Good to see some content popping up on RUclips about analog gear. Like you said: a lot of people dont’t have the money or fly tiny whoops or micro’s. And often digital is to expensive and to heavy still
I took my eachine 800D and made them in that format with my own 3d printed body all the electronics can fit. Retro fit it to run off 2 18650 cells and has modified usb charging.
@@notsure1502Im currently on some emaxx RTF goggles as well, Can you tell me how you were able to do this? Getting a similar DVR to this one and would love to have it in my goggles
I use the wifi module on the HDZero goggles. It streams to any VLC player app on your phone or computer. It can send the HDZero/WSAvatar/Analog feeds. Whatever you see in the goggle gets sent to the phone/pc/tv. However you can't fly using the module feed, the delay is a few seconds. It's really convenient for camera angle adjustment and OSD alignment from the bench. And of course sharing with others.
I bought used 7" TV for 15$ and receiver for more 15$. Yes, it's not so convenient but useful enough and 3 times cheaper. But also I have HDMI input and can play with Openipc devices. And sound as well 😊
I feel like this is like when the Iomega zip drive came out in a world of CD-RWs. Too little, too late. If you dont have money for digital you probably dont have money for this. But always love the videos and reviews!
I have analog on land tank. For 3w. And wanted in car but 3w and 5w vtx out stock. Thought about 5w vtx analog in 10" long range too. Not sure I'd ever use a monitor though. I use Google just look inside without putting them on
Most definitely. Felt just like that about Orqa "the best analog goggle" a lot more people would have paid for them if the would've just beaten dji release. A lil too late.
@streetzfpv right. I fly micros occasionally but it's not worth a set of analog goggles. The BDI adapter is enough and they've worked out most of the bugs now. I don't think I'm good enough of a pilot to notice the extra 10ms latency or so.
Best thing is you can try out yourmix modes and leave your goggles on diversity if you dont trust mix mode, like me, but now you can test the modes with the device for rolling, dark screen
As someone who flies analog with a screen mounted to the radio, this is amazing. I just don’t enjoy using goggles inside the house flying my whoops. Wish HD also had monitor options without having to plug in the goggles.
Well, you're right. But if TX and RX are so close together the sending signal is strong enough to find it's way into the screen without antennas. Don't do this with Tx : Your VTX will be toasted Happy flying.😉
I’ve been using something similar that came from MJX (D43) like 5 or 6 years ago. That unit has built in battery and antennas, no DVR, but it works amazingly well, and the battery runtime is still great.
I have had something exactly like this since a little after I started a few years ago. Mine are called a Black Pearl and also has HDMI input. They have built in batteries as well and are a little more polished than these. I just bought a cheap amazon camera tripod for it's built in mount and never looked back. I thought this was totally common, but I've always flown alone as well. Hmmmm
I have been using the Eachine 5802D 7" inch screen for years. It has no switchable battery and no "Steadyview unicorn magic" (bad experience with that !) but quite good regular diversity. It is slightly cheaper, at 80-85 euro, than the M5 screen but you get 2" extra screen for that lower price. Consider the 5806D an option if you are looking for an analog-screen and do not care for the Steadyview.
Oh, .... the "Big Miss" on this M5 screen imho is that it has no HDMI input. Would have been great to use it with Walksnail/Hdzero VRX's in a "groundstation"
As someone who has been using HDO2s since they were released, the potential to get a 60hz DVR with a clock without having to buy new goggles is pretty awesome (please tell me that the DVR files have an accurate time/date on them).
It seems to operate just like the Skyzone O4X goggles I use. There's no clock battery that I've been made aware of, so all the files get the same date and time tossed on them from the time I power the goggles up. Odds are, you'll have to do your own timestamping.
@@jaysonrees738that's a shame, the manual (from the Skyzone website) mentions setting time and date from the system menu, but if there is no battery, you would need to reset it each time you plugged in.
How about a direct comparison of the quality of the analog video between this monitor and the HDZero monitor. How does the steady view image quality compare to the image quality of the de-interlacing feature of HDZero?
The big advantage of Anlagoge for me: If you want to stay cheap and want to try more different Drones or Fixed Wing, you have the Option to change any VTX and Cam together, and it is easy to setup and if you buy gooD VTX, and Cam and try to elimate Noise in the Video, you can have extreme clear And good Looking Image too!. WISH LIST: an analog transmitter that connects to the video output of my digital goggles. Then, when I'm flying, others can monitor me on something like this device.
Could I use the receivers on this and port the signal to my old fatshark attitudes with no module bay? Think it has the old video input jack. Getting tired of crap reception and this could possibly kill two (or three?) birds with one stone.
