Thanks for sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly of backpacking. I’ve been there, so I completely get it. Most don’t share the really challenging side of things, and it was so refreshing. I think it’s always worth it in the end for these adventurous experiences, and you made it through with a positive attitude. Well done! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love Leo, northern Malibu is the best. My brother & I were in the exact same site for Christmas last year, I recognized that tree... Glad you opted for Piedra Blanca, I went that way last time I was solo in Ojai but didn't make it to twin forks because poison oak choked off the trail just past Piedra Blanca. Good memories! Thanks for bringing me back Bee!
I swear Big Sur pfeiffer is always closed from a landslide. If it makes you feel any better, my second day there was terrible. 5,400 elevation in 12 miles and it was super steep going down, too. Those trails look great. It always works out.
Were you trying to go to Sykes? Highway 1 has collapsed multiple times in multiple places. Sounds like a great trip. You said several times things did not go well. It sounds like things did not go according to plan. You still went out on a beautiful backpack trip. Thanks
Yes, I was trying to go to Sykes! And you are absolutely correct it was a beautiful trip even though things didn't go to plan. But catching that stomach bug on the last night was definitely not fun.
Thx Bee...plow ahead...keep a positive outlook...nothing can stop you.
So appreciate the support! 🙏
