FILMED AT NLMFC ON 4-6-2023,
my father's brother in the Royal Canadian Air Force was lost on a Lancaster, never to be found. We live near the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum near Toronto, which flies one of only two Lancs still flying - (C)VRA FM213. My father was alive to see its first flight and it was very emotional. I see the plane often and always think of my uncle and the others who failed to return from doing their duty. Bless them all for the life of freedom they gave us.
Just beautiful and majestic....a fine bomber....the brave crews that took the war to their enemy would be impressed to see this amazing bird fly...
What a beautiful model. Very realistic in the air and great attention to detail on the build. Probably the best Lancaster model I’ve ever seen.
Glad you enjoyed it
To be honest I agree but it would have been the icing on the cake with 4 bladed props.
My grandfather was a tail end Charlie in a Lancaster
He got shot down in 1941all his crew escaped thankfully, but he never made it out and my mum was a baby and never knew her father.
Thank you for keeping our glorious history alive.
sad story dave - RIP grandad
I'm named after my dad's best pal, who was a tail end Charlie in a Lancaster shot down over Belgium 1943. They never found any of the crew...😢 Remember'd at Runnymede Forcces Memorial' among the names of Twenty Thousand Airmen who have no known grave.😢
What a great flying model! G for George , operated by No. 460 Squadron RAAF during World War II. It is now preserved at the Australian War Memorial (AWM), Canberra, Australia.
thanks
Wow! It looked like a very tricky takeoff and landing in a very stiff crosswind. I take my hat off to the gentleman, that flew that beautiful Lanc. The only thing missing, was the growl of the Merlin engines. 😊
Thanks steve
It looked great and I know the pressure one is under flying something like that but more rudder usage on the ground would have made for a more realistic takeoff and roll out.
Great stuff overall!
👍👍
Excellent model, excellent flight skills. Beautiful landing. My father was a Lancaster pilot. I shed a tear every time I see one. Thankyou.
Thank you very much!
Beautiful model, managed to post a video of the real thing , yours only lacks the sound of those 4 Merlin's.........happy flying my man
My uncle was a rear gunner on the Lancaster, He used to say he loved Germany that much he flew over it twice a day. He made it back home.
What a beauty. There's just something about the Lanc that's so special.
thanks damien
My uncle was a gunner in an Avro Lancaster in WW2 for the RCAF. He had some amazing and horrible stories to tell... which he didn't do often.
brave boys all of them - RIP
Excellent😁 If only we could replicate the sound of 4 Merlins.....
Stunning model, amazing sound and nice flying
Thanks a lot!
Sad to think that one day,RC models like this will be the only Lancasters and other vintage aircraft we'll see in the skies.
Not for a long time, not while people have the passion to keep them flying.
The BBMF Lancaster was wonderful yesterday!
Beautiful model Lancaster nice video.
Many thanks!
Outstanding build and did good with all the wind blowing. A very nice machine and sounding cool too. Thanks for posting without music.
Glad you enjoyed it
Definitely makes its own sweet music, well done!
That's great, my Grandad was a Flight Engineer on one - this really made me smile and fab landing!!
In re Mr Hooper's passing, my sincere condolences. I am aware of how close knit aeromodeling communities can be. This magnificent model is part of his legacy.
And WHAT a plane. Stunning in every aspect. My congratulations to all involved.. I bet this one takes a bit of De-rigging and checking over before you can all get your post match pint, which is thoroughly deserved. Beyond impressive. 🌟👍
many thanks will
Fantastic example, amazing build 💪🏻 A good friend David Fellowes (now passed) was a Rear Gunner with 460 Sq based at RAF Binbrook. He did the full 30 missions, flew some additional missions over Northern France in preparation for the landings and flew in Operation Manna at the end of the war.
460Sq also tested the AGL turret, but he never used it in anger. In all his missions, he had just one encounter with a Night Fighter. He fired-off a few rounds and that was it - Lucky Crew 🙏🏻
He had some great stories to tell.
Jerry
its a pity more of these veterans didnt write biographies for us to remember them by - RIP dave
Beautiful model!
I just have one question:
If that is a 1/6 scale plane it should be able to accommodate 12” figures. The size of the cockpit and fuselage would suggest its a 1/12 scale.
truly magnificent. just a pity only two bladed airscrew.
I landed my small plane at Black pool airport Here in the UK last year, and ATC told me to Taxi and park my plane next to a Lancaster bomber. I thought he was joking at first. Later, I got to interview the captain of the Lancaster too. It's on my channel . Thanks for sharing. You have an amazing model.
thanks roger, ill take a look
A❤
That sent shivers through me! I’ve watched VeRA fly and visited her and all the rest many times. She would fly past my parents house as a regular circuit towards Toronto and back and I would always stop whatever I was doing and rush to watch and listen. What an amazing aircraft you’ve created. I’ve watched this video three times today! Consider me subscribed.
Oh wow - many thanks for your kind words and subscribing to our channel jim - much appreciated ! check out our playlist of over 60 lancaster videos here if you like - ruclips.net/video/9pQbUrbwZbc/видео.html

