    For the know-nothings acting like Rob being on stage is somehow offensive: Jason insisted Rob remain on stage.

    • @BakerImageGroup
      @BakerImageGroup 8 лет назад +5

      +stinkydo0d I agree it's cool to see. The fact is, they didn't have to invite Jason at all (However they know what kind of backlash that would have caused) Never met any of them but seems that Jason and Kirk are the most down to earth of them. Also, Rob seems to be very humble and nice as well. Lars is a loudmouth douche and James is his sidekick. Everybody is talking about how much better Jason is than Rob etc. IT"S BASS PEOPLE! Sure there are techniques that differ but at the end of the day, IT'S ROCK BASS! Not a whole lot of room to show your style when you're holding down the bottom end.

    • @Stinkydo0d
      @Stinkydo0d 8 лет назад +8

      BakerImageGroup I don't think Lars and James are as bad as people say they are. James seems like a guy I could get along with perfectly. But Lars, as Ozzy's wife said, "he needs a good slap once in awhile, but we all love him." So, he is a loudmouth, but not a bad guy really. And I think Jason and Rob are both very good bass players. It's not fair to compare them. Different styles. It's like comparing steak to ice cream.

      Lars is a shitty drummer and a narcissistic douche-nozzle that should've been replaced years ago. The sound of his voice irritates me to the core, but if anything, he is living proof that you don't actually have to be talented to be successful. Right up there with, Courtney Love, Miley Cyrus, every country artist to debut in the last 10 years and tons more that I'm sure haven't gone unnoticed.

    • @saltedllama2759
      @saltedllama2759 7 лет назад +16

      Except that he's one of the reasons their songs turn out as well as they do. He's fine in a studio with a metronome, but yes, he loses touch performing live.

    Look...I respect Rob Trujillo as a bassist. He did great things for Suicidal Tendencies, and what? Ozzy? But the only two that can claim fame for being inducted are Cliff and Jason, and Cliff isn't here any longer. The best albums Metallica came out with, in my opinion, were "Master Of Puppets", and "And Justice For All"... "Kill 'Em All", and "Ride The Lightning" were great as well. After that, the "Black" album, then nothing, if you ask me. What? "Load Of Shit", and "Re-load Of Shit"? Garbage. I used to ride around in my car in the early '80's(83-84), and people would say, "Man, these guys are badass...who is this?" I'd say Metallica... they'd say "WHO?" Metallica changed the genre, then they sold out if you ask me. Just my opinion, but I was a Metallifuck from way back, and I miss the old platform.

    What was the occasion for this? Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction or what? Did they officially bury the hatchet with this or still some anonymosity?

    • @RltchieI
      @RltchieI  8 лет назад +49

      +Kevin Barry Yes it was their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They did indeed buried the hatchet & Jason returned for Metallica's 30th Anniversary Celebration at the Fillmore theater in dec 2011 which was held over four days. Jason played on two tracks on each of the nights. A few comments have been critical of Rob being on stage. It was supposed to be the Black album line up on stage, but Jason insisted Rob play as he is part of the now. Something Deep Purple should this year have done had they been brave enough. Jason has since gone back off the radar as of 2014 only really appearing to pay tribute to Lemmy. Such a shame as his new band were awesome.

    I think that Rob should have sat one out so only Jason was on bass. He was, and still is the longest member of Metallica on bass. And I do think that Mustaine was screwed. He should have been inducted with them as well.

    • @jackiechristensen6563
      @jackiechristensen6563 10 лет назад +2

      Mustaine thought he was slided & held such bitterness about it, not realizing that Megadeth was thriving. Didn't seem like Mustaine enjoyed his own successes with Megadeth because of that bitterness. Jason wanted to go his own way and I think that Robert was a great addition. Enjoy their music so much. Had the good fortune to see them live in 2008. Best concert ever!

    • @JokersWild70
      @JokersWild70 10 лет назад

      I saw them at Lolla in '96 at Irvine Meadows. Rob IS a great addition to Metallica. Mustaine COULD have been inducted as a member of Metallica, as the requirements are (at least 1) that musicians being inducted have to have played on a recording with the band, which Dave did (No Life til Leather). Although I do like Kirk as a guy, and he is a very good guitarist, I think Mustaine was a bit better, but maybe not as nice of a guy, lol. For this, Rob should have stepped down for one song with just Jason, Lars, James and Kirk. and then perhaps vice-versa. Jason did far more than Rob to get Metallica to icon status (as well as Cliff) and although I believe Metallica is past their prime (IMO, they rely WAY too much on Pro-Tools, which sucks the life out of a recording). Still they deserve to be up there. I would LOVE to see a record of James, Lars, Dave and maybe Jason or Dave's bassist make a record. Don't call it "Metallica", chose another name. Megadeths albums were far more organic over a long period of time. But, that will probably never happen...

    • @haydenhensley5322
      @haydenhensley5322 10 лет назад

      Right? I'm pretty sure st anger and dm didn't exactly help them a whole lot getting into the hall.

    • @JokersWild70
      @JokersWild70 10 лет назад

      St. Anger was garbage IMO, and I never even listened to DM, so I cant comment on it. I know that the sound, to me, on St. Anger was horrible. Lars' drums sound like pots and pans, and there were very few hooks or good melodies on it. I believe that Metallica is relying WAY to heavily on Pro-Tools, which makes the recording sound stale and lifeless, and not concentrating enough on good songwriting.

    I find it completely absurd that 'it's 'Jason's return' and yet this other new guy Rob?Is playing as well? No way in the Hell of holy Hell's does that make any logical sense. Can any one on this earth break it down, I don't believe it's possible, it's just completely ridiculous for two bass players to play at the same time and how can it be 'his' return when the new guy is playing bass on top of his bass?? This video does in fact demonstrate insanity quite well and how delusional so called 'tributes' or 'returns' may be if not executed properly.

    • @RltchieI
      @RltchieI  9 лет назад +28

      @Night Maher So a guy leaving a band, injuring himself, having surgery, going through lengthy rehab & playing live with this band for the first time live in 8 years isn't a return? A return for 'one night only' or a comeback from injury in general? This was also the beginning of his return to the music business in general going on to play the 30th anniversary shows & forming his own band. If you can't grasp the logic behind it then I'm afraid that is a problem you have to rectify yourself.
      I could also point out that initially Rob wasn't supposed to play as it was supposed to be the Black album lineup, but Jason insisted he did because he is in the band.

      Night Maher Relax Mate, its just a guest spot he's doing. In this case the word "Return" is just a simpler use. And while I agree that yes there is no real need for 2 Bassists together in one Band, in the odd case it can be done as a one off. I've done it once. Makes for an interesting sound. A British Band called Ned's Atomic Dustbin from the early 90s did it. I didn't care much for them and 2 Bassists in a Band long term simultaneously is..... well..... pointless. But they sounded interesting enough. They have some vids here on RUclips I think.
      Oh and don't forget Spinal Tap's "Big Bottom" :-D

    @DDELFIERRO I actually have both the vids from the RnRHOF uploaded twice. RUclips changed something around the time the HQ/HD options were being tinkered with& the audio on the original uploads went al tinny. So I uploaded this one taking advantage of the higher video quality option. Believe me the audio/video quality is way better on this one than the original youtube killed ;-)
