Music is very key in the Yakuza experience. When games make music a important component it's always enjoyable to me. Every single Yakuza game has at least 1 banger, SEGA kills it with music without fail. From Jet Set, to Sonic, to Yakuza.
It was at that moment that Ryuji became a true dragon. He was granted that fight to death because he saved Kaoru and it was at tht moment that Ryuji realized being the Dragon doesnt mean your the top of the food chain. It means your the protector and its your job to be that. Ryuji story is about a koi that has become a full on dragon with no real direction. He is literally the King Ghidorah to Kiryu's Godzilla as he enters another king's domain and expects to get what he want.
I had to fight against him with half the health I had and decided to not use heals at all because I had a feeling it’d be easy to cheese it I still enjoyed it a lot
Despite being beaten into unconsciousness and being shot after waking up, he still gave Kiryu one hell of a fight as a send off before he passes on and solidifying Kiryu's status as the one and only Dragon of the Yakuza underworld.
i think that’s why Ryuji is so compelling he for me is definitely the one who felt strongest even if future bosses are supposed to be stronger. In the end both men were ready to die and gave one hell of a final battle. This more than any other battle in the franchise feels like a legend that would be talked among by the Yakuza and further set in stone how strong Kiryu is. He’s also one of the few cocky villains in yakuza who isn’t all bark no bite. Kiwami 2 and yakuza 3 is the last time i felt kiryu properly threatened by someone else’s strength.
i honestly liked ryuji's fight but i think he was one of the easier bosses considering he had the same movesets throughout all 3 fights and had some pretty slow attacks nonetheless I really liked the music for it and I personally think hes got one of the best dynamic intros
Probably not intentional but I always thought of it as Ryuji never would be able to defeat kiryu. In the end, kiryu would always be the one to come out on top as he adapted to the way ryuji fought while ryuji just kept on trying to use the same tactics over and over.
I only played 0 to Kiwami and thought the same. The first was easy on the HQ. The second one on the elevator was a joke. Granted my Kiryu was very OP at that point but damn Komaki on the Colliseum and the MIB on the elevator made my life miserable while Ryuji was defeated in 20 secs... after all that build up. This final fight was still better but no where near as good as Y0, honestly
@@pato6738 idk, I feel like both established they're on an even playing field so to speak. Kiryu and Ryuji have a lot of mutual respect and I feel like Aniki is someone you look upto, while Kiryu and Ryuji are friendly rivals if he would have survived. They have no bad blood and all.
All the games had it with climax battles while kurohyou has it with one of the NPCs who you can talk to in order to do it,idk why they never reintroduced climax battles back, probably cause most mainstream Yakuza players only press square to fight instead of using any other mechanics kek
@undying1177 climax battles aren't enough, they don't have qtes or the dynamic intros, and you usually have to go other bosses first to reach the one you want, and LJ's gauntlet is the worst, since it restricts you to only one style and adds a time limit too.
Out of all 8 mainline games this has to be my favorite, literally just two dudes with nothing left to lose as a bomb is about to go off. Tendou from 7 was amazing too but this one is just so much cooler

This fight made Kiryu realize that Ryuji had became THE Rival Dragon because Ryuji realized what being a dragon was really about "Doing things your own way with honor and protective of those you loved" which in Ryuji's case it was Kaoru because he shot up the dude that was gonna kill her. It was at that very moment that Ryuji not only became a actual legend in Kiryu's eyes but was worthy enough for Kiryu to go with the idea of "There's should be only one Dragon" and fight to the actual death with him.

As someone who just finished the game today I can tell you that to enjoy the wonky and quite honestly terrible combat is to use two things, the heat rush which buffs the shit outta kiryu and his attacks and then abuse weapons at all times.
This boss fight was so selfish of both of them but you know what. I respect that selfishness, as a Dragon once said, "A real man oughta be a little stupid"
Yakuza 0, Kiwami and Kiwami 2 is the Yakuza peak for me. Song of life followed a bit of a strange storyline and like a dragon and IW are different games basically with the new combat. Plus, you can't ever beat the 80s and early 2000s environment. The best
Yakuza 3, Yakuza 6, Ishin, Like a Dragon and Infinite Wealth are all stronger games than Kiwami 1 and 2 imo. I'm just glad most Yakuza fans can agree that Yakuza 0 is peak.

I think this is my favorite boss fight.. two equals, two men with the same heart. You can just tell that, had they met earlier, they'd be the most unstoppable duo and brotherhood in Japan. Nevertheless, they want to go down fighting. The two dragons clash at the top of the mountain and only one emerges victorious. They have made their peace with death, and they face it without fear. That's also what the theme's vibes give me, that they are both at peace, only having one last objective without caring whether they die or not. I've played almost all the Yakuzas, and this one.. this one is my absolute favorite.

That sounds epic and incredibly sad....
this fight was so ironic because in the first Ryugi fight I forgot to bring a lot of healing items so I got my ass handed to me like 4 times in a row. And then when I got to the final boss I thought "okay the one before was a little easy but this is the FINAL boss it should be pretty difficult." And then I proceeded to serve Ryugi's ass on a silver platter.
Great game, 2 am late night gaming in college, songs are but off but other than that the game is good, did some side stories and credit song is good too, doesn't fit tho I think. And seriously Kiryu kissing is out of the blue and the last scene is really stupid where they kiss but since I know they won't die it was fine. but boy bullets give so much time to talk. GG. Would've liked a lil sister too. Gonna be like Kiryu, hit it in the gym and hope I have a good life too.

Nishiki was really easy too. Kinda sucks because Nishiki and Ryuji are two of the best final boss fights in Yakuza in my opinion.

I was expecting the music to relieve the pain a little bit, but that music hits so hard in the beginning, it just makes you tear up.
