I bought the Aomway HD588 10,1inch,1920*1200,40CH, dual ant, battery, dvr monitor. And if you want a big screen RC monitor i can say this screen is very good. Bright screen that can be used out in the sun, and good range on 5,8ghz signal reception. This at €135 with shipping from Aliexpress. This screen is one you should try. You made a very good test, and set up in the sun. It was a good way to show the screen performance out in bright light. Thank you for a nice video.
WHY couldn't I have discovered this post a year ago?! This would have been wonderful, but it's been discontinued now... It's so difficult to find an FPV monitor these days, they're all discontinued and/or out of stock. The irony that with increasing rules on VLOS regulations, using a monitor is a great way to fly FPV and still comply with the law. That's why I want one! But it feels like they're getting discontinued more rapidly than ever!
I've been using the Eachine LCD 5802 for almost a year and it's been great for flying my fixed wings. Just recently though the A channel Rx stopped working. I checked the internal Rf connection to the channel A chip and it was fine. Not sure why it died. I'll probably use it as a backup in the field now and get the moneagle as a main screen. The only other issue was the little plastic tab on the baffle broke after a couple weeks of use and the baffle needed to be taped open
I have the 7" RX-LCD5802 Diversity Screen (purchased several years ago) which looks like the same model but without DVR as the LCD5802D in the video, I can only fault it on the sun shade being too small, they supply a slip on case thing with a bigger sun shade which solves the problem but making it a bit bulky to carry, the screen is nice and clear and the auto scan for channels is great (also has manual selection), it has an internal 2450mAh lipo with built in charger and can be powered externally too, it has the ability to output 2 different channels at the same time too. I just wish it had been available with a built in dvr when I bought it (fitted a cheap £20 external dvr to it now )
good review, surprised you did not try the hawkeye little pilot, 5" though i suspect the eachine moneagle might be a rebrand of same, also there is the Aomway 10" screen but big money and prone to blowing over on tripod as it acts like a sail, i have been using the hawkeye but calling it a day trying fpv
Appreciate this review in 2020 (I’m watching in 2021). I ended up with the Eachine LcD1234557583929288383773728299D as I thought I could do box goggles but my glasses are really huge. Also found a good price on the eachine LCD and really appreciate the huge 7” viewing area
@@RagTheNutsOff Only cause you asked nicely ;p www.thingiverse.com/thing:4599825 thanks for the videos, just found you recently and have been loving the content! Zohd dart250 and nano talon evo, still need to maiden both once I can find a good place to fly. :)
Matt thanks for all the good info. I was considering the Moneagle it looks great. How would suggest mounting that to my transmitter since there is no mount on it. Thanks again. Kevin
I have the Eachine LCD5802D one and is Ok but for some reason it no longer switches between antennas for best signal, i use a cloverleaf and a flat antenna on each of the A&B connections, that clip is a pain to open up the screen cover as it is very stiff and when mounted on my tripod is near impossible to open, i like your idea of using a piece of tape so you can open it.
I'd hoped this review would be of different manufactures Matt. I'm pi--ed off with my LCD5802D 7" screen for lots of reasons just like the thread on rcgroups . I bought it mainly because it was supposed to be ultra bright which is crap since its way dimmer than my old Fieldview 8" screen. The DVR is totally unreliable as most users state. The internal battery only lasts an hour plus the screen won't turn on 4 times out of 5. I have to press the reset button using a pin!. However-- one plus - the diversity works well and I've managed a 10km trip with it using my Z84. Please- please find me a real good screen bright enough for our NZ sunny days WITH good range-Ta mate-LOL!!
I'm interested in one of these screens. Can you tell me. Which one is the biggest, which one has the brightest screen, which has the longest battery life. Can any of them be used as fpv goggles. Do any of them record DVR. Are any of them true diversity. Which one is the cheapest. What one is your favourite.
In my case the right DVR channel is of very bad quality. Only the left channel provide a good signal. Could someone do a test by removing / swapping antennas and see if they observe a difference, to tell me if my unit is defective ? Thanks.
@@juanscamposz yeah, cos you've done it yourself, don't talk shit, my setup works just fine and just because a factory built setup is integrated it does not make it better, that's just blind. Maybe you need something fully integrated because you don't have the skill to build a custom setup? You probably also own an iPhone too but go on, you spend twice the price on a shit screen which is a fraction of the size and keep on bitching about things others have built which are better.
@@juanscamposz And maybe you should also tell matt he's stupid too because he's done something similar except instead of directly interfacing with the panel using a driver board with a built in composite input, he's used a VGA to composite adaptor on a desktop pc monitor which adds an additional step between the RX and the display! But of course, you know best.
Hey Verdy, for antennas an Aomway clover and a Aomway diamond would be idea. Thats what I use on the goggles and have done for years. not as flashy or as small as some of the newer ones. But they work great. Foxeer send me some small red ones as you might be able to spot int he photo. Those have been ace too. Hope that helps Verdy. Matt
Great review Thanks! I want to be able to easily play back recorded video after a crash to help find it in rough terrain later.. and am interested in the Eachine Moneagle FPV Monitor. How easy is it to play back recorded video from the DVR to the screen? What is the max size SD chip it supports and what write speed is required in the chip please?
I feel safe saying that it can go to 32GB reliable, 64 is "maybe" on these units. As for speed, you can't go wrong with a Class 10. I doubt these things can hit bitrates high enough to to need anything faster.
Yes, you can. Two ways to do it. First is to just tune them both to your aircraft independently. That's the easiest, but then you need to give them both decent antennas, and you don't know if your friend has good video. The other is to connect them with an AV cable. Give either of the monitor or the goggles good antennas, and then put the other one into AV IN mode. They'll both display the same image as received by the chosen receiver. If your goggles have a really good receiver, like a Rapidfire, this is the best way to go. Then just AV IN the monitor and "slave" it to the goggles' receiver. Or, if you are doing long range and want to make sure your super high gain antenna is pointed down-range, use your monitor's receiver and put your goggles on AV IN, then relax without having to worry about tilting your head and losing video.
Hi, I'm looking to buy a proper monitor after using my ev800d for ages. I like to fly with a monitor attached to the tx. The ev800d is great but can be a bit bulky. The moneagle looks awesome, but how do you mount it on a tripod (in my case tx mount)?
The Moneagle includes a weird little clamp array that's designed to attach to your transmitter. Looks like it clamps onto the antenna? I can't tell easily from the pictures though. I found it interesting that it didn't have a tripod mount...

A 15" laptop screen and a dirt cheap £8 LVDS driver board makes a banging FPV screen :)
add battery + receiver with diversity + DVR + antennas and you waste to much more.
