This is also apparently a dragons dogma 2 performance patch but I personally encountered a massive memory leak after the patch, but we'll see how it goes as I have more time to test it. You'll also be able to buy up to 99 of the dragons dogma 2 art of metamorphisis items with RC now which is dragons dogma 2 how to change appearance of your pawn and your main character. Also the dragons dogma 2 new game option was added to the menu, among other changes.

That's what I'm saying its not the big of a deal. The fact that you have to live with the mistakes you make in game and cant reload are great makes it dynamic and realistic to a degree.

I assume you only get one save at a time so that the rift is not flooded with pawns. Some people are already struggling to get their pawns hired. It's a design decision.

@@dawnway6291Yes precisely. It's like coming up with solutions to friction caused by player decisions is their job. They should be good at it. Start a game, pick a pawn preset that gets put online.
I dont know if its the same in DD2 but in one you could have different saves by having a folder with the save data of your character and you just copy paste in the game folder with the saves and you would have all you had without a problem, thats why is kinda bizarre why there is only one save.

Some people are gonna argue "Well what if I mess up a quest?!" Rest at an inn before the quest your really wanna do, if its a escort, same thing plus carry wake stones. Other than that how about living with the consequences of your actions or inactions.
The original Dragon's Dogma did not have multiple save files so for me that is fine if You're expecting multiple save files you're going to be disappointed they're not going to put it in the game
DDA was balanced in a way where it didn't feel like it needed more than 1 save tho. DD2 quests are a bit more complex so I can see why players want multiple save files to see how they end without having to ng+ on a single character.
I never gave a shit about multiple save files in games like these, I also don't cry over stuff daily like most people online.
No one cried about a single safe file when the first game came out. Gamers were different then I guess, we weren't so needy lol

just a quick input, while yes merchant only sold 2 art of metamorphosis before the update, buying both of them didn't mean that you had to go spend real life money. the merchants would restock after a few days in game, so you could sleep a bunch and they would restock after a few days. the update just raised the quantity you can buy at once.
Not true, I bought those books days ago, and in my games I slept and passed time a lot and they never « came back » in the merchant store.
The art of metamorphosis book did not restock till they just dropped this update

That's wrong. I bought both of them in the first couple hours of play time and it never restocked in prolly 50 hours of play and dozens of nights spent in just that inn, let alone everywhere else

Consoles must approve every and any update for a game. Also after the first free update, the company must pay for future updates which the price increases the more the game updates.
Having a single save isn’t “scummy”. DD1 was like that. That is just how the game is.
While that maybe so, it's 2024 now compared to back then, so lets get with current the times please. Especially with a game like this. It not only screams for multiple saves, but it was one of the main hopes we had after playing DD1 that DD2 would have it.
@bluevegas01 it's a compromise that must be made due to the Pawn system. If you can think of a solution, by all means let the devs know. "get with the times" does not help the situation in any form.

People who complain about only 1 save game file, tf you need multiple save game files for anyway? Honestly having only 1 save slot makes choices and ng+ much more meaningful. It encourages more playthroughs and I like it. Multiple save files wouldn't work with the game's mechanics anyway, because people would recruit their own pawns and farm infinite rc that way, people still did that in DD1 using multiple accounts, but obviously not everyone would do that.
i can say for me, im on an intel 13980hx, rtx 4090 and 32gb ram, performance has improved. not massively, but im getting drops to the 40s in vermund, where as before it would dip into the 30s. whats more impactful though is the improved frame times. the frame times in vermund, even at 60 where horrendous with massive frame time spikes and freezes/hitches, its alot smoother now. theres still the occasional hitch and i still need to use frame gen to stay above 60 in vermund, but its soooo much smoother now. npcs still pop in and out of existance right in front of the player, hopefully they improve that soon
There's a mod on nexus that let's you use frame generation. Make sure to cap fps to 100 in nvidia control panel.

@@thedarkriddler7318 oh i already do. except i cap it at 90. annoyingly, vermund drops my fps to the 90s in places (with frame gen on) and as you probably when the fps drops below the cap its feels terrible. 90 with frame gen is rock solid, never drops and very smooth.
its really annoying because everywhere else, including small villages etc my fps never drops below 70 without frame gen. its just vermund it drops to the 40s and the fps swings wildly so i have to use frame gen. granted im on max settings, but ive messed with the settings, theres isnt anything i can turn off to make vermund not dip to the 40s in places.
but saying all that, im really pleased with this latest update. dlss on quality before looked terrible but now it works and looks alot better and the added performance means i can now lock my fps out at 90 (before this update I had it at 80).
its still annoying i have to bloody use frame gen at all, its hardly a looker of a game, but at least now 90fps lock with dlss actually looking how it should now makes the game playable for me
For me the performance in the human capital is much improved. The framerate isn't much higher but the stuttering and random choppy frames are mostly absent (AMD ryzen5 3600) I haven't had the chance to play for long enough to check for a memory leak yet so I will have to check that later.

