I’m not religious, but I really appreciate and enjoy [religious] imagery and concepts, and I think there are a lot of valuable stories in the bible. when roger waters came to brazil in 2018 there were SO MANY PEOPLE deeply mad at the concert ,screaming they came for music and not for politics. There was even one famous tweet saying that he (roger himself) has misunderstood the meaning of another brick in the wall. It's been 6 years and I'm still surprised by the whole thing.

Might be a bit of a hot take, but now I see why people say that gatekeeping is a good thing. Not in the way of "Oh you aren't a fan if you can't name this very niche fact", but the kind that just actively hates what they're engaging in and are only there for the discourse/drama. Especially when you have grifters and stupid fools look for social validation anywhere and sometimes even have ulterior motives to change things in their own miserable spitting image, usually because they can't stand others having fun.
There's a huge difference between a band deciding to experiment with their sound, and having it forced on them. Seems eerily similar to what's been going on in the gaming and anime community.
I'm willing to bet that at least half of these people crying only listened to like a quarter of the songs on Amo and That's the Spirit, and are the type that go to a Steve Lacey concert to not remember the lyrics. And now we have another split of people that think BMTH is immediately going to crap after Jordan Fish went. I'm just looking forward to what they're cooking next.

Honestly, I saw someone say it somewhere, but as a fellow Christian I don’t think the poster in this case is meant to disrespect Christianity. If the line was just, “If Jesus comes back we’ll just kill the fucker.” Maybe would be? But the fact he put “2x” is referring to how when Jesus was here the first time around, he showed all the people his teachings and miracles, and despite all that, they still didn’t wanna believe which led to his crucification. So I think he’s literally just saying if he ever came back down a second time, humanity would literally just repeat history cause humanity never learns from mistakes and doomed to repeat history.

I'm an atheist (igtheist to be precise if anyone cares lol) and people are often surprised at how much Christian music I listen to. Why tho? I just love music man, and there are some really good Christian rock and metal bands out there that I've been listening to for years, even decades. In the same vain, people who "vibe with JC" should be comfortable with listening to (and esp RESPECTING) people who do not "vibe" with him.
So all those comments are the persecution complex ("you can't say Merry Christmas anymore" lol), everyone has a right to express their beliefs. Bring Me is not persecuting anyone here, however, people feel attacked, why? Would they feel the same way about atheists who were crying about, idk, finding out after so many years that TFK was a Christian band all along? No. They believe that they have the right to express their beliefs, but if someone expresses diff beliefs then that is persecution. But why do i take this so seriously? Bc i was actually persecuted a few times for not being a believer in a predominantly Christian country, and I simply do not like when someone is crying persecution when they are not persecuted. I've been insulted, lost friends, even partners bc of this. That's persecution, not someone being a bit "edgy" on twitter lol

this is just one of those things that sound good in the context of a heavy song without too much thought into it, but reading it by itself without context is kinda weird. recently for their new album they’ve been writing lyrics from the perspective of different social groups. from amens “i hope you die rotting in hell” and “suck a dick heretic”, to kool-aids “we are the children of the devolution, the infamous martyrs the scars if the sun” and “nobody loves you like i love you oh my dear, but you shouldve known that this was gonna end in tears” as well as the other singles about more personal stuff. basically this is nothing new and is just part of their new era i guess idk but out of context it does look wild af, but literally if you follow them at all, not even “before sempiternal”, you should’ve already known that they aren’t a very christian friendly kind of band and don’t need to be heavy to show it

I think the only reason most people attack Christianity is because, out of the two mainstream world religions, (Christianity and Islam), they know that Christians will get annoyed, maybe stop listening to your music or whatever, and then will carry on like normal.
The other? Well... You already know.
Honestly, the whole Christian hating trope in metal is overplayed and lame. The only reason bands feel comfortable pullings stunts like this is to capitalize on the outrage of a group that notoriously does nothing in response. If they had any balls they would be anti-islam but we all know that no band would do that. That being said, the new stuff they’re putting out are absolute bangers.
I amChristian, I’m a metal head, I’ve liked bring me for a few months, I couldn’t care about this one bit, they have their opinions, oh well, they still make great music. People just get mad about blunt front facing words, they never research and read into stuff and cry about what they see in front of them
As a Christian also, I agree with the one post talking about it is their own free will and right to express themselves. Some people may find it toxic, cringy but still it is their choice and they know the consequences of it as well. I just get sad when people point out other people’s wrongdoings thinking that they are better than them but in reality they might be in the same realm as them or even worse.

All the people bitching about this are the same people that think that their way is the ONLY way and damn you for saying different. We're entitled to very few things in life, but our own understanding of the world around us is definitely one of those things. We have to listen to them talk about how evil our music is and how we're going to go to hell, but the second we say something against THEIR beliefs, call in the fucking holy inquisition. Sorry for the rant to all my open-minded religious friends.
I’m from England, the UK is a secular state and has been since the 1960s. England and Wales are two of the least religious countries in the world . Bring Me are from Sheffield in England and have many very OBVIOUS lyrics stating their atheist beliefs. It shouldn’t be surprising to anyone
@carlashep29xo I live in Ohio in the US. There's a church, gun store, liquor store, or any combination of the three on every street corner. The Bible bangers here can't keep their nose out of everyone else's business. It's always a one-sided deal with them, their way, or your going to hell.

I’m a Christian and I could really care less, it’s just cringe, like something an edgy emo band from 2005 would do. Also just saw their tour in Adelaide and they were amazing live. Sleep Token was ok live, more of just a vibe, but BMTH did an awesome show
Same here. I was at their Sydney show and loved it! I don’t like the disrespect towards Christianity, but they can do whatever they like.
But for everyone else dogging on Christians, just imagine what would happen if Islam was disrespected like this…
