In "Oh my god" where Soyeon is rapping about paying the piper, she's probably referencing the Pied Piper of Hamelin. The Pied Piper is a story about this guys who was supposed to lure all these rats out of a town, but then no one wanted to pay him so he lured all the children out of the town as punishment. It kind of makes sense in the context of this song since it's all about being tempted or lured plus the slight religious context of this song (referencing like the idea of sin plus the debatable LGBTQ context of this song).

I recomend you to listen to BIBI, she's a soloist and really under rated, i rarely see people reacting to her. She is super talented and is personally my fav of all time. Its a bit different than kpop, i think its K-RNB. I would recomend ANIMAL FARM, BIBI VENGEANCE, JOTTO, LOWLIFE PRINCESS and LIFE IS A BI (Thank you for all your reaction i really enjoy watching it ! and sorry for bad english)

1. in nxde, soyeon is wearing a bullet bra/torpedo bra. bullet bras were popular especially back in the wartime era of the 1940s/50s as women wore them while working in factories to protect themselves from injuries. they weren't just for working women tho, as they were also a fashion statement piece, often worn by notable celebrities, namely marilyn monroe. nxdes concept is based off of her which is why soyeon is wearing one.
2. the song sampled in nxde is Habanera, an aria from Georges Bizet's 1875 opéra comique Carmen. it's a popular piece, which is why it sounded familiar.

Also the story behind lion is really cool. They were competing on a music show and one of the categories that everyone had to do was an original new song. The company that gidle is under had absolutely nothing prepared for them and left them high and dry. So instead of taking that. Soyeon(the leader and main rapper) worked really hard and produced lion.
Overall, the BEST of the 4th generation! You may enjoy their Uh Oh, m/v, My Bag, and, Hwaa m/v's to see more of their variety. Thanks for appreciating (G)I-dle.🤩🤩

Fun fact : Soyeon wrote the song nxde to raise awareness for cp in korea. So when disgusting men would search “aibeul nxde” which means “nxde children” and aibeul is pronounced as aideul (idle in korean) (G) I-DLE would pop up instead. When soyeon wrote the last line of nxde, it translates to “Im born nxde, the pervert is YOU.” and if you think otherwise, YOU are the problem.

I love (G)i-dle! Their songs are so empowering! Girl boss energy! Very diferent from every other girl group
DO mamamoo now!!! They're the only other girl group than G-idle that seems very unique to me
the thing that makes idle so different is that they write compose, produce and also are the creative directors for their music. Soyeon, the rapper and leader is the most credited woman in 4th gen with 81 credits with her members Yuqi (deep voice) and Minnie (bangs) each having 11 and 13 respectfully. She is genuinely a visionary icon and makes sure that their music features important messages that are delivered through costumes, concept pics, music videos, lyrics as well as promotion, not to mention she has written for other artists and has been praised by legends in the industry numerous times, winning her the best songwriter award at the 2022 MMAs. All of the girls have a say in their music and their creative direction however so each comeback is truly a group effort and it pays off. They are incredible performers, and like you said they use their faces in such an expressive way so I think it might be interesting for you to see some of their live stages, especially their 2022 MMA and Mama performances as well as having a look at their put it straight Nightmare version dance practice/performance. Their US debut EP "HEAT" is out this friday, october 5th, with the title track "I want that", it is an entirely English album under another label so they haven't participated in creating the songs this time, however some major names in the industry such as Ryan Tedder and Meghan Trainor have written for them. One of the songs "I DO" was released in july as a prerelease and the MV is also out.
the word "tomboy" is used in a derogatory way in korean. when a girl acts too 'manly' aka speaking up for herself etc (korean society is insanely patriarchal) they would call the girls tomboy and make fun of them. near the end soyeon says "you get the song right? you get what i mean tomboy" basically telling us she's not referring to the tomboy that we know but rather what is used in korea. they're basically reclaiming it and making it something empowering instead :)) same with queencard. its mainly used for popular girls to kinda make fun of them but in the song they reclaim it and make it something, again, empowering

