I bought a facelift model new in 2014 and I still have it. I’ve had many cars over the last 50 years and this one has been the best car I have owned. The build quality is superb and the car has been reliable and economical, averaging 55mpg driving smoothly and gently. The local Peugeot dealer has offered me £3000 to part exchange which is ridiculous. I have looked after the car and have decided to keep it for as long as possible. I am certainly not paying £20,000 upwards, plus my car for a three year old car which won’t do any more than my present car.
Just bought a 2010 / 2011 manual diesel 3008 which local dealer had in as px. He doesn't usually do px, but said the owner didn't want the hassle of selling it. Hpi clear, locally first sold, locally owned. So far so good. The interior looks like it's a one year old car. Even came with nearly half a tank of fuel. The previous owner left his sunglasses in the glasses holder, and his cd in the player. Only thing bad, is paint flaking from rear alloys, but it's booked in to be sorted. Oh and I don't have all the service history, such as cambelt which had apparently been done..... dealer let me take the cover off to check....it's not the original belt, and looks quite new, so likely true. Quite pleased for £1650 One month later, so far so good.
It's much easier for the new owner to remove something they don't like than have to pay to have it fitted..so i think that was a good shout leaving it all in
My mum bought a 65 plate C4 Cactus with a semi automatic in 2021, the gearbox went after 2 months of owning it. Luckily it was under warranty, we had it sorted, ended up part exchanging it straight after!
Neighbours of mine have one of these - they also have two sets of young twins and a dog. It is driven carefully, with by the book servicing. No issues and fine for their needs. The dog is a Cavapoo and doesn't shed hair. Like you, they say it doesn't respond well to aggressive driving but fine for tours and everyday needs.
Matt, Kormoran tyres are a Polish brand owned by Michelin. I recently put a set of Kormoran All Seasons on the Micra K12 that I use for commuting and I have to say they are superb. Really good grip in all the different weather we've had recently.
Hi Matt I brought a 12 - plate 3008 1.6Hdi manual back in Dec 16 with 55000 and had NO issues in the 5 years and 40000miles of ownership and it PASSED every MOT.....so I brought a facelift 16-plate BlueHDi in Dec 2021 and so far so good. Averaging 45-50mpg and they both averaged 65/68mpg on a long run
I've got one of these and after two years so far so good. The wind deflectors may be unsightly but they are needed as you get that wind buffeting noise when driving with a window down. I like it's ugliness too!
Hi Matt. Kormoran Tyres is actually brand owned by Michelin Tyres and producing tyres under their licence mainly for Eastern European markets. Not bad tyres
Kormoran are budget tires. They are made in Serbia by Tigar company. You have brands like Tigar, Kormoran, Orium, Riken all with same thread, just different stamp for different markets. Tigar is owned by Michelin.
One thing I’ll give French PSA stuff, they don’t rust, not sure if that’s because the rest of the car will fall to bits before it has the opportunity 😂 but in reality I think they have a good anti corrosion treatment .
A new High Peak Auto's video. Got my High Peak Bingo Card ready. Going for "Welcome baaaaack....", "The headlights need buffing", "A new set of plates would instantly lift it", "They're going to hate me at the valeters" and "Do we have matching tyres.... No...!" and possibly "Why *Do* people do that... " referring to either a steering wheel cover, seatbelt pad or thedirty/doggy state of the car.
Iv got a Peugeot 5008 .. it's done 153k iv done at least 70k apart from tyres brakes, timing belt, water pump that's it I love it use it as a van as the front seat folds flat so I can get 3m lengths of wood in it I'd buy another one tomorrow..
These seem to be rebranded Tigar UHP, which is Serbian brand also owned by Michelin, and you can see they are made in Serbia on the right of the sidewall.
You were absolutely right Matt, when you said that any car can be reliable, if its properly looked after! Even the French stuff! These are a really good seller, and a well thought out family car. Plenty of market for this type of thing.
Bit weird that they didn't take their dashcam out. Might be interesting to view the footage to see what kind of person owned it. But it was clearly someone's pride-and-joy. Looks well looked after and cared for. Should make good family transport for someone.