Take another peek at Paul Waites comment here.
Many thanks for those links! Am about to feast on them right now!
I fly but shit me
Gently flown, grt speed. Engine tone sounds like the Lancs throttling up over the dams, A superb model.
What a beauty. Congratulations to all involved in construction and flying. Well done all.
Awesome model that isn't seen as much as others! Poor tailgunner looks so vulnerable with just the Perspex between him and the wild blue, all the way back there, away from his mates. I shudder to imagine what it was like for those kids in WWII.
agreed john, just perspex between him and 20mm cannon shells fired at him from a night fighter, but then the rest of the plane was just thin ally sheet that didnt stop anything, deffo brave boys - RIP
Stunning model, and flown brilliantly. Had it not been for the turbulence.....you could have taken it for the real thing.
thanks steve
Super nice plane. Looks like it has quite a bit of right aileron trim in it.
A fantastic looking RCM and beautifully flown. Needs one thing - a merlin engine noise generator and a ME 109 (1/6 scale) chasing it.
What magnificent model and also apparently flying so well.
Looked a bit of a handful on the take off run... But once in the air looked fantastic... Great Piloting skills required and nerves of steel for such an investment... Well done you.
why did you use a 2 blade prop instead of a 3 which the Lancaster had?
see his responses above.
thanks
Hell of a swing on take off - well done to the pilot for catching it!
She is a beautiful model, flow gracefully, thanks
Lovely model.
Tiny observation,... rudder control seems a bit dis-proportionate.... learner driver... or function of scaling down?
Why is it pulling to the right on the ground.. minor torque effect of engines ?
I think I would have wore a nappy before flying that wonderful looking Lancaster 😮
Quick question. As it's a 1/6th scale does that also mean that the any wind component is 6 times greater i.e a 3 knot crosswind equates to 18 knots? That takeoff looked tricky.
Phenomenal craftsmanship and piloting! What kind of bomb load will she carry?
My father was a Lancaster bomber pilot in WWII. He survived to tell the tale.
A very brave man no doubt.
Looks like poetry in motion, except those wispy engine sounds, it's a pity one could not put some speakers onboard that emanate the sound of the real lancaster engines.
oh man that was awesome!! I don't think it would fit in my car. I'll have to stick with my Hobby King one for now, lol
Just a question...!! Why is there always 2 blade propeller on models and not 3 blade ?? Fantastic Lancaster here...!! 👍👍
The reason most modelers only use two bladed props on their scale models is because most models only have a single cylinder two stroke engine in it and these engines simply do not produce any where Near enough power to turn a scale 3 or 4 bladed prop fast enough to get the model off the ground.
That is why they are turning 2 blade props to suit the power output of the single cylinder engine, Don’t forget the real aircraft had V12 or 18 cylinder radial aero engines in them and the power to weight ratio is a lot different on a model aero engine - the bigger 250cc & 450cc (5 and 7 cylinders) radial engines can turn bigger 3 or 4 bladed props on them but they still might not be full scale props,
and these big 3 or 4 blade props cost into the hundreds of pounds and if the model noses over the props are destroyed, imagine doing that 2 or 3 times over a weekend ! most people simply cannot afford such luxuries and resort to cheaper smaller models with cheaper smaller engines and props, Hope this info helps !
@@tbobborap1 Thanks for info..! That was very helpful..!! 😊👍
Great planes guys, I half expected to hear “ bombs gone skipper”!
Shame they don’t make 👉🏻scale 3 blade props👈🏻
More than a model!Super job!Sincere congrats and cheers from France.
Thank you very much!
Rip Roy Chadwick . Built in Manchester oh and the other places .
An incredible engineering achievement and tribute to the flyers that flew Lancs, taking the war to the enemy nearly 80 years ago. Of the 7,377 aircraft built, 3,736 were lost , over 3,200 in action. A great tribute to the design and the women and men that built them in Britain and Canada. I was a Lord's a number of years ago and had the honour of seeing 2 Lancasters fly over as a tribute to Bomber Command and the 55,000.that lost their lives. Amazing that 2 Lancs are still airworthy, and many more in taxiing State of preservation.
I'm amazed that 'G' for George made over 90 missions. My father's cousin Roy was a bomb aimer and never made it back from his first mission. His Lancaster was shot down south-west of Stuttgart killing the entire crew. They now lie alongside each other in a war cemetery in southern Germany. Roy left a widow and two children under four years of age.
Nice, superb landing 👍
Thanks a lot ian
Just wondering how useful it would be in the Ukraine right now...?
I don't know exactly how low you managed to fly the Lanc at 5:28. I've worked out that a scaled height of 10 feet or 3m would give an approximation of the bombing run height (60 feet) flown by the Dambusters back in 1943.
Being a larger scale model it flies well.
I have been fortunate enough to see a genuine Lancaster flying over here in the UK a few times. It comes over Santa Pod drag strip on occasions and gives us all a wee display.
Have also been lucky enough to see the 'Sally B' B17 flying a few times back in the '90s.
The noise is amazing, and it was going so slowly
They need to rig it to be able to drop a model bouncing bomb down the grass runway.
I’m sure that was hard work getting that together. Are bomb bay door in the future?
That no.4 engine just doesn't want to play right...
A few facts..
Firstly 460 Sqdn( NOT 460th which is AMERICAN),
460 Sqdn was a 'Royal Australian Air Force' Sqdn .
'G George' was flown back to Australia just before the end of WW2 to avoid it being lost in battle. the intention was for 'G George' to fly a circuit round Australia as a moral bosst for Australians to view this Iconic Lancaster.
'G George' now sits in it's own section on display in the Australian War Memorial, Canberra.
'G George' is displayed accompanied by 21x1,000lb Bombs the Lancaster's maximum pay load.
The B17's average payload was some 4,000lbs ...."The Yanks were flying Fortresses at 20,000ft with TONS of AMMUNITION and a Teeny Weeny bomb" a song sung by he R.A.F.In friendly Jest.
The DH Mosquito also could carry some 4,000lbs Faster, Higher, Further and with pin point accuracy
thanks taylor
Wow, very nice. Very nice flight. Excellent job.❤🦅
Thank you very much!
That really is special. What a beautiful plane. Can I have one?
Love the Lancaster. Nicely built and flown.
The same G for George as in the Canberra War Memorial?????
Wonderful aircraft....nicely built and nice smooth landing. Now was that side slipping on takeoff from wind or torque from the engines?
the cross wind swung her round scott, jack didnt apply enough opposite rudder to counteract it
Incredible Mate !!!👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻🇬🇧
thanks EQ
Beautiful Lanc...I'd just like to see that green toned down...more toward the olive maybe...still a lovely bit of kit
well lewis when you build your 1/6 scale lanc and start flying it perhaps you can show us all the colors you mean !
@@tbobborap1 I didn't mean to offend anyone
I wonder if you could use 3 blade propellers?
Seeing as many WW2 planes are rare or non existent, I would have thought these models were the perfect answer for TV dramas or films, they look reakistic enough
Models are used for that purpose and have been for years. When I worked on RCM&E / Rotorworld magazines I met some of the guys who've done it.
A beautiful model to be sure. Was this a maiden flight? Highly adverse wind conditions? Takeoff seemed VERY short, almost over-powered? In flight the plane seemed quite 'twitchy'? I'm just a casual observer so I may well be not recognizing true pilotage under adverse conditions? If so, apologies.
How do they get the motors to run exactly at the same speed, if not the slower one would be dragging on the power of the aircraft wouldn't it. ?????
all don by ear bruce, when they are set up properly they harmonize and run very smoothly
Loverly model, however, I never understand why they go for excellent accuracy until they get to the propellers when they choose two blade props instead of three blade?

