I've had several soundbars and a surround sound package but it was only when I purchased an budget AVR and a pair of budget stereo speakers that I realised what I had been missing (stereo imaging, thumping base) besides going down this route one can always add to it overtime! subwoofer, surround speakers you could even get height speakers to get the full 'non-virtual' Dolby Atmos experience. Nowadays AVRs are so simple to setup, they even walk you through the process! "Remember movies are made up of 50% visuals and 50% audio and there are occasions when the audio out does the visuals"
Less than 2 minutes into the video and I have the answer I’m looking for…brilliant! Just sad I can’t connect with my roams in the house (yes it would be overkill). Great video!
Really enjoyed this video, thank you ! I am definitely in the market to add a 2nd sub to my SONOS System - and I will be in touch very soon . After adding my 1st sub to my SONOS Arc it absolutely took my listening and viewing to another level then I added the SONOS 1' SL for the rears on the SONOS stands and now its totally unbelievable ! I would advise anyone if they have a SONOS system to take the plunge and add a sub - in my lounge the total immersion when watching a film on my 77inch tv is worth every penny of the cost of the system , Thats partly the reason I'm adding a second sub to my already awesome system. Also love the look of your new demo room[s] i'm very much looking forward to visiting you soon . Again thank you for this video its just what I've been waiting for as was your last video about adding the rears . Regards Stu.
A large room isn’t needed to justify adding a 2nd subwoofer - a key benefit is to provide a more balanced bass response at more listening positions (seats) compared to a single sub, which is more likely to result in different bass peaks and nulls at various listening positions.
Yes, I have just got the sub mini for a beam gen 2, and it’s driving me nuts that I can’t get the same bass sound at each seating position. Seriously, in one area the sound is really awesome and cinematic, yet in one of the seating positions you can hardly tell that there is a sub attached! Really bizarre!
Hello There, great video! I want to purchase one Sub Mini, but I don't have enough room for it, so I'm thinking placing it ON my Tv furniture, is big and of solid wood. Is this a good idea or not? Thanks!
I have a stereo amplifier with 2 B&W speakers in the saloon, I was hoping to connect this sub to it. But it probably has no sub line to connect to the amplifier. I can easily connect my amplifier to my desktop, would the sonos sub gen 3 be able to connect and play that way?
when should I use the 180 degrees function? I have 2 x Play 5 with the sub. All placed right in front of me. The sub is placed close to a wall with the logo pointing my way.
I have a new LGOLED65C1 and an uninstalled Sonos arc. I will be adding either a Sub Gen. 3 or perhaps waiting til May 2022 to see if Sonos announces a new baby cylindrical Sub woofer at that time. Mine is a question that I have not heard asked or spoken about anywhere as yet. Any info would be helpful from Smart Home Sounds or a commenter. I live in a very rural part of Montana, USA 🇺🇸. Our internet and Wi-Fi performance is very low, we even pay extra monthly to have a Download Speed of 12.00-15.00 Mbps and Upload Speed of 1.5-2.0 Mbps ! Fibre optic is 3+ years away in our area. How much bandwidth will the above described entertainment system require, being Wi-Fi based for use ? Also, my girlfriend works from home. She is a medical professional requiring internet bandwidth for work. Will we have problems with all equipment in use ?
When do you think we can expect a review of the 1100? I've just seen it in stock in a few different stores! Looking forward to see what you think of it! 😃
Sub connected to beam doesn't really change anything to the beam sound profile , it still push the same amount off bass. I didn't found any difference toggling it on or off. Maybe worth going in depth and explain why it don't work properly, as I am not the only one experienced the same results. It seems that it only work for Arc?
All jokes aside maybe get your ears checked. The minute you toggle the sub on, the sound bar is 2x louder since it doesn’t have to account for lower frequency. Try tuning it.
Same issue. I reset my router and unplugged all Sonos devices and re added everything one by one. Now I can hear the difference but it still isn’t huge, until I move to the kitchen where the bass is overwhelming. So I’m going to do a sub crawl soon to find a good spot.
I feel like I have to turn my volume up really loud for the base to start hitting. I’m not sure if that’s how it’s designed or if I’m doing something wrong
Hi Lewis. You would need two Sonos Fives as a stereo pair. This would then work with a Sonos Sound bar and a Sub. I don’t think you can connect a single Sonos Five to a Sub unfortunately.
Hi enjoy all your videos especially because I am a Sonos nut but I have a question I hope you can help me with. I have a Bose CD player with a optical out connection and was wondering if I could run this optical cable to my Sonos arc and play music through it even if I have my arc also plugged into my tv with a hdmi cable. Any help would be appreciated it thanks. And keep making those videos especially the ones about sonos.
Hmm it wouldn't be that straightforward. You’d need to get a device that converts an analog signal from the CD player into HDMI-ARC or eARC signal, and then a switch between that device and your TV’s ARC connection. You’d probably have a better chance of connecting your CD player to an input on the TV, and use the TV set as your switch device. Of course, that means the TV would need to be turned on when listening to CDs. Alternatively, the more common solution would be to add a Sonos device to your system that has an analog input, either a Five, or a Port, that you could then connect your CD player to.
Hi. Cool video. Different topic here. Any product news on the very recent Mahyt Acquisition by Sonos? If you haven’t heard, I read online that Sonos bought this Dutch company that makes a breakthrough in transducer technology? I’m just hoping sonos releases a new product with using the new technology from Mayht soon.

I love what you do since I’m a big fan of Sonos, I have a Beam gen 2 + two ones + a sub gen 3, but sometimes I don’t really feel the sub is doing a great job, I don’t feel it, I ran Trueplay and the sound is quite clear but I don’t feel that thunderous sound is suppose to make, am I missing something? Thank you so much in advance!!!
Have you increased the volume control of the sub independently to the whole system through the system section? True play will have done it's job but additional optimisation is available for personal preferences of things like stronger bass or surrounds etc.
Some great suggestions by JB below but I would also try moving it to a different spot in your room as well and then re-doing the TruePlay tuning process.
@@jb7753 I tried but then it felt like extremely overwhelming, as if the crossover was at the wrong level you know what I mean? sometimes I feel it would be better if I had the ARC hahah as if the sub was not right for the beam G2

TV stands for Sonos Arc / other sound-bar placement when using TVs such as Sony A90J / A95k when mounting tv to a wall is not an option would be welcome… Essentially a solid riser plinth at the rear half of the tv stand to raise the tv above the sound bar sounds like the obvious solution but they seem to be non existent…
i just bought the sonos sound bar and the gen 3 sub and 2 SL 1's . and man the base that comes from the sound bar alone is way better than my last sound bar and sub together what a happy difference it is. Can't wait to get the sub and 2 rear speakers hooked up. Otherwise non directional bass does sound very directional