Hi Matt a funny, honest car review. A reliable Peugeot 3008 with full service history! Where would you expect to find such a French used car! Good profit margin when sold. Keep up the excellent work !
French used car bashing is not entirely original, is it? I think Clarkson & sons already rode that joke to death, really. Every car will become unreliable on poor maintenance - and the French manufacturers' strategy of throwing in more gadgets for the money than others doesn't help them there.
Kormoran is a brand of tires manufactured by the Michelin concern in the plant in Olsztyn, formerly known as Stomil. Kormoran brand products have retained the traditional logo of the Olsztyn factory, they maintain the tradition of Polish tire industry dating back to the 1960s in this city.
Never really was a fan of Peugeot and yet a year ago I had a 2008 on hire for a week and rather liked it. Good looking, practical, comfortable and nice riding. A good car. I think Peugeot are doing good stuff these days.
I bought a 2014 automatic 3008 41000 miles with full service history, an amazing car I love it, was kinda scared after watching your video on this car but it has been looked after and it's all good 👌🏻🏴
Bought a car last night, did a car vertical check and every thing came back positive. Test drove the car and fell in love. But not only that the same model of car at a dodgy dealership listed everything as perfect but after the car vertical check on that showed A LOT of problems and they clearly wanted to mug me off. So thank you for saving me 👍 I will now always use car vertical before buying a second hand car
Great video as ever Matt. But what a hideous machine, it looks like a jelly mould. My wife had a Peugeot 308SW and we will never forget driving on one journey looking back out our girls in the back engulfed in smoke. I stopped the car immediately and we all jumped out as the smoke completely filled the cabin. luckily it didn't catch on fire and the cause later identified as a wiring issue. No surprise that nobody in the family ever wanted to travel in it again and we will never own a Peugeot again.
The wind deflectors are good if it’s been raining and you need some fresh air the rain water on the car then doesn’t come in all over your door switches
The ECG box is pretty good once you get used to it. I had a C4 Picasso which I did 130k in on the original clutch. It was smooth as long as you anticipated the gear change and not rev the nuts off of it.
I just drive in the manual mode only.. good thing is it downshifts automatically. Raise your leg off the accelerator before changing gear and the drive is much smoother
I've spent quite a bit of time in various Peugeots. I liked the 504 really liked the 505 Gti, and thought the 309 was more grown up than the contemporary Escort and Astra. But..... er, the DS3 I used as a courtesy car wound me up as for 4 days I couldn't work out how to retune the radio, or even turn it off. It was via a touch screen. I work for a certain police force and during lockdown was on different duties and travelled all over the North West, Staffordshire, North Wales and up to the Scottish Borders. I did that in a Peugeot 307 with the 1.6 diesel. It was great, until about 70,000 miles it broke down on the motorway and had to be recovered. It was back a week later, and then broke down again three days later. It went back on a truck. It came back again a week later and lasted all of three hours before...... it was on the back of a truck. It was destined for only one fate, namely to limp through the auctions. Cue the arrival of a Hyundau i30. With more miles on it than the 307. It was faultless. Since then I've used quite a few 308s and they've been OK. We've tended to have the 1.2 three cylinder variant which go quite well, for a while. Once they get up above 75,000 miles they drink more oil than l do beer, in a figurative sense. You could check the level at the start of the shift and it was full. The next shift would come on and it would be halfway down. In some cases you'd get a message saying "STOP!!". At one stage the decision was made to swap the engine of one for another that had been written off. That engine had about 20K on the clock. A week later the expansion tank contained a black liquid instead of pink. Back to workshop and another engine transplant. If you were getting one on PCP and gave it back with 30K showing it could be a good car to have. But if you are the third owner with quite a lot of miles on the clock, I'd suggest parking it behind a reversing HGV and run away.
@High Peak Autos: Kormoran tyres are produced by Polish company Stomil-Olsztyn. The brand has been around since 1994, but the manufacturing facility actually began producing tyres in 1959. That long history itself is reassuring, but what really makes the case for Kormoran is its ownership. The Kormoran brand is part of the Michelin group
I have just this week sold my 2013 manual 3008. I had it for 5 years and the only issue i had was a fuel rail pressure sensor go bad £30 repair and very occasionally a handbrake fault but if you remove the switch and dismantle & clean it it works fine, dirt gets inside it so a good clean with electrical cleaner does the trick. If you service it properly they are very good cars. I think when these first came out they had an injector issue but i think a recall fixed it.
