Hi Maple. This video really came through for me. I was invited to an interview last week Thursday, today I got an offer 💃🏽. You’re doing an amazing job 👏🏽
@@MapulaSethosasWorrld it went well. I start on Monday. Your points were very helpful. Now on to your video of what to expect as a candidate attorney 😊😊
Hey Prince I’m so happy that you came across my channel while your still in your 1st year. I hope these videos will help you prepare for the real world and you can start networking
Thank you so much beautiful, I have attended 4 interviews and none of them were successful. However, after watching this video I have managed to note down the mistakes I've previously made and hopefully I'll ace the next one I have on Monday. God bless you
great video once again. Definitely learned a few helpful things. This is a topic nobody ever talks about and it is so important to know what's coming. Especially for people like myself who are FREAKED OUT by interviews. SO HELPFUL! Thanks once again for taking the time to do this, I appreciate it SOO MUCH.
I’m a new Subbie 😃🙂 and let me tell you I am so obsessed with all your law related content. Thank you so much for such amazing insight, as a prospective LLB student I’ve taken so many notes from almost every video you’ve uploaded. Honestly, Thank you ♥️🙂
I’m so happy that you seeing this before getting into varsity. This law related content will definitely give you a jumpstart on what to expect in the real world and not only to focus on the theory part of it all. Good luck dear
May l ask the following question: When is the right time for law student to start making applications for Practical Vocational Training or articles to their preferred law firms?
Many top firms open their applications to third year students. Medium and small firms open to students at final year. checkout their websites for information
Hey❤️ thank you so much for this . I am currently on my 3rd Year. The past 2 and half years I've been on avarage 60s-70s but I am planning on putting in effort and get 80s on the remaining 19 modules, what are my chances of getting admitted in one of the big 5 law firms?
This is just great, you're just great, thank you for this! I also need to mention that above all else and outside the legal scope, you're really cool! 😅❤🖤
When I email my cv, do I always need to attach a motivational letter? Is a profile on my cv necessary? Applying to small firms by the way so there's no requirements list.
I would suggest that you have yourself a standard cover letter/motivational letter which you’ll obviously tweak here n there for different firms. I always sent out a cover letter. They get to know you a bit away from your CV and you get to talk about your strengths, dedication and short term goals in there. One other tip, always remember what you wrote in your cover letter for that specific firm when you go to the interview they might catch you out if you spiced it up and it’s not a true reflection of who you are.
Doing my final year at ukzn n I haven't started applying like ever😬... How screwed am I on a scale of 1 to 10?....awesome tips by the way... Main reason I haven't applied is coz I'm super scared of rejection n wanted to be extra prepared when I applied, hope I didn't wait too long.
Rejection is inevitable. You won’t be everyone’s cup of tea and if it does happen don’t be scared to do a follow up and ask them why they didn’t choose you for that job. This may help you at your next interview. If you want to do your articles next year I’d say start applying. Use a legal recruitment agency to narrow it down that also helps. Check out FRRW Consulting they are really good.
@@MapulaSethosasWorrld ah you are God-sent hey. I've learned so much already from your videos. Thank you so much taking the time to give even more useful advice in the comments.
Currently in my final year. I haven't really participated in extramural activities or done vac work. So I don't really expect to find a job immediately once I graduate. Do you have any tips when it comes to what you can do in your free time while job hunting to make your CV look more appealing to law firms? I've started looking into volunteering at different organizations in the hopes that it would spice things up a bit. Also hope that it could highlight the fact that I'm a good team player. Thank you for another amazing video!❤️❤️❤️
Hi Robyn, let’s firstly throw out that mentality in your 1st paragraph. If you apply like your life depends on it and believe it. It will happen. You are on the right track on the volunteering gig. This shows a good balance in your life. What you can also do is try and get a part time job as a transcription writer. With a a lot of people working from home they have their meetings on zoom or Microsoft Teams. Some companies want those meetings to be written down as minutes. All you need is a laptop and WiFi at home and you are good to go. This will help improve your writing skills immensely and you also get paid for it. Just do your research on that it’s something you’d see yourself doing. You can also teach English online. Again all you need is your laptop, WiFi and know the English language. Another thing at the top of my head, you can go around your neighborhood to small businesses and give them flyers on a service you can provide like drafting their employment contracts. Look at FRRW recruitment it’s a legal based recruitment company and they have a pretty good records also check out RAD Resources
Love your content queen. Just a quick question. I plan on starting my llb in 2022 and by the time i do articles i would be 27. Is it frowned upon at law firms for someones to be doing their articles at that age and not younger?
I personally don't think so. As a matter of fact, it seems as though older candidates are preferred. Make sure you get good results, be involved in extracurricular activities, participate in things like Moot Court and attend vac work you should be good.
I totally agree with Refiloe and Kgomotso. It really doesn’t matter if your older than the average candidate. In my view (if I had my own firm) knowing that you are older will make me feel like you will work hard and won’t give up when things get hard
Hey Dee, I have to say right now there really isn’t a balance. I live alone and live really close to work so sometime I work until late and over weekends when the work load is a bit much. We are lucky to have such a great director that he’ll force you to sometimes take a break. But I think when I do start my own family this will obviously need to change
