thanks for the tip. It has saved me a lot of time. When something as simple as writing a letter doesn't work, you don't give up until you repeat it a thousand times.
You're very welcome. Quite a few things they changed in 4.1 that's outta whack now. I want my shade auto smooth back and I to insert keyframe natively. I just wonder what were they thinking!?!
You are very welcome! I'm sorry it took so long to find this I've had that happen to me too. Search for hours through a bunch of videos to find the one video that was actually helpful.
Heehee you're very welcome! I thought I was hitting the wrong keys at first then looked at my keyboard nope I was doing what I had done in a previous version. Happy to help!
You're very welcome! The last what 2 or 3 releases they've changed things that annoyed me. Main one is the key frame keybind. Second one is the modifier panel. I never paid attention to the headers in that panel so when they changed it I had to go on a hunt to find things. I really don't know why they felt the need to change it. It's workflow disruptive.
@@malogovoru570 thank you! Some of the newer tutorials will probably have the new way but now you can follow some of the older ones. They keep shifting and moving things from one version to the next. Once you get used to the interface you should be able to find what you need. The more you use it your Blender journey will get easier.
I wish they'd just leave the keybindings alone in the development of Blender. It's a matter of searching Blender's preferences to see what's there. Most of the time it's something that hasn't been enabled or in this case they changed the hot key for that action. I still have a hard time finding the modifiers I need since they changed them to be drop down. I don't remember if the previous version had headers at the top because frankly, I never looked at them. I just knew where they were in the dialog box now I have to search for it which is annoying.
@@somegreybloke you're very welcome! Why? That's the million dollar question. I don't think it's because they want to frustrate all of us but that's exactly what happened.
That's odd it shouldn't be doing that after you change it. The 4.2 preferences menu is different than 4.1. In the keymap area of preferences search for keyframe and look at each one I is on. Maybe you accidentally put it on something else?
I really wish they would stop changing things like this, if its for a vail reason then fair enough, I just don't see the point in this update though. Thank you for this gem
You are very welcome and I 100% agree. It was always "I" to insert a keyframe for years and years and I seriously don't understand why they felt the need to change it. What purpose did it serve other than to frustrate us to no end?
@AnitaPotterProductions there's been a couple subtle changes to hotkeys and its driving me insane. Kind of unrelated but does the clear rotation hot key work for you? (Alt+R) it used to work fine for me, says its still the hotkey but it simply does nothing, I have to use the F3 menu
@@homborgor Lemme take a look. I'm having keyboard issues (i.e. I need a new one). Alt+R still clears the rotation for me but let me check one more thing. It works as long as you don't apply the rotation then try to clear the rotation later. If you rotate and go oops you can fix it but if you rotate then apply that rotation you can't clear it later on.
@@AnitaPotterProductionsUnless there's another issue created by doing this, I was able just select the "K" button next to Insert Keyframe Menu and it prompted me to select another key to bind to that action. So I just pressed "I". So now both my Insert Keyframe and Insert Keyframe Menu actions are bound to "I". Rather than having to rewrite the Insert Keyframe action to also open the menu. As far as I can tell, the results are the same. I just wasn't sure if there was a specific reason you didn't do this.
