Please, can you share your experience with your board? I have some audio interfaces using Thunderbolt and I am thinking an Amd build but I am not sure if TB is reliable
One Doubt, If I install like this 1. On PCIE_1 (First PCIE slot / TOP) - RTX 3090 2. M.2_1 (First NVME slot) = 1 TB NVME gen 4 3. M.2_2 (Second NVME slot) = NONE / Not installed 4. M.2_3 (Third NVME slot) = 1 TB NVME gen 4 In this case will the RTX 3090 (First PCIE slot / TOP) will have x16 lanes (wont reduced to x8) - Am I correct?
Thanks for the review! In terms of the M.2 SSD performance, did you manage to do any tests when you have drives in the additional slots as well as the CPU one? I was reading the 3rd slot would be shared with other hard drives in terms of lanes so was curious if its worth getting two gen4 ssd's? I've got this MB on order but was going to take advantage of Black Friday to pick up an additional m.2 ssd.
Yep... great question... VERY overlooked issue. This is what I found: m2 #3 shared w sata 5/6, m2 #2 shared PCIE slot2. Hmmmm! What did you end up finding?
Just a note for anyone looking into this motherboard, when you use the M.2 slots that link into the chipset (bottom ones), they disable 2 of the bottom SATA ports. Just an FYI for anyone looking into buying this. The reason I believe they do this is to increase readily available bandwidth for the m.2 drives.

I know ASUS is suppose to be a good brand, but my experience with ASUS has been 2 boards and they both died within a year or 2 so I have never bought them again since. Is there an alternative from Gigabyte that has 10gbs lan and thunderbolt 3 or 4?
ASUS was only a "good brand" (as in consistent, there are no good brands, every manufacturer has good and bad products) until 2016 when they were the FIRST motherboard manufacturer to fully automate and lay off all of their production staff. ASUS more than any other manufacturer of motherboards has chased margins the hardest and have made TONS of crappy products since then. Their "Expedition" GPUs have a heatsink literally made of a sheet of tin foil. Their Z390 Strix motherboard was the worst overclocking motherboard ever made and a fire hazard. ASUS are coasting on brand recognition, nothing more.

I don't overclock, but this board would be great for my 5950x machine (that currently has a possibly wonky Crosshair VIII Hero board in it.) That router is pretty impressive too, as I haven't yet seen one with 10G ports on it. Hmmm, must think about this.
😉
did you end up getting it? or are you waiting for AM5
@@joeldiramon8538 I have not gotten the Extreme, as the “possibly wonky” motherboard has been fine so far.
Pfsense best then use ubiquiti
the x570i phantom gaming i have sitting right in front of me has thunderbolt right on the io
also, the x570 steel legend in my other build has the asrock thunderbolt aic, although it doesnt work that great and is not compatible with a lot of things.
the x570i phantom is thunderbolt 3
This is thunderbolt 4
@@MrTeathyme I fully understand, hence me stating I own both boards. Both boards are also amd's /asrocks first iteration of trying to implement thunderbolt. Also me stating the steel legend aic (add in card) not working at all.. Doesn't matter the gen of TB if it doesnt even work.
@@MrTeathyme also, I'm currently looking to get rid of both of these boards due to their lack of connectivity. I need more nvme and an actual working thunderbolt for my audio interface
can u do a video on harddrives it's different types such as smr cmr, what to look out for when buying it for desktop or for a nas etc
Is there an intel version of this motherboard?
Hey Lauri, do you plan on doing a look at the Aorus Xtreme mobo? Thanks! :-)
Would love to! :)
I want this board so much! They need to make an ITX version or at least an mATX. If not, I might just have to swap to ATX just for this design.
Haven't Asus boards had that connector for the IO ports for years? Swear going back to my Core 2 Duo Asus boards they had them.
You are right, I have old Asus LGA775 boards with that
Can you get the best gaming motherboard with ddr4
Problem is the CPU single M.2 bandwidth allocation in which it shares the bandwidth of the CPU-fed x16 slots.
Interesting! Can you explain in more detail? Are All AMD and Intel Mobos that way? Thanks!
PCIEX16_2 slot share bandwidth with M.2_2, which runs at PCIe 4.0/3.0 x8 by default.