Scummy? This has always been the case even in DD1 its a design choice. If you have multiple saves running around then you'll have too many different pawns by the same people. What is possibly scummy about this choice? Now you can make a new save how everyone wanted to do.
Yeah when I restarted my game (via delete on my console saved systems) I encountered the old pawn that I made on the rift, that should have been erased when I updated my new pawn to the server.

I have a friend that now has 3 different pawns. I was confused because I thought there was no such thing as multiple save files. Then I realized he restarted the entire game.
Too many pawns by the same player is just a lame excuse. simply make only the pawn from last played save eligible for other players.

It's scummy, and it further highlights how they should keep these online BS mechanics away from single player games. If they wanted people to be able to use other people's pawns they couldve easily just allowed people to upload pawns to a server, people can go through the catalog of pawns deciding which ones they want in their game, and just download the selected pawns to their game. Other people's save files would not matter and they could establish a limit on how many pawns people could upload. It's not rocket science, Volition had that feature since 2011 with Saints Row the Third, this "design decision" is just incompetence.

@@andycampbell8622 there’s endgame mode which is supposed to be harder it just feels more fun when the monster beats you up a bit rn I just destroy ogres and cyclops way too fast and I only have my main pawn with me and he’s a fighter lol I haven’t reaches endgame tho
@@andycampbell8622 no hard mode yet (or speedrun) they'll likely add that later. The thing is DD1 Hard mode wasn't really hard. it just pumped up enemy dmg numbers and the gold multiplayer actually made it the easier way to play the game if you had a bit of skill (or played Magick archer/Exploited Throwblasts/you were swimming in makers toenails)

Honestly I am new to this series and I didn’t know the original had that, but I am having a really fun time with the game. My only problem was the motion blur.

This kind of reinforces my thoughts that they had planned to add new game and some of the other things, it's just that with how vocal some people were made them speed up the process.
What you people, who are new to the game, don’t understand is that you cannot have multi save files in a non single player game like this. This pawn system is intricate. They are preventing manipulation and cheating by having multiple pawns in the rift from one player. They explained it better 10 years ago. Do you research instead of complaining so much.

Does anyone else have a bug in the textures? Now most of the Paws' armor is blurred after the patch. Before they were normal

For me the quest which unlocks magick archer is broken, so would be great if they could fix that. Or make it easier to unlock that vocation. Mystic spearhand vocation just unlocks when you find a specific location, easy.

If it randomly started saying to give the dwarf flowers, but he’s following you because you already did; you can still walk him to the hot spring to force the quest completion even if the quest marker is showing all the way back where you give the flowers
The NPC died but I've fixed it. Went to the Battahl morgue and resurrected him with a wakestone. I now have Magick Archer unlocked. Phew!! :)

I'm getting random crashes and browsing to a merchant or storage has significant fps drops
in DD1 you were able to "swap out" your save by going into the game files and copy/pasting your save somewhere else and if you wanted to go back to it later youd have to take out the new file and put the old one back in. I dunno if thats still going to work though with that anti cheat software running.
You can still do that but you need to disable cloud saves or it will overwrite the file with the one in the cloud
In dd1 you could have multiple “saves” on console by creating new player accounts and starting a new game that way

I played the first game, and I ge only believe this is an overreach on the developer to control player narratives in a single player game they bought for 70$

Single save file is pretty much what was in DD1. Presumably so you couldn't multi-pawn.
one of the few single player games id recommend looking up mods from the beginning tbh. some good QOL stuff in there
save manager, lock on, warfarer having 3 skills per weapon. mods are a must

? you can get your own house pretty early. i had the house in vernworth and bakbatahl (rode the sphinx into the southern area) before i even did the first quest for the captain of the guard.

My DLSS didn't work properly and now it works super! Same 5-10 FPS in cities.
Everyone is talking about the 1 save. You can look into the old game and they tell you why they only have 1 save slot. It has to do with the pawn system.
The single file is there to make sure the servers aren't flooding with pawns so people can actually have a chance for theirs to be hired.
I’m only interested in one thing, performance. Does it run and perform like a proper 70 dollar game should? Until than huge pass.

