- The 2nd movement of Dvořák's 9th Symphony ("From The New World") is amongst the most recognisable movements of any symphony. Neil Armstrong took a tape of the symphony with him when he went to the moon. I took a study score with me on the train to Shrewsbury. Only one of us made a piano arrangement (as far as I'm aware).
I've recently been outsourcing the mixing and mastering of my recordings to Nadezhda Podedinova and couldn't recommend her highly enough. For any other musicians out there looking for an excellent audio engineer, her details are -

I think I played an extremely simplified section of this once when I first began learning piano. Even then, I found the melody beautiful. This is my first time hearing it beyond those simple notes, and I couldn't help but be enraptured.

A most enjoyable occasion. First time I have ever been able to catch a live premiere on YT so yes, for me it is an occasion. An excellent performance as usual Luke. I like your very solid arrangement of this well-known work. It comes across as suitably sedate and arrestingly meditative. I was fascinated by the way you approached your interpretation like you were probing Dvorak's composition as for the very first time. This lent a refreshing immediacy to your performance -and a pianistic sensibility that spoke direct to my heart - and truly held my focused attention to the very end. Congratulations Luke - you do your admirers/followers proud, each and every time.

I completely agree, Manon! Re. your question, I know he was director of the National Conservatory of Music of America for a few years. I imagine it was a commission whilst he was living there (but probably better to trust Google than me!)