When M.2_2 is enabled, PCIEX16_2 will run PCIe 4.0/3.0 x4 mode, adjust this item in BIOS settings. (From ASUS's ProArt X570-CREATOR WIFI page)
Does it have a fan built in to cool the chipset? I want Pcie4 m2 slots but b550 only has one.
Don't need a fan, it's passive now. :)
Thanks for the review helps a lot with my purchase.
No problem 👍
This made me finally upgrade from x370
😉
those heatsinks looks a bit Meh if you're one that pushes the cpu and you have a silent or external custom loop... that's my only issue. Would have loved to see actual sexy fins on there
This board is beautiful!
I agree!
don't know but without thunderbolt port and 3 nvme the motherboard is pretty similar with other motherboards
Asus was the first to come out with the FRONT PANEL CONNECTOR adapter
My bad! :)
Asus X570 ProArt Motherboard - Is it me, or this model won't be released until 9/28>
Now I just Need it in a Mini itx formfactor
Why is us so hard to make all the usb at least 3.2
I guess it all takes bandwidth and we don't have unlimited amount of it :(
@@theTechNotice WRONG!
Both the X570 chipset and (at least the newest) AMD Ryzen processors support USB 3 gen2 (=10gbit/s).
The problem can only be that to support USB 3 gen2 reliably you need to use redrivers (and indeed, if you look carefully at ASUS ProArt X570 Creator WIFI, you will see that the gen2 ports have redrivers while the gen1 don't have any).
Finally got this motherboard!!. Trying to find a case that can take use of all the motherboards " add usb ports" is proving to be almost impossible haha
. All well made mid tower cases dont have 5.25 drive bays making the expansion usb 3.2 or usb C pins usless. Id love to know who likes to pull out the pc to get to the back of the port just to have some really horrible tacky rgb fans on the front instead. I make make music and want to edit videos!
night mare after night mare haha
Corsair 5000D or 5000X
disappointed there isn’t any EK monoblocks for this mobo
Some how I'm glad I got a msi z590 ace paired with a 11700k. Yes the ryzen is better. But you pay more. Its how it is.
I'm glad you went for bang for buck, always a good choice! :)
@@Vinterloft thanks for that comment man. I was thinking that as well because all the ASUS mobo ive bought dont last longer than a year so it worries me. But even among other bad boards, what would you recommend that has a lot of bells and whistles? ASUS seems to be the only one with all the features i want. Gigabyte has been a good experience for me.
@@AndyHTu For AMD, ASRock (they are the smallest company in this business so can only afford to "make an effort" for either Intel or AMD at once, not both) and for Intel I usually prefer EVGA.
Trust it to be me who looks up this MB on Asus website, be the 1st time ive upgraded since 2012... and its not even out yet. I HATE WAITING! haha
🙈😉
Needs more pcie slots… so almost perfect.
Hi, this motherboard arrived tomorrow :) thanks the video. Do you try this memory compatibility: G.Skill F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC - 32 GB - 2 x 16 GB - DDR4? I check the compatibilitiy list, but poor. Sorry for bad english, im hungarian :)
Great in-depth review, as a creator I appreciate the insight!
All for one and one for all (creators :) )
do the thunderbolt port support dp alt mode? i have a cintiq pro wondering if it works with this board.
I haven't tested it myself but I don't see why it shouldn't work :)
I’ve plugged my cintiq tablet into thunderbolt3 port before but it doesn’t transfer both data and video signals thru a single usbc cable. Still have to plug in a usb And a dp cable for the cintiq to work. That’s why I’m wondering.
Hello tech notice does this motherboard has rgb? I read the specs it says it has but I couldn't find video to. See it working
It has RGB headers, but no RGB lights.
It does have the DRAM, VGA, BOOT & CPU LED troubleshooting lights but I don't think that's what you mean.
