There is no barrier. The trash can got hotter simply because he was in there. They didn't detect his heat signature, per se, but that of the trash can

I found a way so u won’t get tracked by the helicopter
An emergency aluminum blanket will keep the helicopters from detecting your heat, but only for a limited amount of time. It keeps the heat in the blanket, but eventually, heat will begin to escape. Pro tip if you're gonna run from the cops: Turn your emergency blanket into a cute jacket for ultimate thermal cloaking.

When I was in the Navy, I was an avionics technician. I am certified in FLiR, and one of my favorite things to do, was during calibration on the flight deck at night, zoom in on the night watches, and count the hairs on their head. I once saw a dude at the other end of the carrier, pick his nose and flick it! 🤣🤣

That helicopter camera is pretty sweet. Shows house addresses and distances and stuff. Not to mention the advanced heat sensor that shows his heat through thick plastic. Neat.

Very nicely coordinated teamwork between the Aircrew and ground Officers (and superbly detailed mapping that the Aircrew had, displaying clearly numbered houses which ground Officers could be directed to).
Without doubt, the psychological effect of the dog barking led the fleeing suspect to surrender.
When arrests can be made without anyone getting injured is a good outcome.
