Thank you for this video. I am currently studying Bcom Law and will proceed to acquire my LLB. I was unsure whether to become an attorney or an advocate but this video provided some much needed clarity.
I really enjoyed this. I dropped out of law 10 years ago and I’m going to pick up my studies again next year. Can you please do a video on the best way to chart a career path if you want to be a magistrate and ultimately a judge. I’m not finding a lot of content on that...it’s mostly about being an attorney or advocate. Thanks
Thank you for this! I’ve been looking for a video on the South African experience for ages. Hopefully my application is successful and I can finally do what I love.
Thank you so much Alegang and Adv. Chanza for this informative talk. You've inspired me more as I get closer to finishing my degree. I will be starting out as an attorney.
Hi Atlegang...do you know one can do pupillage in one jurisdiction and then join a the bar in another jurisdiction. For example; doing pupillage in KZN and then joining the JSA?
Hi Atlegang. Thank you so much for this video. If I may ask, I believe I heard Adv. say you don't get paid while serving your pupillage?? So for that year you don't even get a stipentd??
So then, does the attorney gather all the tea and the facts and bring that to the advocate, who then uses the tea and the facts to argue the case in the high court?
Can you please do a video about vocation work. 🙏 *How to apply *Tasks one can expect *working hours *etc 😂🤷♀️ and or one about Cyber law in South Africa.
Wow ladies, I am so impressed and reminded again that for every career one decide to follow require hardworking person and to be willing to do more. #Sharpen your Skill first and money will follow.
Wow this was amazing and really leaves one with so much to think about 🙌🙌 Atli, could I kindly request that in your next video (hopeful that it is soon) you talk about and take us through the benefits of one being a lawyer/attorney/advocate in terms of job security. E.g. Pension funds, if there's housing subsidies etc and where one can be guaranteed such - be it a person with their own law firm or one working for a law firm/employed by a law firm. I would really appreciate it. Thank you🙏🙏 #Pupilage #CareerLegalTalk
Hiii if I may ask since I'm in 1st year and apparently I can secure articles in 2nd year , can I do articles after varsity and then practice as an attorney ,after that then do pupillage? coz what I'm getting from this is that this gives you an advantage unlike me immediately after getting the LLB degree doing pupillage coz initially I want to be an advocate
Hello 👋🏽 exactly. You are spot on. You can do articles, become an attorney and then do pupilage as you would have managed to gain at least a network of people who may come in handy for getting briefs
Thank you for this great content...i am full time employed within the public sector and not planning to resign but want must do articles. Does the Office of the State Attorney offer articles?
@@atleganggovuza6733 i have feedback wrt to the question i asked yesterday after doing some little research. Yes they do offer articles to qualified persons of other Departments on a secondment basis. This can happen only if i have obtained approval from my Department whereafter i can approach the Office of the State Attorney to see if they can accomodate me for the duration of 2 years. This means i will be employed full time with the DoJ for 2 years. I am yet to get more info as i was given the contact details of the person.
This is so informative❤but for a guy whose into being an advocate which route is best..starting with going to the pupilage or being an attorney first then become an advocate later?
I would love to gain more clarity on the Independent Association of Advocates, under which Advocates can get brief directly from clients. What are the advantages and disadvantages?
Hello Malebo, thank you for your question! As I am not in any way affiliated to the Independent Association of Advocates I cannot share any experiences in that regard. As mentioned in the clip I am registered with the JSA which prohibits advocates from briefing members of the public without the intervention of an attorney. This is largely due to being able to regulate its members for any misconduct and for members of the public to hold attorneys accountable as they are required to keep fidelity fund certificates.
Thank you for this video! I'm in my final year and am so conflicted about doing articles or pupilage....this provided some much needed clarity. Thank you!
Information about becoming an attorney is in abundance, this is exactly what I needed as I prepare myself for pupillage for the 2023 intake 💥💥👍
All my questions answered, thank you guys alot😊❤️☺️

Wow guys beauty with the brains very informative guys thank you
Finally someone speaks. Being in your final year and not knowing whether to go to the Bar or be a CA.
Personally, I would advise you to do articles first. Good for networking and easier to be briefed when you know attorneys. Then go to the Bar
Thank you so much Alegang and Adv. Chanza for this informative talk. You've inspired me more as I get closer to finishing my degree. I will be starting out as an attorney.
This is most definitely thought-provoking indeed... Love it.

Thank you for this! Do you perhaps have any advice or tips for those writing the entrance exams for pupillage (NBEB)?
Hi Atlegang. Thank you so much for this video. If I may ask, I believe I heard Adv. say you don't get paid while serving your pupillage?? So for that year you don't even get a stipentd??
Hey. You can get a stipend but I’m not sure of the financial requirements to get it. But it’s possible 🙏🏾🌸
Can’t wait
So then, does the attorney gather all the tea and the facts and bring that to the advocate, who then uses the tea and the facts to argue the case in the high court?