@@theTechNotice thank you..yes you knew what I mean.. but it's a nice looking board I'm thinking about it so hard.. Or msi mpg x570s max wifi to buy.. Since I'm going to buy a 3200mhz ram so I don't want to buy a brand new motherboard and overclock it right away.. And I saw the msi have to overclock it to reach 3200mhz so I might end up getting the Asus pro art
00:10 Did you ever review that weird little spider thingy gumball?
can u help me with compe of ProArt x570
Curious if anyone else has ran into this. I build my new rig yesterday, spent 12 hours on it only because it kept getting stuck on the green light and wouldn’t post to BIOS screen. The board would keep going through its normal boot cycle(red, orange, white) then got stuck on green and no display on the monitor. Monitor would show its getting signal, but no display. Tried different monitors, HDMI&DP cables. Even tried onboard graphics while disconnecting the GPU. Rebuilt the entire PC 3 times just to be sure things were built correctly. Still nothing changed. Tried booting with 1 stick of ram, nothing. Tried booting without M.2, nothing. Even tried booting with a M.2 with windows already installed, nothing. Did BIOS flashback update. Nothing. Spoke with ASUS and they were dumb founded.
Parts are as follows:
Intel i7 13700k
ASUS Strix 3070
ASUS ProArt Z790-Creator Wifi:
NZXT Kraken Z53
G. Skill Trident Z RGB DDR5 64GB
WD_BLACK 2TB SN850X SSD
Lian Li SL120 V2 fans
Silverstone SX1000 PSU
Are you sure the gpu is working properly?
@@theTechNotice yeah tested it in another build. Also, onboard graphics to the board itself weren’t working either.
@@crimsontheorie7190 what did you end up doing?
@@zodiacman6802 the motherboard ended up needing replaced. Sent it back to ASUS and they sent other back. Only for my CPU to end up bad 2 weeks later. Still testing out a new CPU to make sure it isn’t ASUS’s replacement causing the CPU to go bad.
What is crazy is that the gamers buy so much of these super high productivity hardware bits and can actually gain very little advantage from them… At least it helps keep the price of manufacturing down for the rest of us…. Lol
BADASS Hardware
These mobos look like they belong in NASA… great looking boards. Makes me wanna get one. In the future babe! Still trying to get a new graphics card and explain to wife why it is very necessary to blow 1.5k on it… 🧐
hahaha!
A German site measured all USB ports and all were 10gb!!
😱😱😱😱
Why won’t you build gaming pc ?
There's plenty of people who do that ;)
Thank you, Toni Kroos V2.0
ASUS called the little connector "Q-connector" on my Sabertooth 990FX motherboard (User Guide p. 2-10).
It's the handiest thing they have done in years. It should be criminal to sell a motherboard without including one.
Man, I've been out of the loop, this is super nice! One gripe.. what's the deal with ASUS not giving us a #!#(@ post code on a board at this price point?!
I wouldn't mind that either, but I guess the NO RGB (LED) design would be ruined then... 🤔
@@theTechNotice LOL.. I guess. But at least there's a very good reason for a post code.
I bought this motherboard on July 2022, and till this date I am struggling to get ASUS support
So, to the people in INDIA This is one of the best motherboards but if you face any issue that’s it, the ASUS support in INDIA is pathetic - I escalated issue to all level and no one from ASUS really gave any dam about customer service (even after CEO escalation)
Not I will have to through this and go with another brand
X570 has no thunderbolt 4 port.
Looks like my oldP67 sabertooth ;)
i got the master s by gigabyte
Forget that thing and get the Unifi Dream Machine Pro
I need 7 PCIe slots as a creative. This wouldn't work for me... Every one of the professional creators I work with needs more than 5 PCIe ports. Plus I prefer a motherboard that has NO cables at all. OH, plus something that supports 1.5 TB of Ram and has 64 GB in the GPU. For those that know.... know. (cough) Mac Pro 7,1...
ASUS® PRO WS WRX80E-SAGE SE WIFI + AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3995WX ?
The best motherboard for creators.... Really? I much prefer my Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme trx40. It has twice the ram slots, a Threadripper CPU, 2x 10gbe networking, 4 PCIE x16 sockets and 4x nvme M.2 2gb drives. I can put another 4x M.2 drives in the pcie addon card that comes with the motherboard. It is the best motherboard for content creation and 3d animation.
Yes, and it's a completely different platform - Threadripper.
This motherboard is for the AM4 socket (platform), what would be your choice of creator motherboard for the AM4? 🤔
@@theTechNotice But you didn't say the best AM4 motherboard for creators. That is something else that I have not looked into because I went straight to the TRX40 because I wanted the best rendering performance. I use my machine for contract work so it pays for itself. I am looking at getting the Asus router that you showed. I have had my eye on it for a while because it is one of the only routers with the 10gbe ports.
