip donations
This is not only a council problem but from the landlords, with their ridiculous rent prices and a minimum of 40k yearly income requirement, it doesn’t matter if you have a job , if you are on benefits they won’t rent their property to you , they only one professionals or a couple ( no children)

We moved about, we stay in homes doing pet sits, work remotely as a software developer.
Every single description that lady gave of temp accommodation and not having your own home and moving about - applies to us. She's wrong. It's about having a routine and a plan and working towards something. It's those factors that make life rough, not the moving or housing issues. We have a fantastic life. Perspective, goals and drive.

This administration is putting many families in difficult situations. A lot of people are financially struggling to live, put a roof over their head and put food on the table. Things are getting worse these days, if you don't find means of multiplying your money you might wake up a day to realise you didn't plan well for yourself and family…

To blame is, mass uncontrolled immigration, the decline of general morality in society, the decline and frowned upon nuclear family model, the single parent epidemic, the decline in economic GDP and above all successive governments who have created a welfare system where by British people are de incentivised to work, whilst importing cheap foreign labour to subsidise the short fall. This has been going on for years and has had a detrimental effect on social housing. No government will ever get on top of this if you keep importing almost 800,000 people a year into this country. Devastating the countryside with low grade architecture that will look abysmal within the first ten years.

I'm a British born Asian I was near this situation 4 years ago never missed rent payment but landlord wanted to give the house to council to get more rent for migrants etc I took on another 2 jobs refused my lad to be stuck in this situation yes I pay higher rent now for the same type of house but will take on many jobs so my lad don't suffer I feel for people in these videos and yes some dad's need to step knowing your child is going through this is a shame , bless these support groups who help

Councils are paying a fortune in temporary accompdation. Squatters are costing people and businesses a fortune, all costs eventually land back on mortgage holders, tenants and customers. THIS is why Britain is broken. We need to get building again.

This is not a thing. You can plan all you want and you might get lucky and everything works out the way you planned, but for a lot of people life happens. Any number of things can happen to someone on their way to being “responsible “. It’s not the government’s job to decide who gets help based on people’s personal lives. That way lies The Handmaid’s Tale. It IS the government’s job to give anyone a hand up who’s falling through the cracks for whatever reason so that they and their loved ones don’t end up in a super dangerous situation.
To evict before Christmas is cruel and callous for a young family ? Why not wait until the spring ?

I know that is dreadful to evict a family just before Christmas. In France, the law only allows eviction between April to the end of September. One wonders which is worse the workhouse of the 19th century or the dole system of today ? I am really angry that children should have live in such poverty and die because insalubrious housing conditions. Society is responsible for it's young and there to protect children from danger of any kind. I hope that this new government will strive to make people's lives more decent !
Not all landlords are well off. After you pay the mortgage, taxes etc. What’s left may not be much. Let’s say your profit margin is 10%, that’s less than one month’s rent. If someone skip one month’s rent. You are in the hole. Big landlords can spread that risk around, small ones can’t.

My Cousin almost was homeless 2 weeks ago but he did it to himself. He never learned financial responsibility, he never paid his bills on time or money he borrowed. The Bailiff almost came buy to kick him out and throw his stuff out. I helped him on a wing and a prayer and he was so grateful. He learned his lesson big time bad. The Landlord/Landlady was very patient with him but now he knows how to be more responsbile.
He has learned and changed his ways in the space of two weeks? Ohkay buddy.

This was me 1 month ago in NZ. Literally couldn't find a house to rent for 3 months. At the last moment, the very last moment I got a house. But on that morning I was going to move to another area away from my eldest who is doing an apprenticeship but he too couldn't find a place to live. In the end I found a house but my God it is a nightmare and the toll it takes a toll on you and your kids. I blame the Governments and the market. There are sooooooo many family's that have been destroyed due to the BS that Governments and councils put us through. God Bless this Family.
@marypoppins123 NZ has got so bad, we have a whole generation growing up in motels/hotels/emergency housing. No stability for children or parents. Its a far cry from the NZ I grew up in, so very sad =(
My daughter’s landlord gave her two months notice as she has put her flat up for sale. My daughter decided to move closer to her work in a house share . She moved this past weekend, however the Friday before last she was made redundant.Although she’s not far away from us it’s now a move to another county she now didn’t have to do
10 - 20 years ago it was relatively easy to get on the property ladder in NZ apart from the biggest cities I guess, but it's frightening now almost everywhere. :(

Because the ones who own the houses used for temporary accommodation are pension funds, and without that money, pensions implode. It's the same reason companies can't pay employees more money. Because their profits go to shareholders (the pension funds). This is the reason the "first world" countries are crumbling. Unfortunately.