The save game thing, is probably because they want to make sure that players are progressing to ensure other players can have high level pawns. You can’t have a good pawn to lend if you have multiple low level playthroughs
On one hand I'm used to only having one save because I played the first Dragons Dogma and it only has one save until you beat the game and activate NGP that being said that's still just one save though lol, but I do agree that their wording is pretty meh making sound like we can have multiple saves but in reality we still only have the one it's whatever because like I said I'm used to it but yeah perhaps they should rephrase or clarify that patch note.
A few questions:
Does DD2 not use the same or a similar convenient item management system as DD:DA? I recall some people complaining that you can't change equipment through storage, you can't buy and sell straight to and from storage, and other such things that you could do in the first game. Is this true?
Do all chests still stay opened and never respawn/restock? I have heard mixed responses regarding this. In Dogma 1 we could grind some loot because some chests respawned after some time has passed in the game. According to majority of complaints I've heard say that in DD2 you can only loot all chests once and they never respawn/restock. I much prefer a respawning chest system with loot tables and such.
Yes, have 50h+ in game,can confirm: chest don't respawn. Everything else respawn: mobs,random loot,etc (different time frame)
In DD2 there are no random objects inside the chests
The items i get from a chest are the same you'll get in your playthrough

I would love a super hard difficulty mode. Atleast in new game+. The combat in this game is amazing but it's kind of boring when you one-shot most encounters later in the game.
There’s mods for that, or use a save editor to reduce your stats to a double digit.

Maybe see if ISLC fixes that issue.

They partially patched the pawn quest duplication method. It still works it just cant be spammed anymore and takes a few more steps to do.

Dragon's Dogma 1 only has one save as well, but made up for that with the fact that you could flexibly change your class and modify your character infinite times from the main menu. What it did NOT lack was a new game option on the main fucking menu. Why people thought shipping the game without that is an oversight of the decade.

Kill the dragon and when you get to the ending you have a choice to enter endgame or restart everything, just restart everything if you want to change your name and character appearance just when it ask if you want to use your old character saved data press no. Same thing happened to me

i wanted to change my appearance using my arisen/pawns made in the character demo. Art of Metamorphosis doesnt access it like when starting your new game. Wasted Opportunity lol, have to recreate those models again smh

As much as I absolutely love the game, it does suffer from missing things that are an absolute nobrainer which modders then make I the first week, leading me to wonder why it was missing at all, like 99 item limit, modders have already fixed it to 999, only 10 portcrystala can be placed? Moddershall have fixed it to 250, warfarer allowing you to set up skills for each weapon instead of only having access to 3 skills total (and rearmament), modders have even set up crude save managers.
I pre-ordered this game and waited til this patch came out. My logic.... I have countless games and I wanted the pre-order bonuses, so I'll just wait til it's fixed. Plus I didn't like the way my character ran, like a 7 foot tall Hercules.... if he was flamboyant AF, my elbows were to close in and it looked horrible, my pawn also had a deep as voice for being a shorter character. I didn't want to deal with that crap til I could fix it later and I wanted the game to get fixed more anyways, so WHY not just wait? Now my characters are perfect, this should have been in the game from the start.
I absolutely adore dragons dogma and DD2 and don't mind the obvious flaws the game has in certain aspects, but the goddamn andys who keep defending bad qol decisions are really annoying in every comment section.
Go with the times. DD released 12 years ago God damit, it's not their identity it's just lazy to not change some qol things. Anyways except for a couple of crashes I really enjoyed my 1st 60 hours so far :)
The one save game isn't there to stay "old school" it's there to keep people from pawn boosting. There's no reason for the game to have save slots.

Why need a new game you can be any vocation? Theres no restriction
If you want multiple saves just make multiple steam accounts and family share. You can put up to 5 accounts that share your library. And steam makes it easy as pressing one button swap accounts. I have 3 and it looks like I’m selecting a character save. As I play archer warrior and thief on 3 different saves/profiles. You also can use your own pawns and generate your own RC… it’s kinda busted 😂

Between changing vocations whenever I want being able to start a new game and now changing your appearance 99 times there’s no real reason to have multiple save files

It's not scummy. Having a single save is a design choice, and a necessary one at that. Part of the online aspect of the game is the Pawn system and getting your Pawn hired to get rewards and progress their experience. People are already having problems with that. If everyone has multiple saves then that further muddies the Pawn pool for ALL players, making it less likely you get your Pawn hired. Plus in theory you could just hire your own Pawns and not even interact with the system. That would completely destroy the online community aspect of the game. While I'm not exactly happy with it, I do think the single save is a necessity.