A stunning model and a fabulous flight, one im hoping ti emulate myself soon, nice videography too
Many thanks james and good luck
That is a nice machine, man, good job. Those 4 Zenoah's sounded awesome, running well. I liked the low level passes, looks very realistic. Yes, now take a big breath 😃😃.
Thanks 👍
Fabulous model. My father was a bomb aimer in Lancasters in the RAF.
If you didn't know it was a model and simply came into the video part way through and saw it flying there is no way you can tell it isn't a real Lancaster except for the engines which give it away. Missing that beautiful growl of the originals but other than that, you can't tell it apart just from looking at it.
Absolutely stunning, I would loved to own something like this, mind you, I'd probably poo my pants every time I'd land it 😂
That starboard outer is not happy....
That take-off jinking had me thinking of the mass take-offs of bombers in Catch 22 (Alan Arkin version)
Great bird and superb scale flying, love it!
Glad you enjoyed it
Marvellous, it's fantastic when a group do builds together , nothing brings people together than building large models mates for life
Now thats an R/C Lanc.....
Amazing job all around! Don't know if my nerves could take it on the sticks with this one..
Nice sound and impressively realistic.

How do You know the speed when landing, not stalling, not over shooting?

BEAUTIFUL ALL ROUND ,the real ones including the Canadian one and Spits and Hurricanes flew very low directly over my house and back after visiting the Eastbourne air show a few years back, the whole place shook I think it loosened some old tiles! but it was worth it...wonderful sound 2 Lancs together will never happen again.

@@tbobborap1 . Thank you for reply. Much appreciated. Makes a lot of sense now 👍😊
Do you need to have a licence or some kind of certificate to fly a large model such as this. It could be very dangerous in unskilled hands.
ohhhh yesssss, by law any model weighing over 24kg must go through a series of tests when being built and the pilot must then fly 10 x 10 min (over 1-1/2 hrs) flights with the model in front of a CAA examiner before it can be flown in public etc,