Thanks for the like. Think i might have undersold mine £2500 with new timing belt, clutch and front discs and pads. i was going to keep it thats why i done the work but changed my mind and bought a Jag xf glutton for punishment 😄. Quick sale though. Enjoy your channel very much.
We run one of these, the facelift model, with the full automatic Toyota gearbox, great car, if it's the 1.6 diesel, you should change the oil frequently, I do mine even 7000 miles, also with the facelift the addblue systems are garbage, but these are pretty good cars. The 2.0 hdi can cause you problems but there are not many of these around. Great review too.
I felt in love with the car you just showed, if i were in your country, i would have run to you to buy it, as it is, before anyone else touches it more
I once had a 3008 as a company car. It was the desiel hybrid. Ugly car but superbly comfortable, 60+mpg and extremely practical. 3 years and over 60k or trouble free driving.
I've had a nearly new Peugeot 405 1.6GR 93K for £10,995, 405 1.9TD GLX 95N, 406 2.1TD 97P&2.0HDI 54 run-out both 110bhp. All my Peugeot's were great car's.
That EGC box is known to be a nightmare. I worked for a Pug dealership years ago. Saw loads of unhappy semi auto buyers. You don’t have to release that handbrake to pull away. The car will know you are wanting to move and release it automatically. It’s an exclusive trim level. Top of the range. Ugly cars, but I would only ever buy one with a manual box. Great vid.👍🍻
There's honesty if ever I saw it..... My Golf's electronic handbrake worked in the way you describe Jonathan. Set the handbrake to auto, and it sorted itself out. You set off, and it automatically released. You stop and apply the footbrake, and the handbrake goes on.
Had my 2013 3008 semi auto for 8 years I've done 100,000 miles, nothing ever gone wrong apart from general pads and discs etc . Roll of the dice as you say but look after them, all good.
Had a 2012 508 e-hdi with the semi auto box and had no issues with it for 5 years . 110k on the clock and traded it in for a auris hybrid but miss the interior quality of the 508 . Compared to other peugeots the 508 has an amazing interior with really decent quality . Once you look after them and service regularly they should be pretty reliable.
Honestly I'm not just saying this bit I think these old shape 3008 are bloddy brilliant , I work as a trade plate driver all over the uk so get to drive everything , but these 3008 in the right spec is one of the most comfy relaxing practical cars on the road especially for the price , there like a Peugeot version of a volvo v70
@HighPeakAutos yea mate , you know its like every now and again some cars make no sense but there's something very likable about them , some examples are renault val satis , citroen c6 , the 5 pot volvos like s60 d5 , just a few of the top of my head , I think the honest kinda little pug 3008 fits in that group also, and the 3 pot petrol turbo is surprisingly fun to rip around in (im a fan of the 3 pot and 5 pot sound )
This might have been a motorway cruiser?🤔 If my eyes are still good, looks like the previous owner got average 51.3mpg. 9:33 Not bad. Thanks Matt for the vid. Look forward to the next one.
My first job was at a Peugeot dealer in Sheffield. The year was 1992, and I got to drive loads of cars, which for a 17-year-old car nerd, was my dream job.😃
You reminded me of my old golf instructor who'd say 'i see your still practicing your old mistakes '. At last, clawing back on lost causes, glad it worked out well. Never fancied Peugeot Citroen or Renault, only the odd VW ever catches my eye. Preference Japanese Honda Mazda. Even Nissan.
