Cool videos Martin ,thanks for posting , was researching the F 150 Lightning , as was thinking of buying one , the more i read and watch about them , the more impressed i am with how they are built and put together , so many small things are implemented on them to make life easier , like zoned external lightning ,360 degree cameras view , loads of storage , and just sound build quality .Enjoying your videos , get to see under the hood at all the mechanical stuff .
Awesome work I’m sharing this on our Facebook group. I wish I had a 6.5 ft need on mine. Does the frame rail under the back seat area look straight enough that a good rear frame could be spliced in to lengthen the frame overall. Did you ever hear back from Ford on the rear motor coolant house rubbing on the hose clamp?
When you put the battery back in what is the computer looking for? Could I swap in a higher capacity battery later down the road? I assume in a couple years there will be more energy dense cells and faster charging cells. I'm just curious thinking of getting a lighting since there are so many incentives for one plus 0% financing🤔 but I like to mod stuff and a bigger battery would be on the list once the battery tech catches up. Thanks for your time 🍻
If you upgrade the software modules using Forscan, you can definitely swap to a higher capacity battery later on. I am looking at adding a 40kw pack in the bed as a range extender. It can be done with some technical experience.
I sure hope not. As these batteries age and lithium prices come down I'm hoping replacement battery prices come way down. But for today, my cost is about 45k. I've not seen any demand for entire battery replacement yet, only modules that are about 4500 each.
Short answer is no. All the electronics are different. Long answer is with enough money, time and electronics knowledge you could. But at this point, trading for an ER is alot more feasible.
@@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep Thanks for the reply. Definitely believe you that it'd be a ton of work. Do you have any recommended resources for understanding the battery and/or charging systems? Just for someone to get a handle on what all would be involved in a swap
After a tech did that a dozen times how long do you think it would take them? It seems like once the learning curve is done these fixes will take less and less time and the cost will come down.
@@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep very interesting thank you for showing that! After I watched more of these they look fairly simple. You’ve got a battery pack, 2 motors, and two cooling systems. I’m sure there’s more but ICE seem a lot more complicated. Thanks!
I thought pulling my Prius battery was ambitious! Really $43k for a new battery? Do you think that will last? I did a rough calculation on 131kw of new cells only and it came to about $10k. Are there any remans out there yet? My reman Prius batt was only about $1500.
Hello, Great video!! I am rebuilding a lightning too, however i faced an issue with headlights Its a 2023 ford f150 lightning lariat I have replaced my left side headlight Now it is not in sync with the right side/light bar, Turn left turn signal does not work too the light turns on with no issues, but no turn signal, closes after a loong period of time Do you have any possible idea to fix this issue?
How can you only have 241 subscribers? This seems like one of the best Lightning channels on RUclips! 🙂
Pretty crazy to see battery be removed in an era where some automakers are permanently gluing on batteries. This project rocks, kudos to you.
Subscribed and waiting for the next video! You make this look easy! Thanks for tackling this project and taking us along for the ride!
Thanks for the kind words, it really was not a bad job as long as you have the correct tools.

Great video and super informative.
Love this channel! Appreciate how you go through and explain each step. Definitely seems more complicated than I thought. Watch out for the coolant! 😂
Great content, just finished rebuilding a model 3, now i want to start looking for a lightning build to do. Thanks for the inspiration
Really great content! I love my Lightning and have wondered what major maintenance would look like. Eager for more!
Just my two cents’ worth: no music is needed. Your speedy edits are great, and the shop sounds are just fine by me. Cheers.

Battery pack weighs about 1800lbs.
Did he say 4 to 5 thousand dollar battery, or 45 thousand dollar battery?
Awesome videos, Martin! Curious what your opinion is on replacing an SR battery with an ER battery. Do you think it can be done?

Honestly, I had it out in about an hour and a half start to finish. I think 45 minutes could be achieved once you get good at it.

Too early probably, prius first gen didn’t have this.
Hello,
Great video!!
I am rebuilding a lightning too, however i faced an issue with headlights
Its a 2023 ford f150 lightning lariat
I have replaced my left side headlight
Now it is not in sync with the right side/light bar,
Turn left turn signal does not work too
the light turns on with no issues, but no turn signal, closes after a loong period of time
Do you have any possible idea to fix this issue?
I have not experienced that with my 2 builds. Maybe a cut wire or bad headlight?
What's the point of rebuilding this?
Because its fun!
