I have been using that PPU RN SP on deer for over 10 years. Never lossed a deer and blood trails are ez to follow. This year I lossed a deer front ham due to exit wounded. The entire opposite front bone was destroyed. Great ammo and pretty rare these days
That telaammo is made in Azerbaijan which has hosted an F1 race for many years in a row now,,, and it’s very expensive hosting an F1 race especially for a smaller country like Azerbaijan… So I wouldn’t worry too much about the Telaammo… and I think people have checked to see if it’s corrosive on nails and it passed the test
I think the tela ammo is probably the one to buy atm. I did notate the country of origin when I misspoke and showed out of all ammo tested to compare to AAC it performed the best by a long shot. I’m on my second case since this video and no signs of corrosion with no cleaning. But I do know they’re 5.45 is corrosive. From what I can tell Tela is just commercial sale of Azerbaijan’s military ammunition. Their standard rifle is still an AKM and they also use 5.45 in limited quantities. (A 5.45 Tavor is even in use) Which might explain why the 5.45 is still corrosive if their military hasn’t approved a newer non corrosive loading. Appreciate the insight! and I might be wrong on some of the info I just provided. That’s what I gathered from a small amount of research on the country.
@@conceptualconcepts6.9 I have no idea I know it says it’s non corrosive doesn’t mean it is.,, I’m just going off those Nail board test videos people do with different x39.. basically they take a like idk 8 nails pound them half way down in the board and then stick an empty shell on the nail to see if it rusts… and some definitely do and others not so much..
If have some AAC ammo handy, check the overall length of each round. Mine seem to be all over the place, and that could be the reason for the large deviation.
Most 7.62x39 is tested out of a 23.5 inch barrel such as an RPK. Norma's 7.62x39 ammo box is claiming around 1660 ft lbs out of a 23.5 inch barrel. Ammo companies will always test out of the longest barrel possible whenever possible. I don't understand why you would even say it is so bad to lose 200 fps when you lost 10 inches of test barrel length.
Because this is 7.62x39 and Almost all of the powder is burnt by 16”. between the 3 ammos tested it was by far the poorest performer in velocity, accuracy and consistency. Even compared to Tula which is notoriously under pressured. So really I don’t see how you could say anything but bad things about it. Also want to note that their Sabre line is advertised at the same 2375fps velocity actually is much closer to the advertised velocity out of a 16” barrel. So why would they have 2 different standards from the same company? All this being said I was rooting for it and want it to be good. I really hope they clean it up and plan to revisit this soon.
To be fair almost all ammo manufacturers overstate the velocity. Most give velocity out of a 22-24” barrel which is unrealistic for most shooters. If you need something to shoot for range fun this seems ok. Save the better stuff for when you need it. Maybe AAC will get things tuned up. I think they are trying to make too many types of ammo and not focusing on dialing in
All good points and that’s definitely true, a lot of ammo manufacturers do use long barrels for velocity. However their Sabre line does seem to test at the velocity advertised out of a 16” barrel. And even Tula is outperforming it which is notoriously underpressured. All that being said my main issue with this ammo is consistency. It’s the least consistent ammo I’ve shot and one of the least accurate. Hitting a 10” gong at 200yds was inconsistent even because the spread was already wider than the target. All this won’t hurt for plinking at the range. But I can’t justify recommending purchasing this when there’s better ammo available at the same price right now. All being said, I really hope that it cleans up because if suddenly all the imported stuff dries up it’ll be all we have. And I’m really thankful to palmetto for taking the lead on this. I would buy Palmetto ammo just because it's American and we need to promote American made shit. Hopefully, they tighten up their product though. If anything I would rather it be a little too hot than not.
That’s 100% fair and that is an admirable way of thinking. Especially if you only use it for the range. Why I don’t recommend it is because a lot of people only buy multiple (1k plus) rounds of the cheap stuff to defend their homes, family and community with.