Kormoran and Tigar are brands in the Michelin group. They are the same pattern as the Tigar I have, meaning not the quietest or particularly great in poor weather but better than an ovation or linglong
I used to have a 508 estate. Pan roof! It was lovely. But the semi auto let it down. The 2 litre diesel had the ZF gearboxes. I'm in the market for a bigger car now, but I need to look at a WAV. Keep getting distracted by all these great cars though! 😂
Another great video from you Matt. I'm a car add comber even if I am not buying because I love to see whats what. I also like the 3008, and in a search, I found a 2010 3008 1.6 HDi with 216,000 miles on the clock so if you're 3008 had needed a new gearbox I would have done it because if looked after, there is another 100,000 miles left on that car. I was recently walking past my local petrol station, and a 307 diesel drove out of it, and it was 2005
I got unreasonably excited to see the auriga plates, five minute walk from my house! I got my x type serviced and MOT'd at dronfield autocare as well, they did the full service for £200 then failed the car for rusty sills and told me they dont do any welding themselves so I'd have to take it elsewhere, was not a happy bunny...
A friend of mine has a 3008 and loves it....but like you Matt I'm not a Peugeot fan ( but I like the split tailgate)....Just to out 'nerd' you the wind deflectors on the rear passenger doors are on the wrong sides.... (the narrow bit goes to the back of the car)....Yes, you guessed I like the wind deflectors and have them on my Vitara! 😁
Good video Matt. Followed & watched your vids for a long while. Dunno how I missed this one. But as I'm driving 4 hrs to buy a 2013 Pug 3008 Allure manual box - mint example for other half, good price so worth it. Wish me luck 😂 Whilst it's a good low mileage well looked after oldie - I'll have the AA app to hand nonetheless. I'm sure it's the first time I've commented on your channel as well (I'm a antisocial lol) Thanks for the great content, always enjoy 👍
Kormoran are a sub brand of Michelin it's the budget range tyre, they're actually pretty decent I'd say they're the best of lowest end tyres , definitely not as good as falkens or Avon's or hankooks but not far off, better than Ling Long's or Rotella (or as we say tortilla) tyres!
The very car which caught my attention looking on your website today... It seems as if a 3008 could represent peak ( no pun intended) value for family car, spacious, comfortable, & with that almost unique tailgate too. One to watch...? Robot gearboxes seem like a problem waiting to happen though. Nice to see evidence of an enthusiastic former owner, rare unless it's a pampered Porsche...
Cracking cars they were. I had a berlingo with that gearbox and apart from it being more indecent than the wife at a shoe shop as was ok. The paddle shifts helped to make its mind up
Well done Matt nice car . Yes I like this car and it shows that if you lookafter your can properly it will look after you . Nice one Matt Kevin fro sunny Radcliffe

Big props to the previous owner for clearly loving this car and preventing Matt from buying a Turkey!

The boot light that is also a torch is a fantastic idea
I would rather that than a pair of umbrellas tethered in the boot
It’s a nice touch
I felt in love with the car you just showed, if i were in your country, i would have run to you to buy it, as it is, before anyone else touches it more
I once had a 3008 as a company car. It was the desiel hybrid. Ugly car but superbly comfortable, 60+mpg and extremely practical. 3 years and over 60k or trouble free driving.
Nice strong car diesel so economical lovely ride over potholes so underrated
I've had a nearly new Peugeot 405 1.6GR 93K for £10,995, 405 1.9TD GLX 95N, 406 2.1TD 97P&2.0HDI 54 run-out both 110bhp. All my Peugeot's were great car's.
Another great video, really enjoying your video's
Had a Hybrid4 version which massively improves the the auto box much changes. Great car and cost me nothing other than servicing/tyres in 50k miles.
Hi Matt.I`m a grandad with grandkids and we do tend to look after our cars. I know the extras are a bit naff buy Hey Ho. Look forward to your vlogs.
Had my 2013 3008 semi auto for 8 years I've done 100,000 miles, nothing ever gone wrong apart from general pads and discs etc . Roll of the dice as you say but look after them, all good.
Hi Matt a good service history thought profit in this car well done again nice video as ever
Yesss, missed the "well we're here"
Had a 2012 508 e-hdi with the semi auto box and had no issues with it for 5 years . 110k on the clock and traded it in for a auris hybrid but miss the interior quality of the 508 . Compared to other peugeots the 508 has an amazing interior with really decent quality . Once you look after them and service regularly they should be pretty reliable.