For people using analog groudstations this could be really usefull if the DVR is good. So far the options for separate DVR units are very poor, with the Immersion Powerplay being the best, but that one is no longer available. I use a FXT DVR, also very good but also discontinued. It would be great if this Skyzone screen is similar in recording quality.
pretty cool. i have the fxt vipers, the detachable screen has come in handy on the bench. it's also got hdmi. the downside is, it has a micro usb power input, which by some miracle hasn't broken over the past four years! there's no mount on it either. i always thought it would be cool for guerilla whooping with it somehow mounted to the tx. a little more low key than some wacky headgear on your face.
How does this compare to the Eachine moneagle? I love the screen and battery life but I get no range. I think the receivers in it are quite lacking. Is this any better?
Do you know what the range of this monitor is? My Viper goggles only go a few miles. The Eachine EV800Ds go much, much farther. Also, what about the HDZero de-interlacing module?
I have a cheap analog input for android and run a spare analog module into a 10" tablet. I can pic my analog module but also use the tablet for digiview. It works great and only 1 device. I can even wirelessly transmit my mavic image to it! So 1 single client monitor for everything.
Thanks for the video JB. It is late but still relevant to me. I'm one of those odd ducks that doesn't really like goggles. I like to be able to see what is going on around me when I fly especially when I'm flying alone in an unfamiliar area. I recently finished an analog 7" build and bought the eachine 7" diversity fpv monitor with the goal of attaching the monitor to my radio and using it sort of like the DJI controller with monitor built in. It works great but the 7" monitor is a bit cumbersome since the radio I've attached it to is the small RadioMaster Pocket. Ive found I prefer putting the monitor on a tripod but it's not ideal since I sometimes like to walk around while flying in an attempt to improve video reception. I think that 5" monitor would be just about perfect to attach to the Pocket. I might just pick one up. The better reception technology would be a bonus. I am going digital with my next build (3.5" Cinewhoop) but I intend to keep the 7" analog. Thanks for your review. Still relevant for a few of us lol. Happy flying amigo.

The one thing that would've sold this to me is an HDMI port. The $40 el cheapo screen that Sologood cooked up does almost as good, and I rarely need a spectator screen.

Analog certainly isn’t dead
Can you plug a hdzero goggle
Into this for bench testing so you don’t need to have the goggles on ?
but why not just get the emax goggle with detachable? then you get a screen and goggles
Eachine Moneagle is what I use and its been perfectly awesome.
Does it have HDMI in? I'd love a monitor with an analog receiver that I could slap a digital receiver on the back of
Did they really miss on the NR 1 Opportunity to have an analog output so this could act as an analog RX for HDZero/Walksnail Goggles X?
My skyzone x box googles have steadyview. I like them
I still race analogue. I'm not good enough for the low latency hdzero cost to be worthwhile. I have a similar screen without diversity and this would be amazing.
Black Pearl fpv monitor's have been out for more than 6 years and have Div. I had one as my first FPV video system. Then I finally got goggles because everyone on RUclips has goggles. When I started out I thought goggles were weird and that is never get a pair because the monitor makes you look more cool
I'd have a couple uses for it. Analog aint dead yet.
Kind of expensive for what it is but I guess that is because of the steadyview receiver.
Please change battery in that watch-type FPV monitor. You could make a video about it :D
It does all the things lol. I’ll put in a bid of 22.00 I have the old spectrum screen and yes it’s ALWAYS plugged in
i guess no need for antennas on it? thought it would harm the receiver?
Analog video receivers don't transmit anything so the only downside to no antennas is low range
@@Voyajer. so why does everyone say dont run receivers or transmitters without antennas i have watched numerus videos from joshua and alot others saying this but still see things like this and not sure what to think is everything i seen bs? i know i have heard people say dont run without antennas it will damage the unit..
Transmitters: No antenna very bad. Receiver: bad range, bad reception. No problem.
I like this a lot. That 18650 is a big deal for me. I have a handful of small screens that have worn out batteries that are built in. Sure I could take them apart and put a new battery in but none of them were great screens anyway.
It looks like my Skyzone Cobra but disassembled…
i saw the same. I have v2 and have the same. everything
@@inakidb The battery section, the dials and buttons.... that's not to say it's terrible. It's pretty amazing (love my Skyzone Cobra V2's). No mention of HDMI in or out though I don't think? Would love to attach an HDzero to that monitor and make it super bright. I'd love to use a screen instead but light reflection is a big issue.
@@JonFloFPV that is a great option I can confirm the 72p are real. it's amazing how great it looks.
truly made for watching LOTR and the destruction of Sauron’s army with your trench buddy
I use transporter 2s from emax
does it have AV output?
I use my ev800d for that. Almost the same.
Does anyone know a mini monitor i could use for hdzero goggles? I see Josh using one to work his goggles and setup stuff instead of putting them on. Anyone know
Only if this also included a HD zero receiver.
