For fingernails its actually quite simple. Rocks. I know it sounds odd but thats the actual answer. You can use a semi smooth rock as a nail file. This means you can do everything a nail file can do and what we tend to forget is nails are a slow grow process. If you draw your nails across a rock once a day, or a few times each week, then you keep them controlled. The only thing you can't do is anything fancy for repairing like cutting a nail that is broken etc.
Silver to make colloidal silver, to use as a chain, to be reflective. Linen to cover your hair to prevent debris and it's anti microbial so a good bandage and quick to dry. Scissors to cut, hone and trim. Wet stone. Wool undergarments and wool socks quick drying and anti microbial.
You can use white ash,( from fire Ash) for making soap, with animal fat and it has antibacterial properties so you could (use it for a powder) just like (charcoal) could be used for a powder absorbent powder with antibacterial properties.
@@FueltheFiresalso if somebody didn't tell you you can chew on pieces of well burnt charcoal I'm talking charcoal not BBQ char, or half burned wood, but you can use it if you have diarrhea stomach bugs, all kinds of stuff to settle your stomach and kill the bacteria in your stomach and small amounts.
What you could add is a portable bidet... You can get those that work with a variety of plastic bottles, they are very small & light... It will save you allot of toilet paper...
I EDC a set of nail clippers on my key ring as well as a pair of "uncle bill's " tweezers. There are two more tweezers in my wallet 1 slant tip and 1 sharp pointed. If you count the pair in my SAK then i have four. Overkill for sure, but not even noticed until i need them and for sure i use all four depending on what I'm trying to tweeze. My head is shaved and my beard is short like Jason's. But i carry a pocket comb when out in the woods to remove burrs and stickers. Rather than picking them off individually, sliding the comb along the area covered gets under the offending burr or sticker and saves time and protects fingers! A fine metal comb for removing louse nits is worth its weight in gold and doesn't take up room or weigh much. Another tiny item that's super valuable and not a space hog is a hikers bidet. This handy little nozzle is made by several manufacturers and of multiple designs but all just friction fit in a water bottle and make washing your nether regions far simpler! Even if you use the soap and rag to clean, the bidet allows for fresh rinsing the area to leave the area cleaner. It's small enough to fit in a pocket and carry everywhere, so even freshening up on road trips can be accomplished in a restroom. Swamp a** happens outside of the woods too!
Sassafras tree root, about 6 in long with a inch of the end of its bark removed, is what grandma used for a toothbrush. She always had fresh breath and her teeth lasted up until she was very old. Older mirrors in Egypt were made out of bronze I think and polished, where brass whatever was available. Talcum powder maybe you could grind up willow bark, as an antiseptic, pine tree sap mixed with some spit can be used to clean a wound. If it's heavily bleeding you can use a spider web to coagulate it, then use thick pine sap to seal it. If you broke a limb and, had to immobilize it, you can come to skin with the powder, use the washcloth in between the sticks to immobilize it. Powder would keep the washcloth from chafing. Comb can be used to scrape stickers and bag o lice off clothes. Tweezers? Why not a Victorinox knife with scissors, tweezers, toothpick, screwdrivers, sewing awl and can/ bottle opener, hopefully a saw as well.
The barber pole with the red and white stripe is the earliest advertisement for people who could not read . The barber was the closest thing to a doctor and would do minor surgery with his razor. Clean clay baked hard and ground to a fine powder has been used to dust moist parts of the body. If the wash cloth is large enough you could use it for the container. Nail trimmers have been around since Roman times Gebhart etc. May have had them but not listed them.
I have a few mutantly long nose hairs, so manual nose hair trimmers are my number one hygiene item. If I don't take care of the nise hair I go into constant unending sneezing and it is awful.
If I have to bug out or relocate, I'm going to have a few pairs of nail clippers and tweezers and comes and brushes for my hair, and I'm going to have a razor to shave with as well as anything else to stay clean and groomed and to deal with pimples or blisters and to stay hygienic.
I watched my granddaddy many a time clip his toenails with those scissors. I still think the kit will be lacking without the clips. Yes, you can sharpen them if you pry the blades apart and sharpen each individually. This is why very old pairs have a screw at the bottom instead of a rivet. It is very difficult to dull a set of nail or toenail clippers. I have used the file to make tinder from a small stick too. I agree with the cloth but a bigger cloth, microfiber or polyester cloth might last longer. One last thing is TP. You had nothing for it. So monkey butt will be the least of your problems. It makes the kit go over in amount but the "three cloth method" from ReallyBigMonkey or a bottle bidet would be essential.
Most early mirrors were polished silver! Fine, wet sand can help as a scrubbing agent! Keeping your head and body hair cut short will help with hygiene which is why most militaries require short hair! Also beards, especially long beards won't let you get a good seal with a gas mask, though with a short beard, a film of vasoline with help with that seal! You may not consider this a hygiene item but eye drops are best when something is irritating your eye!
These are all very true and when I was in service we had to achieve a seal with the gas mask for sure.. I love the silver mirror and sand comments! Eye wash is definitely in my 1st aid kit- great comments and thanks for watching!

Definitely possible.. We’ve had a lot of responses as to the usefulness of toenails in this thread
Toilet paper(tissue), wysi wipes
I think baby wipes might trump paper just because of the possibility of the paper getting wet.. At least that’s why instructors typically carry wipes over paper.. Just a thought though
God did not design our bodies with useless parts!!!
Perhaps useless was not what we intended.. No disrespect to God over here

I have also carried baking soda- great stuff! And if we can entertain and educate- we’ve done a good job 😂 Thanks for watching!