Another good video with your humour. Keep up the Great work.
I quite like the way they drive
@HighPeakAutos yea mate , you know its like every now and again some cars make no sense but there's something very likable about them , some examples are renault val satis , citroen c6 , the 5 pot volvos like s60 d5 , just a few of the top of my head , I think the honest kinda little pug 3008 fits in that group also, and the 3 pot petrol turbo is surprisingly fun to rip around in (im a fan of the 3 pot and 5 pot sound )
@@alpinab14the 3 pot is fun until the cambelt disintegrates into the oil.
Alot better than the 1 i viewed recently described as mint by stevie wonder
I've had my fingers crossed throughout the entire video, and it paid off 😁😁😁 Good video, Matt.
Thanks for the faith
This might have been a motorway cruiser?🤔 If my eyes are still good, looks like the previous owner got average 51.3mpg. 9:33
Not bad.
Thanks Matt for the vid. Look forward to the next one.
Love the videos, Very informative and learn a lot! Keep them going!
Wow a reliable Peugeot well done Matt they are out there
That torch/boot light reminded me of a Skoda favorit I used to have, how upmarket 😂
The grab handle made me spit out my tea Matt 😂🤣👌
My first job was at a Peugeot dealer in Sheffield. The year was 1992, and I got to drive loads of cars, which for a 17-year-old car nerd, was my dream job.😃
You reminded me of my old golf instructor who'd say 'i see your still practicing your old mistakes '.
At last, clawing back on lost causes, glad it worked out well. Never fancied Peugeot Citroen or Renault, only the odd VW ever catches my eye. Preference Japanese Honda Mazda. Even Nissan.
The farcry 3 reference in the into is top notch
Been treating us with these videos this week👍🏼👀
Thanks
A grand practical car for someone, with a nice spec. Perfect for low cost daily use.
Kormoran and Tigar are brands in the Michelin group. They are the same pattern as the Tigar I have, meaning not the quietest or particularly great in poor weather but better than an ovation or linglong
Kormoran is a Polish tire brand. Saludos del Perú 😊
Another excellent video Matt , pleased you got a good profit in this one 👍
I used to have a 508 estate. Pan roof! It was lovely. But the semi auto let it down. The 2 litre diesel had the ZF gearboxes.
I'm in the market for a bigger car now, but I need to look at a WAV. Keep getting distracted by all these great cars though! 😂
fun video love your humour ,a good family car m8
Hi Matt, lovely looking car and a profit, wtg 👍 you. another entertaining video, all the best from Nick the Lexus guy Wolsingham.
The holy trinity of aftermarket tat: steering wheel cover, wind deflectors and seat belt protectors..
My grandparents had a manual one ages ago, not a bad car; however, this one you have purchased has all the works.
I'm sure it's the first time I've commented on your channel as well (I'm a antisocial lol)
Thanks for the great content, always enjoy 👍
Good morning Matt hopefully you got another winner. It's not my cup of tea but good luck with it. Cheers Phil from Newark
Nice car Matt and as usual a great video with funny quips 😅
Kormoran are a sub brand of Michelin it's the budget range tyre, they're actually pretty decent I'd say they're the best of lowest end tyres , definitely not as good as falkens or Avon's or hankooks but not far off, better than Ling Long's or Rotella (or as we say tortilla) tyres!
Fantastic car well done matt 👏
The very car which caught my attention looking on your website today... It seems as if a 3008 could represent peak ( no pun intended) value for family car, spacious, comfortable, & with that almost unique tailgate too. One to watch...? Robot gearboxes seem like a problem waiting to happen though. Nice to see evidence of an enthusiastic former owner, rare unless it's a pampered Porsche...
Another great video!
Thanks!
Cracking cars they were. I had a berlingo with that gearbox and apart from it being more indecent than the wife at a shoe shop as was ok. The paddle shifts helped to make its mind up
I still own my 5008 2012, miles are clocking on now, I have owned the fleet RR, BMW 5 series, but can honestly say very comfortable on a long journey
Well done Matt nice car . Yes I like this car and it shows that if you lookafter your can properly it will look after you .
Nice one Matt
