    Great find BBB. It sounds like Rockhoppers before us took even more risks. Looking back I certainly think I'm fortunate to have survived climbing up old rusty spikes south of Diamond Bay in the 60s.

      Yes the skills back then omg, they were truly pioneers. The thought of getting back up!

      @@bondihistory Just a thought ... could the top of the rock called Pulpit Rock (see photo in Thackery's article) have washed off in the storm of 1912 and changed locations to where Mermaid rock is now? There has always been much debate on how the big rock was washed up.
