  • Every expedition aboard National Geographic Explorer travels with an undersea specialist who dives with a video camera to bring back footage for our guests to watch in the dry warmth and comfort of our lounge. While our Patagonia expedition guests were having close encounters with southern right whales, our undersea specialist had this rare encounter. Video by Steve Ewing.

Here in Argentina it is a crime to dive or touch a whale, there are protected areas or sanctuaries because in places like the Valdez Peninsula, where although you can go by tourist boat to a very small specific area, they go to mate and have their babies, I am referring to the southern right whale, the same with penguins, there are areas that are untouchable, I invite you to look for national parks in Argentina, it is a country with one of the largest volumes of protected areas and national parks.