yeah, the creators want us to commit to a story playthrough, live with our bad choices for the playthrough. But most people have never played the first game either.
I think most of the people that complain about the single save thing can't/aren't willing to change their mindset and adapt to the game and want the game to adapt and change to/for them. I also think the single save is there to make people want to have subsequent playthroughs to see the different results of quests and other things.
You could delete your saved game data before this still they just added it into the main menu now smh the misinformation about this game is crazy people who didnt play the first one just don't understand
Just cloud save and then delete the other character that way you can start over but you can always go back to original
performance fixes are only for consoles, fps remains the same on pc with this patch. just saved you the trouble of loading it back up @ pc gamers

you mean vram right? it shows you 7.08 gb while you should have 8?
Thats normal. thats basically the ram of your graphics card. if that gets filled to the brim your card just dies since it cant process anything anymore. 1gb is usally reserved for functionality and communication with your other pc parts.

@Dandoskyballer it can used to heavily exploit the games rc mechanics and can be used to give yourself infinite of whatever items you really wanted
@@Dandoskyballer I agree. It's a single player game. I don't get it. It's like nerfing weapons and stuff on a pve game lol. Who cares? I'll play the game the way developers intended but, someone else will use exploits. It can't be stopped.

its really shameful that capcom needed a patch to put the new game option in DD2, I was excited for this game but capcom just convinced me that the best way to experience DD2 is waiting for his "Dark arisen" edition and deep discount like in DD1.
They had one save file so the your decisions would have gravity and also not to flood the rift with pawns, if you want that highlighted marker hold your hand, go here collect this type of game wait for the next Assassins creed
New Game just effectively deletes your save file anyway.

I’m actually pleased with this, I have made so many mistakes on my play through, that now I’m further in the game I have basically ruined my initial play through.

Totally destroyed, they should fix is scaling, Not in enemy health but the numbers of enemies.
Was travelling to the first big town at level 9, got attacked by ogre while in cart, fine fair enough, BUT then a Griffin joins in, then wolves, then reptile creatures, it was a total massacre, got totally destroyed pawns and all.😢😊
I was attacked by an ogre and bunch of those smaller mobs and some how it jumped and pushed one of my pawns into the water and it drowned along with my pawn.. the only plus side is i leveled up..

@@sefiryu well Destroyed is probably the wrong word but , later on in my play through entering the Desert area I found myself severely lacking in funds because through the game I was buying weapons and armour etc.
Now I know I can find items in the world , I can now save more gold ready for the mid to end game.
I have Never played a Dragons Dogma before, so I made mistakes right from the start, one mistake early on was making it very troublesome to get to the first main town by allowing a certain character to be killed by harpies (say no more, long walk and a lot of fighting with under level gear).
But now I know better and have a better understanding of the game.

PS5 version is a joke it runs so poorly and no graphic options to help at all, seems they released the Switch version by accident! Will pick this up on sale in 6 - 12 months it does look fun despite the awful release.

Multiple save files cannot work because of your pawn! You cannot have multiple pawns tied to your account. Why is this hard for people to understand? Its not scummy.

Idk man. I get wanting to change your character. But for starters we had access to the character creator ahead of launch. For free with the ability to use it even on launch and with no restrictions.
It amazes me. That some people fumble the bag with that character creator tool.
And the 2 books in the game wasn't enough. Maybe I'm basic but I took my time to make my characters, and when NG+ comes. I can use one of those books to redo my character for a new playthrough. But don't run around editing my character every 2 days to need more that 2 books. Hell I probably still wouldn't use them since I'm very happy with the ones I made.
Sorry for the rant but man it's just wild to me. Maybe I'm just getting old.

People out here expecting dragon's dogma to be like baldur's gate with multiple saves.... Christ.
multiple game saves has bing singleplayer industry standard since the 2000s. we dont want dd2 to bel like bg3. we want it to adhere to that QOL standard. i can understand it in first dd. but considering that people circumvented that by backing up their saves should have given the hint to the dev to just add this damn feature. and I know that people will be comming out of the woodworks saying: "this will destroy the pawnpool" well to add to the pawn pool you need to be online right? to be online you need an account like ps+, xbox live or steam right? therfore the dev could "simply" rearrange the pawn system in a way that add 1 pawn to the pool per account instead of per character. boom issue fixed. now you, the accountholder, can make many save files with different chars and have the ability to set and/or replace the pawn that gets put into the pool. this is not an unadressable issue, its fixable. the devs/ the publisher just dont wanna. and that why we are criticisin'
