There is no better example of a 2000s bike keeping up and exceeding than the old GIXR vs new Ducati video that Revzilla did a few years back. Speed is king.
I had a 2016 tuono factory, I deeply miss that motorcycle, it’s vicious and buttery smooth all at the same time, the steering is almost telepathic. If there is ever a bike that lives up to the hype people have bestowed on it, it’s the Tuono, they are magical and I will definitely get another one now that I’ve had experience with many bikes.
I‘ve been riding my 03 Tuono for 2 years now. I picked it from a dealership while test riding new nakeds to get back into riding after 16 years (always wanted to have one since I had test ridden a factory version back in 06). First I thought It would kill me but after a season of easing in it started to give me so much confidence when going fast on the road. Occasionally the rear tire spins and the back end steps out a bit but never really in an intimidating way because of the great mechanical grip the superb chassis provides.
Is it the ghost of Christmas past? No... it is the Whitney of Christmas present! Good to see Whitney out on a bike! Glad you two did a video. This was a nice Christmas present. Aprilia is my favorite brand of pasta rocket.
Tuono v4 was the first liter bike I ever rode. It accelerated so hard I panicked for a second hit the brakes and my brain smashed into my skull. Best headache ever.
You know what Italian bike I haven’t seen you on? The Moto Guzzi V7. I’d be nice to hear your opinion on one, maybe even compare it to a Triumph or Japanese Neo-Retro.
I saw a v7 stone at a piaggio dealership near me, its in this matte bronze and black colour, its one of the most beautiful motorcycle ive ever laid my eyes on.
For anyone considering a Tuono, just do it. Love my 2023 non-Factory. Its a beast, and I love it to death. If the weather is good this weekend, I need to let Bella Donna out again.Thank god Colorado hasn't seen much snow yet
You guys reminded of when my buddy let me ride his ZX6R for the first time. After about 20 mins on the highway together, I started downshifting and doing some pulls. After we got off the highway, he goes “I could hear you start figuring it out and I just lost it” 😂 Love the Spite - Whitney Duos!
The video description is even more epic than your videos. " a thousand tentacles each the size of a skyscraper burst forth from the sturgeon depths and drag me under" for the win.
The 2002 Tuono was the naked of the Aprilia Mille. It gave me the best memories, but also as a city traffic daily gave me the worst memories. That Rotax motor was the best part. I loved this ride down memory lane.
I’ve owned my ‘03 Tuono R since ‘08. It is always fun and dead reliable. On top of that it still turns heads. People don’t know what it is but they know it’s special. It’s still got its aura all those years later.
I’ve owned my ‘03 Tuono R since ‘08. It is always fun and dead reliable. On top of that it still turns heads. People don’t know what it is but they know it’s special and they stop me to ask questions. It’s still got its aura all those years later.
That's what made me pull the trigger on the R Limited. It looks great, performs amazing with a killer motor (this one has the big bore kit) and it's a cool piece og history since it's a numbered bike.
Picked up a 23 tuono 660, didn't feel skilled enough anymore for a v4 and getting an older one has one serious other issue. Being able to get it serviced. Closest dealer is3 hrs away and they won't work on the older model. Finally found a local tech that works out of his garage. Love the tuono
The only way to really feel what a motorcycle can do, bring it to a racetrack. Fast laps. Brake that front into the tarmac and wheelie off every crest. Spite, bring it to a racetrack. Just ride the damn thing and don't worry about crashing because you're going to take it easy at first.
Nice! This was always a “man, if I had the money laying around” bike when I saw it in there. I check AF1 weekly to keep me motivated to keep pushing and thinking about the next bike. Great vid man!
There is such a thing as a bike being too fast, if you know what I mean. Some riders prefer more nimble handling bikes not weighed down by an enlarged engine dynamic that allows things to more easily sit upright. Bikes that are too fast also don't always age as well as their smaller siblings.
Biggest issue with Aprilia is the lack of dealerships. The last time I looked, there were more Moto Guzzi dealers than Aprilia in Canada, and MG dealers are few and far between. Sourcing parts for a 22 year old one? Good luck.
@@spitescorner It is weird. My local Aprilia dealer was multi-brand. They dropped Aprilia, but kept MG. I wasn't curious enough to ask at the time. Edit: Thanks for the videos. Always interesting to hear your take. Hope you have a great Christmas and New Year
Back when there were superbikes for big guys- practical and fast. Think Honda 996 superhawk & original Tuono with Rotax’s superb V-twin & first KTM 950 Supermoto / 990 Superduke. Old guy now…had all 4 listed in my go fast days along w/practical superbikes from Japan ( think FZ-1/Suzuki Bandit/Kawi ZRX) before they shrunk & clip ons for street? Now guys like me ride ADV’s for comfort or Bonneville speed twins & shit like that if we fit. No wonder sales are off- think about your audience!
Got both first gen. Tuonos, 2002 v2 & 2011 v4, and haven't found any reason to buy a new bike again. Just added a radial Brembo brake pump on them and no need for more horses nor ABS...
I love the reviews but, the first thing I always notice with vloggers is they seem to love to talk with their hands and that is great but, riding with one hand is hardly recommended at all by any professional rider. And they do it the entire video so you can't ignore it. In almost 50 years of surviving I have completely lost count of objects that could be anything between falling rock, hubcaps, car bumpers, you name it that appeared out of nowhere and if I did not have both hands on the bars I would have been trouble. I just want everyone to be safe out there and use common sense. I can hear you speaking w/out your hand motions. I still appreciate your knowledge of so many bikes.
Tuono V2 was just a RSV with upright bars and a nose cone, same with the modern V4 tuono, both are RSV super naked. Ktm was one of the first to built a street only super naked not based off of a super bike with their superduke ❤
Rode a friend's early 2k mille but an '04 RS125 Tuono was a giggle to ride, every time the gf allowed my the keys, derestricted 100% go attitude mode it was a smile makers, picking it up before mid cor er cause I'd turned too hard on narrow tyres Vs my own sports bike. If you want track days you can't afford the new bike and those V2 do everything so well ( except sub 18mph all on minor clutch slip ). Fun not needing double downshifting for sudden optimistic overtakes, 1 down click & gone drive power in a settled at lean chassis

'22 Tuono V4 RR rider hear. I daily my bike at least 60km where weather allows. I've only seen Spite and Whitney ride the Factory. The RR has a more relaxed touring position. Despite having *ahem* a few years on you guys, I would actually prefer the higher pegs and lower bars. Turns out I don't like touring. Give the RR model a try next time. Same speed and agility, minus the active suspension.
I think the non-factory and factory for the Euro 5 bikes have the same rearsets, so the only difference is in the bar height when it comes to ergonomics. For what it's worth, I put Factory risers on my 2023 RR, and it is chefs kiss perfect for getting aggressive. I wanna say I was out $60 total to AF1 for the risers, but they are not always in stock
