I actually like the really loud keyboards. It reminds me of the days when I used to play with the typewriters in my mom's workplace. Not the electric typewriters. The mechanical ones. So satisfying in seeing the process of customizing them.
Yes! My favorite keyboard has loudish clicky brown switches and the spacebar has that unmistakable hollow clack sound like a typewriter or the old mechanical keyboards from the 80's. The whole sound experience is nostalgic and weirdly comforting. I love that keyboard.
I like them because it reminds me of my grandpa's attic before he cleared it out. He had this really old school keyboard and my ADHD ass would be entertained by the clicking and pushing buttons and shit for HOURS XD
To everyone that likes the sound of "clicky" switches, it's nice and all, but most of the clicky sound coming from this pre-modded keyboard isn't the clicky switches, but the extremely rattly stabs XD. That isn't the "clicky sound" we want

Could someone explain to me why the keyboard sounded bad in the beginning? I’m genuinely curious what the difference between a good and meh sounding keyboard
People just hate the blue switches because they find them to be noisy, even though clicky siwtches proved themselves to be one of the best picks for gaming due to their actuation point being the most precise when trying to build muscle memory. Users who do more typing than gaming, on the other hand, find the linear(mostly red) switches to be a much more preferable choice.
Blue switches are “clicky” meaning they make more noise but red switches are preferred for gaming because of their shape making it easier to use and quicker.
I've actually had this keyboard since December. It was my first "mechanical" keyboard and I kinda liked it! It's officially retired though as I just switched over to the Keychron C1 with Gateron Reds due to moving out and living with roommates, I don't want those clicky blues to piss off my new roommates haha
This channel really went from person reviewing stuff in front of their desk/bed and upgraded to one of the absolute best keeb channels with some of the most entertaining content in a few weeks like HOW

Just a recommendation, add a little fresh solder to the pins you want to desolder and then wiggle the desoldering gun for about 5 seconds to make sure its all melted, and press the button while still wiggling
This was so fun to watch; love your casual commentary. I started on these cheap mechs before I got into building keebs with higher-quality kits and PCBs; the sound of rattley stabs and switches in a hollow plastic case is something I'll never quite be able to erase from my memories. As shown in the final sound test, a lot can change with some foam and lube! I think being able to upgrade existing keebs is fulfilling in it's own way. 😄
Probably more on the time consuming and burning yourself and inhaling dem toxic fumes scale. Hotswap has made a common occurrence and it's here to stay 😎👍
Not really. Lubing is. I spent 3-4 hours lubing, and only 1 hour soldering/desoldering. To me, the dangerous aspect is what makes it not boring. Although yes, hotswap really changes everything.

tips about spray painting: make sure by applying it evenly and do 3 coats, make sure you evenly glide your hand 4 or 5 inches above the object you are spraying, if you want you can put a plastic cover over the object to prevent any imperfections. spray evenly by going left to right, up and down, and spraying diagonally. make sure that you arent spraying on one part of the surface too much or you will have a coating that is not even.

No hate, I actually prefer how it first sounded. Kinda because I love loud keyboards. And because like- it doesn't sound like talking, but I like chill commotion. But the outcome is amazing as well!
If you're thinking of a keeb less than 20 bucks, the Leaven K620 can sound nice with some mods. I got it to sound creamy using the stock keycaps and red switches
