      I’m planning to do testing/filming tomorrow on this. Brass facts and a few other reviewers have mentioned a wandering zero but have never shown to what degree. And I’ve noticed a slight shift when I disassemble. The question is how bad is it? There’s an acceptable level with PDW’s but does it exceed that? Hopefully have a video out on this with some actual testing and results this weekend.

    I've wanted my own AK but also live in an apartment complex so I went the PCC route and bought an AKV from gunbroker. The gun is definitely a blast and only had 1 hiccup due to the ammo. Unfortunately mine in particular almost requires an optic since the sights aren't zeroed and the AKV sights in particular are moreso Vityaz sights that aren't made easy to adjust. Hearing about PSA's customer service being more of an advantage than their quality, I'm more than likely going to save for a Zastava if I feel the urge for another AK that will last my lifetime.

    • @conceptualconcepts6.9
      @conceptualconcepts6.9 4 дня назад

      AK irons are less plug and play than the AR equivalent. Looks like the AKV uses the standard drum system most AK’s use. There’s a tool that makes it easier to shift the drum for windage and elevation you just screw the front sight up and down. www.amazon.com/Ficero-Adjustment-7-62x39mm-Windage-Elevation/dp/B0BBV6JD59 I’ve heard really good things about the AKV’s so they’re definitely nothing to sneeze at. Good find! And since they’re blowback guns they don’t have the same issues as the bigger piston operated brothers. The zastava’s are wicked AK’s and arguably one of the best fit and finish wise. The big downside is parts compatibility. They don’t fit AKM furniture. But there’s enough aftermarket support now that that’s kinda a moot point.

    I'd stay away from all PSA AKs until at a minimum they confirm they're riveting them properly and even then I'd stay away from their 5.56 and 5.45 guns since they can't seem to get that right. Stick to WBP, Zastava, or WASR.

    • @conceptualconcepts6.9
      @conceptualconcepts6.9 6 дней назад

      @@neverquit2640 norinco and polytech don’t use countersunk rivets and there are rifles here in the US on their 3rd and 4th barrel. One of my aquaintances has a mak-90 on its 2nd barrel. The riveting issue isn’t something I’m really concerned about personally. Especially since I haven’t really seen any real evidence of the breakages that people claim it’ll cause. If you have a link I would love to see it and would definitely reconsider my position. But until then my experience with flat riveted trunnions says it’s not a big deal.

    • @neverquit2640
      @neverquit2640 6 дней назад

      @conceptualconcepts6.9 No one ever said the Chinese made quality shit either. I'm old enough to remember them being considered junk AKs for $150 back in the day before they dried up. The AKM as intended to be properly built per Soviet specs requires the trunnion and receiver to be dimpled together. Now to your point will the average shooter shooting semi a few weekends a year likely break their shit? Probably not. But that's not the point to me, the point is it being built the way it's supposed to be built. And in PSA's case would take minimal effort to do especially since they're essentially half way there.

    • @conceptualconcepts6.9
      @conceptualconcepts6.9 6 дней назад

      @ people said the WASR was shit back 15 years ago lol. Now they’re considered best bang for the buck. General populace who say just because something is cheap means it’s garbage. Not gonna buy the “they’re crap because people said so when they were cheap and plentiful.” Sorry. I personally know of one in the around 30k round count and I’d refer to aregularguytraining if you don’t wanna take my word for it ruclips.net/video/Pl8Z5jqRYxc/видео.htmlsi=oAdezjpLFVf-fMP6 Now again, I repeat. If you have evidence provide a link and I’ll happy to look at it. But what I’ve heard overall from people is “because my favorite RUclipsr said so.” All this being said, I still don’t recommend palmetto AK’s as a whole. As I said in this video I recommend getting an import. But the rivets are lowest on my priorities. It’s due to poor QC and material management. Also their small bore AK’s are trash.

    • @neverquit2640
      @neverquit2640 6 дней назад

      @conceptualconcepts6.9 it was shit though lol. Canted sights, mag well issues, etc. They got better with their QC, luckily, and as basically the only readily available military grade import with standard AKM compatibility, yeah, now it's considered the better option. I come from the days of cheap good AKs, bro. I take you for your word just fine dawg. I'm just saying from my part at a bare minimum I'd stay away from them until they own that issue. Then there's the other issues lol. If I was buying today I'd stick to what I said. I also don't own any Chinese guns like I said I'm from the day of cheap Bulgarians, Maadis, even relatively cheap Russians. Do I regret not buying some Chinese shit for resale down the road though considering how inflated the prices are..... maybe lol.

      @conceptualconcepts6.9 6 дней назад

      @ again, as mentioned 2-3 times now. I don’t recommend palmetto either unless they clean up their act. But I do once again state that I think the rivet thing is overblown . And have provided the reasoning and examples to support this. I have asked multiple people to provide links with evidence of the rivets failing as they claim they will. Not once has someone provided any.

      PSA seems to be shooting for volume sales to make money. If that's true, it is unfortunate. Firearms prices rise while quality suffers, just like the automobiles, and about everything else, being manufactured these days. I understand the need for budget lines, but America has little need for another fast food style firearms manufacturer. In the late 80's through the mid-90's we bought Euro and Chinese AK's for $130 to $170 and SKS's $60 to $80 and resold them at $30 to $75 profit, depending on make, model, and condition. We also charged $20 if they wanted the Cosmoline removed. Now the damned things cost near or over $1k, and parts quality, especially with core parts, seems to have fallen by the wayside.

The tail was peened so bad after 3k rounds I've had to file the mushrooming out. The barrel was trashed after 4k rounds, the rails from what I've noticed were welded in crooked which is probably why the carrier was in such bad condition. I bought some AAC 55gr 556 and I was hitting 2 of 5 shots on a 4” steel plate at 50 yards. I first thought it was me, but after 60 rounds and no improvement I switched to monarch 55gr 223. Immediately I was able to hit 5 of 5 on the plate. I hear the sabre ammo is okay but Im gonna avoid AAC now

They’ll just use the same poorly heat treated parts 🤷‍♂️ I kid you not 250 rounds and the lug on the bolt that rolls over the right side of the trunnion lug was rounded over already on the bolt…hopefully that makes sense. I would assume the reason AAC 7.62 is so inconsistent and therefore so inaccurate while also being cheap is that its a reduced powder load. As I understand it, reducing a powder load leads to inconsistent ignition of the powder, driving up you SD and leading to the accuracy issues experienced. Would also lend credence to why their 'high end' loadings dont have this issue, because they aren't trying to save a few cents per cartridge by reducing the powder load.

      AAC steel cased 7.62X39 suffers from cases being longer than both CIP & SAAMI standards. This also results in much of the ammo exceeding the maximum overall cartridge length. This ammo should have never left the factory. It shows a complete lack of quality control over the most basic of cartridge dimensions.
