The people in Japan seem to revel in the beauty of everyday life.A snack,or something to drink on the side of the road becomes a lesson on how to live a gracious life.We should all take notes.

Agree with everything you’ve said about Tokyo/ Japan. Visited a couple of years ago and was so enamored by it… the way things were wrapped/ presented, the quality of everything, delicious fusion food, the polite and helpful people and their creativity.

It's a culture shaped by intentionality that goes beyond profit margins or legal compliance. A reflection of inner pride.

I remember when I worked for a major advertising agency in NYC, whenever a client would fly in from Japan, they would bring the most exquisite gifts. Visiting a corporate environment was apparently the same as being greeted by a host in a home. The gifts would be wood trays and scented sticks of some sort or other, and always wrapped in the most gorgeous purple flower paper. That was 25 years ago and I can still picture it because no other clients ever brought anything, even the consumer packaged goods clients never brought whatever they manufactured to eat. Japan definitely knows hospitality hands down.

You have the best job Susanna! I was in Tokyo as a child with my parents. I remember the Tokyo Tower and the hustle and bustle of the city. So fun to visit it again through your eyes.

One of my most favourite countries to visit. I have been here 4 times; to tokyo, nagasaki, hokkaido and osaka, and each time brought different perspective. Very articulate in arts and rich in culture; this is easily seen in their day to day lives. The people are very polite and hardworking; and it always amazes me to see school children as small as 7 years old taking a ride on train to school by themselves even in big cities such as osaka without their parents and without any security issues. ❤

I love how the Asians bow to each other. It shows such respect. I bet if we Americans started that custom there would slowly be less road rage, less “Karen’s” popping up out of nowhere, and we would all start smiling more.