Having been in this situation last year, we were living in a b & b for 6 weeks. Then temp accommodation for 6 weeks. Many people asked how we coped, tbh, my children kept me going, & also knowing there's people worse off than us, people in war zones, fleeing for their lives.
We were always grateful to the council for helping us, & now we live in a council flat. Again, really grateful to the council

Boat people come in get accommodation a doctor ,dentist, hospital treatment all wrong we have our own needing help why put us second . I’ll wait for negative comments.

@IreneHutchinson-d6u I had to have my remaining teeth out 3 years ago and ever since can't get a dentist, I'm diabetic and struggle to eat and cover my mouth or keep my head down when I'm out. I found one dentist that would see me and he said I would have to go as a private patient so cost would be £1,700 and had to be paid up front!!! Yet these people come here and go to the top of the list, it's disgusting

Landlords have no right to evict a good tenant! Yet they complain about not receiving rent from bad tenants.

Whats wrong with you people? Talking about babies, and fathers and never letting your kids become homeless. This isnt the fault of people having kids, this is the governments fault for letting the housing system rot.

I can say the majority of my clients were very ungrateful with not only their temp accomodation but also their permanent offers. We always tried to avoid shared with families. I had clients refusing TA as not enough wardrobe space, no garden, too many stairs etc. Most clients were being evicted by their families due to overcrowding or fleeing DA. Yet happy to refuse a flat because they want a house.
There isnt enough affordable housing that is very true. The benefit cap and rental limits set by the previous govt has made it worse. Our current govt absolutely doesnt care either. So glad I left this area of work.
This poor family is homeless and some people have audacity to comment on furniture being donated give your head a shake they are in crisis mode just trying to survive figure out next steps be kind and try to understand things from the point of view of this family they some of many in the same strugle not right

Maybe just me but why does it seem like they are blaming the landlord at the beginning. They decided to sell as does every single landlord for their own property. Its unfortunate that they are hard up and have no place to go but it’s not the landlords fault for that
Why are the owners selling their homes causing families to be displaced. Does England have subsidized housing like the U.S where the rents go by your income ? Affordable housing? We have so many on the streets here in the U.S. some because of drug addiction which has been on the rise. Ever since Covid seems like things have gotten worse and rents are so high, most cant afford or have to work 2 jobs to pay rent. Times are bad everywhere. So sorry for all. Things have to change, this is so sad for families

It's not just rental costs it's .............references, employment status and affordability checks that prevent people from securing a room in a houseshare let alone their own studio/apartment. And the landlords working with councils are not doing so out of the kindness of their hearts, their actually charging more rent for people in shitty situations because they know that no one in a good position would ever rent from them. And on top of that, these shitty landlords that work with the council are taking advantage of people that are in bad positions and treating them like ex-prisoners/children by telling these tenants ( despite them paying £850 pcm for an unfurnished shoebox that they will be showing up every three months to inspect the shoebox just in case you damage their shoebox. They honestly love the power. All under the disguise that there good people because they are helping homeless people.
You haven’t seen the cities in the US, they’re like tent cities in Third World countries. Do you think the problem could stem from people having children they can’t afford? Greed is a big problem too. Stop having children and where are the fathers? Boy, if I were these people, I wouldn’t take a chance on getting pregnant. This is what happens when the importance of family and I’m talking marriage mother father children, planning first, is disregarded. The children suffer. I asked again Where are the fathers? My old neighbour who was in her 70s was evicted from her home after 35 years of renting. Her 90-something year old landlord decided to pass on the house to his 20-something year old grandson, who chose to bump up the monthly rent by £300. It's quite sad, she ended up moving to a shared rent controlled building for people aged 50+. Her garden was beautifully grown with decade old acer trees and mature shrubs. Everything was ripped out, a hot tub was put in and the property was turned into an Air BnB
