I have been using these for a year …. I love them but now I can’t play on any other controller unless I have this lol

    These are normally quite expensive,
    Roughly £12 / £15 .
I bought them in the black friday sale for £4 .
When I opened the pack and saw them I wasn't impressed but as soon as I put them on and tried them I was blown away .
These things are definitely worth trying !
You can increase your sensitivity to the max .

    Awesome review! Thanks for posting.
After being an above average Brandon (see what I did there? Lol) on Halo 1, 2, and 3. I let the game go when I saw the direction of Halo 4 and 5. So just coming back and having played Halo Infinite for almost a year I was one of those players persuaded by the marketing of the “Precision Rings.”
Instantly I felt the same way you did, although stabilizing, the rings severely limited basic movement and upping the settings was a necessity.
I played with the soft ring for over a month and was affected by the thumb fatigue you spoke of, but what I also experienced was a thumb muscle strengthening. My hand eventually started to get use to the tension and it felt good. But the problem was that my movement was still very limited.
So then I went back to running my Elite 2 without the ring and I noticed that I had way more control over my thumb stick and was now prepared to go to the next level in my gaming. (Diamond 3 and climbing)
Overall I feel the rings are a sort of gimmick and not a replacement for practice, practice, practice. But there is some use to them, with the thumb and hand strengthening.
Love the content bro! Still want to run some Halo with you on one of your Saturday sessions!

Fantastic review from someone who used them much more than I did, hope others considering come down and see what you put. And much love bro!! I should be streaming for a normal amount of time this Saturday if you pop in!

I have them but couldnt take to them, over priced bits of foam really, honestly made my aim worse, I like fill tension on my right stick which is enough on the Elite 2 for me. Though its a personal preference thing, they may suit some people and some games.

On a regular controller these make it impossible to turn normally. On max settings, with softest ones. Totally useless. It is a shame, sounds like a cool idea

I don’t doubt that they can help some people, but for me personally this was the case.

I think for shooters is only the right stick. Movement shouldn’t have resistance.

For cod it's good because you can put the sense higher and mess with deadzones

do these work on the scuff xbox controller?

Some people will buy any old shit.
I might just be a old git.
but imo sensitivity up, aim assist off, and just gain muscle memory. You can't buy map and pre fire angle knowledge.

These do not work well with Elite or Elite Series 2. I use them on my scuf instinct and my power A pro. I use a green on my right stick. They stopped my over aiming. Obviously not for everyone but thanks for taking my suggestion and reviewing them. I found sweet spot for me sensitivity wise. After watching your aiming videos, I use 4Acel 5.5 H 9 V & my accuracy went from 50%’s to 60-68%. The reason for the 9V is the flick up for the headshot.

    • @AboveAverageCody
      @AboveAverageCody  Год назад

This is fair. Like I said not a doubt in my mind they help some people! Just really weren’t for me. And I don’t see elite users wanting them as the stick tension can easily be adjusted

I’m not advocating one way or the other, but I will say that if you have an Elite S2 controller you can quite easily compensate for the turning resistance by changing the stick setting to one of the Aggressive settings. This makes it so that you do have the benefit of the stick stability without having to worry about slowed turn speed.
That being said I think the Elite S2 controller is the only controller that can take advantage of that Aggressive stick setting and if thats the case then needing to spend $175 on a controller just so that you can take advantage of some foam rings to stabilize your aim might not be the wisest route to take to help your aim.
I did already own an Elite S2 and I bought these to try them out because I feel like the Elite Sticks could use 1 more tension setting for me personally, but I digress. Once you get the settings dialed in they work like a charm but after you get used to using them, taking them off will seriously fuck up your game.
So if this is the solution you want to pursue to help stabilize your aim then you gotta full commit, spend the money to make them work, and not go back.
One last con is that if you dont have removable thumbsticks like the Elite S2 has, then you have to slide the ring over the top of the stick and it just barely fits over them. If you ever need to take them off and then put them back on then its only a matter of time before they break, and break they will.
So to preserve the life of the rings you either need swappable sticks or a dedicated controller for the game you use them for. Either way its a pricey solution to make it all work right.

Fantastic review, again! So glad you guys take the time to write out what you thought of things so hopefully people who scroll down see more real life users. But yeah, I really didn’t address other controllers in the video and how solid and great the stick adjusting is on the elite 2. I’ve heard from other who love them on looser sticks, so definitely have a place. Like you said with how much money an elite two costs, the relatively inexpensive foam is the way to go for some! Again awesome comment man I appreciate it

Couldn't this in theory be done with magnet's in hall effect gamepads? Why not say have 3 setting's on the controller for different strength of magnetic pressure needed to push the thumb stick's?

@@AboveAverageCody . If everyone did the same thing life be boring lol . Only reason I use em is I wish the elite 2 had a tad more resistance . I hope with the elite 3 the slings are lil stronger in the thumb sticks or that it has a 3 step to can crank down instead of just 2
I also play on (Aim) 10/10 with 0 dead zones

I got a pack of generic rings to compensate for my controller's loose-feeling sticks. I went from a Victrix Gambit controller to a Vader 3 Pro and the sticks on the Vader are a bit too loose for my liking. I feel like the scenario to use them for general stick tension adjustments would be an ok reason to get them, but I wouldn't pay 10 bucks for a set of foam rings when you can get 12 of the generic ones for like 3 dollars.
Great review btw, really appreciate the testing and pros and cons you provided!
Just as a note, I haven't tested them yet, they'll take like 2 weeks to get here.

I wouldn't use it for halo but i would for cod. Also not everyone has that much time to spend practicing like myself i get on for a couple hours so my fine tune adjustments are not there anymore but I'll give these a go for cod because i play on 7-7 and will probably go to 10-10 maybe higher and come back to edit my comment to let you know what i think

    What do raised thumbsticks do?

    • @AboveAverageCody
      @AboveAverageCody  2 года назад +2

Tbh they kind of just make it so you don’t use as much “muscle” to move the stick. It technically makes for more precise aiming, but leads to using lower sens and such. Kinda the opposite outcome of the rings oddly enough. But I tried it once and loved it since, different things work for everyone

It’s much much easier to “pin” your stick if you take the raised stick off. I was playing raised stick and I tried the rings and I liked the feel of the ring, but with the raised stick I couldn’t pin it. Once I took the tossed stick off it worked great and gave me the resistance I wanted and I could flick just fine.
They’re both good but they’re not really compatible for a game like Halo.
