They cling to sacred text on a page (like constitutions), and edicts from the infallible officials on high. They say prayers to their masters at the voter booth, participate in pompous but pointless rituals by people in funny clothes, and treat anyone who doesn't believe in the State as a dangerous *heretic*. "You are a fraud -- stop acting like you don't believe in God." They do believe in God -- the State (in their ideal form, or maybe even just its current form) is God. Hypocrites and pitiful souls.
Spot on ! ... there is only One True Divide that separates humanity into two distinct types of individuals. The criterion for this divide is whether or not an individual believes in "Authority," and therefore believes that there is legitimacy to Slavery. A Statist is an individual who erroneous believes that there is such a thing as "Authority" vested in certain human beings, magically giving them the "right to rule" over other people. This "Authority" means that certain people, who we call "Government," have the "moral right" to issue commands to those whom they rule (those under their "jurisdiction"), and that their "subjects" (slaves) have a "moral obligation" to obey arbitrary dictates ("laws") set by their Masters. Most simply put, a Statist is someone who believes in the legitimacy to SLAVERY. Conversely, an Anarchist is one who knows that there could never be legitimacy to "Authority" or "Government" because those terms are simply euphemisms for Violence and Slavery, which are always immoral and in opposition to Natural Law / the dynamic of right and wrong.
Hyperbole,hysteria and hypocrisy are three things politicians and zealots do very well. They spew the first two to suit their needs and the third only after they forget they ranted on about the first two.
