Great review,🎉 if obsession was released today it would be all the rage, or if a celebrity endorsed it. Because it’s from the past it’s ultimately discarded. Sadly many people today don’t look for depth and complexity in anything, it a classic fragrance and a real powerhouse. A Scent that stands alone. Today they prefer to run round smelling like a cherry booze or a slice of cake. Eternity and Obsession have soul and are still some of the most unique and beautiful scents. They are truly unforgettable like a fine wine. You know those scents when they walk by, they make an impression. Obsession is a entire generation in a bottle. Sorry to anyone who missed out on the 80s.
I wore this yesterday. Mine is the COTY made in France formulation and the lady at the sandwich shop, when I was paying for my lunch, noticed I had Obsession on. She said she remembered wearing it years ago and loved it. We both agreed 80s perfumes were the best. Such a lovely moment ❤
The genius was making an amber that is warm but not old and fusty, an Oriental that is spicy and exotic but not grandiose, a touchable musk that's not rank or sweaty, I even feel the delicate lift of flowers, without any notion of it being "floral". The spices and vanilla sort of thing is more in the mind than in the mouth, there's nothing of the dessert cart about it! The chypre is there without being severe or scolding, even some sort of fruit comes to mind, but it's more like the bitter musky edge of the peach and apricot, not.... sugary or wet like apples and pears. It's very new feeling for a spicy ambery oriental thing. I can see teenagers wearing this, older ladies and gentlemen, and everyone in between. It's not stuck in time like some can be. It's weird, because it seems easy. They make it look easy! But of course, it's a fine balancing act, like all great perfumes. The real trick, I think, is hiding all that effort.
No other fragrance triggers memories of my childhood than both Obsessions. I had a bottle in the 80's and remember family members, teachers, friends wearing Obsession both for him and her. The warmest, coziest, smoothest fragrance ever made.
I remember when Obsession fragrances came out. All the fashion magazines raved about it. The only thing was that they launched it in Harrods London and for a while you could only buy it their. The huge global promotion for this fragrance was the talking about the mens Obsession before it came out. As it was reputed at the time that it was better smelling than the woman's. Everyone had to wait again and then it was launched in Harrods again and everyone had to wait until it was launched around the country. Again. Women at the time went crazy for the gents. They would buy it for their boyfriends ect and then use it for themselves 😀😀😀
I have the “relatively current” EDP of Obsession, one made in the USA and one made in Spain. I smell subtle differences between them, and ohhh, they are so so gorgeous. There is nothing on the market quite like Obsession. I agree with you Dacob, this fragrance is still relevant today and I’m so glad you are serving as a champion for Obsession. I also have a vial of the parfum. I don’t know when/where it was produced, however it obviously is not current. Based on the smell of the older parfum, I agree with you that Coty has done a wonderful job with the current EDP!
Wow, Dacob! That was a helluva review...well done...well done! I have loved this fragrance since the late 80's. I have a current bottle and a boxed backup, both made in Spain and still fabulous.
Thank you for this review. I grew up with my father wearing the Obsession for Men, and now at age 35, a similar age to when I first really recognized the aroma he used, I find myself diving so deeply into the universe of real, pure, unadulterated parfum. Memory, imagination, inspiration, exploration, and serendipitously-obsession. I’m hunting for the pure parfum as I watch this, wanting to know the pure essence, and how a much older, nay, original formulation compares across the decades to what he wears now. I may have to hunt out a bottle from the 80s for his birthday this year. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for this.
I am 37, I have been searching and searching for a gourmand that really lasts like the perfumes I smelled on women when I was a girl in the 80’s and 90’s my whole adult life. I have around 200 perfumes, majority more modern gourmand leaning perfumes and they almost never last and project the way I’d like. I’ve started branching out more, I am more mature so my nose is more accepting of the old powerhouse perfumes. Layering a vintage perfume with a Middle Eastern Vanilla seems to give me what I’m wanting right now, powerhouse fragrance with a strong vanilla note. I need obsession.
Hi Dacob, I love your fragrance reviews. It is so thorough. Just recently, I saw your review on L'Heure Bleue and I had to check it out. I noticed that it felt very much like less sweet Obsession. I know you found it sad and referred to it as a "vampire" perfume, lol. But, I am glad I took a chance on Guerlain through your channel. Thank you!
Great review. I remember when Obsession came out, I was in high school. I always keep a small bottle of Obsession in my collection. Now I want a vintage one. I loved the original C.K Eternity. Can you please a review of Givenchy Y'Satis? This is another 80s perfume I really like.
Thank you for the awesome review. I bought a bottle of Obsession made in France distributed by COTY US, just bought another bottle also made in France but distributed by COTY UK. Both smell good but the US version is much more powerful and less soft! The UK version seems to be missing that heavy strong note. Anyone have the same experience?

Love special moments like this one you just shared with us Dani. Perfumes bond us 🥰🥰🥰
MY DEAREST LOVE… Looked at my bottle which I bought about a year ago. It’s made in Spain, but it is still the beauty that I always loved.

Beautifully said.

Its a very special one in my heart as well.
I have a full 3.4 oz bottle, by Coty, made in France. It’s gorgeous.

I bought Obsession about a year ago. You influenced me! Love it. Its great! Absolutly unisex!
Glad you enjoy it Stephan!
The way you journey us through the experience of scent and memory is a treasure. 🙏🏼
Thank you jori 🥹🙏🏻💖

You have a piece of jewel in your hands. I was lucky to have had that bottle once in my life. I wish I had kept it, though.
Thank you
When it debuted in the 80’s………..everywhere and delicious 🖤❤️
It was and still is heavenly!
I was today days old when I sniffed CK Obsession, and realized that Dolce and Gabbana smells like it but lighter.
I still have one of the older versions of Obsession. Gold, Must de Cartier smells like I remember Obsession smelling when it first came out.

I love the classic Guerlain fragrances. They are challenging in a good way 💖

Thanks Angela. Ysatis is a love of mine as well. Will review it one day.
Wonderful review thanks Dacob 🥰 I had this one back in the day I must revisit it - I will spray it from a distance I promise ! 💕💖💖
Thank you Ayshea!
Wait a minute, this is rerun!
Correct. Read the info in the description box. All is very transparently explained there. xoxo
I was looking at that fragrance at Marshall’s yesterday. Now we’re talking about it darling 😂😂 but I ended up buying a CK hoodie
haha !Next step is a CK perfume ;)
@@essence-tiallydacob9611 😘😘😘💋💋
Your hair and shirt stunning for this video love it 😍
Thank you Jay Ali!
Oh Dacob, look at the color of that perfume in your hands. It’s a painting.
The colors of perfumes are important to me too. I always look at them and enjoy them 🥰💖
I have two bottles of the "made in spain" version and I'm happy to say it's still great..
Omg Dacob’s words on memory. So true. So poignant.
Thank you Catherine!
I’d love a follow up review of Eternity and Escape. These were often sold as a trio in the 90s
Just saw you already did Eternity 😮
Yep, I did 🥰
Obsession was never given the recognition that it deserved ever as it was always thought of as a take on Opium at the time with artistic merit ect.
Well... I give it the recognition it deserves! ;)
I’m looking forward to my 50ml to arrive of the original vintage
Congratulations 🎊
Love Obsession ❤
Me too 💖

Probably the oakmoss missing in the UK version?
There is also a version produced by Lancaster!
It's an abalone!
Mine the coty
I got a few Coty versions too
@@essence-tiallydacob9611 do love it