When it come to Gidle they are always trying to portray a message and that may be because the members are the ones that produce their songs mostly their leader which is the girls y’all said was creepy 😂 but yeah in order to understand their songs you have to understand their message for example nude was about how women are sexualised in the music industry well in general putting Merlin as an example who is known for her sexy blond image but in reality was quite smart and had many other qualities but people just remember her for her looks that’s the message they tried to portray with nude their songs especially after one of the members was kicked out by the company they have tried to make a change with their music

"Oh my God" is a beautiful representation of lesbian relationship story. It's about forbidden, sinful and lustful. Minnie being dragged at the beginning means the attitude of the society towards gay people throughout the history, to the extent of locking them in asylums.
The sound bite you liked in the Nude video with the violiins was a bordello theme used frequently.

You should definitely check out Dumdi Dumdi, Hann, Hwaa, Allergy and Queencard. (g)I-dle is an amazing girl group, and a lot of their stuff is written/produced by Soyeon, their main rapper. If you really enjoyed them, I recommend you also check out Everglow and XG. (g)I-dle, Everglow, and XG are my top 3 girl groups (though I love guy groups way more so even having top girl groups is saying something). I like edgier girl groups with a bit more rap and complex songs, not the bubblegum pop ones. Everglow’s songs I recommend Dun Dun, Bon Bon Chocolat, Ladida, First, Pirate, and Slay. XG’s tracks I recommend are Tippy Toes, Mascara, Shooting Star, and Left Right.
The creepy one is Soyeon, who writes and produces most of their songs, but they all write.

...the Pied Piper of Hamelin? "pay the piper" means you'll suck it up and do what you have to do to settle your debts. It's an alliteration to the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. BASICALLY (a not perfect retelling): The story goes that there was a village, Hamelin, that had a rat problem. A musical man playing a pipe flute came by and told the village that he would take care of their rat problem for them if they'd only pay him to do so. They promised to pay him 1000 guilders to take care of the rats. The man then played his flute and marched the rats right out of town and into the Weser river where they all drowned. The villagers rejoiced but then reneged on the deal to pay the piper. He told them, if you refuse to pay, there will be consequences. The villagers scoffed, telling the man to leave their town and never come back. The man left, but then strangely, by the next day, all of the children of the village had marched themselves out of the village. The piper had exacted his revenge. Thus, when the piper comes calling, you always pay him.
Darker versions of the story say the piper drove the children into the river to drown as well. Other versions state that the reason the villagers wouldn't pay him is because they thought that maybe the piper had brought the rats to the town to extort them out of money. Moral of the story, pay your debts and don't anger magicians/musicians with magic flutes.

Yep, I would argue they really are "the Stray Kids of the girls", and vice versa could be true as well, since they debuted around the same time! They are one of the most hands-on groups to exist in kpop, three of the members produce and write most of their music, and Soyeon (leader) also chooses the whole concept and aesthetics. She's also undoubtedly the best female rapper of the 4th generation

I'm a big fan of both and I would say they actually are similar in many great aspects, so yeah, no harm intended, but I see why you would see it as a bad terminology
It’s really very normal for a person to compare a new thing they discover to a thing they’re already familiar with. It’s a point of reference. We will naturally notice similarities and contrasts to things we know well, in their case Stray Kids. It’s also the way we categorise things in our minds, like things with like things.
The reason these 2 groups are comparable is simple: they both produce their own music, they both try a wide range of genres and concepts and they stand out from the crowd and aren’t afraid to be themselves within the industry that tends towards cookie cutter groups or systems. It’s the reason both these groups are my ults and the reason I found and continue listen to K-pop daily. Most other groups don’t compare, but these two certainly do.
@@NemosNotes I love Gidle and respect Skz. But I've never seen anyone refer to Stray Kidz as "the male Gidle". Yet that comparison happens a lot to Gidle and other girl groups. There is inherent sexism in that. That's one of the biggest problems with these comparisons. Women can only ever be the female version of a man.
