The FAA comes-clean on how RID will work (it's bad news)

  • Based on the contents of a video recently uploaded by the FAA, the future of the RC plane and drone flying hobby looks bleak. It seems that unless the exemption for sub250g craft is removed, remote ID will utterly fail as a method of increasing safety and security. We must also ask questions as to why broadcast RID is also going to become a surveilance network, spying on innocent recreational hobby flights.

I will not be complying with remote id, the time to take a stand is now.

I will not be complying with RemoteID. As for ACCOUNTABILITY... How about the Government subject istelf to accountability first. RID is a flawed idea and will fail to realize any of their purported "benefits". I choose dangerous liberty over safety in servitude. They serve us, not the other way around.

Those who sacrifice freedom for safety, deserve neither and will inevitably loose both

Non compliance. Not playing the game is the only winning move.

They're just trying to make it so onerous to fly that drones don't become common. They are threatened by civilian drones in the same way that they are threatened by civilian arms. That's why they are overreacting so hysterically.

When the registration nonsense came about, I refused to comply. Unfortunately there were too many bootlickers who signed right up and then criticized people like me who were warning them that registration was only the beginning. Well look where we are now. You can't "comply" your way out of tyranny.

The constant wokeness in the FAA video made me sick to my stomach.

I can not send up my little drone without a spotter, but the FAA can fill the skies with drones and fly over anyone, anywhere they want. Talk about the "do what I say, not what I do" thing...... The new FAA slogan should be " The FAA, we spend millions to save hundreds".

It's not about safety, it's about total control. «1984» is coming.

Privacy is dying in this decade, and we as a society are complicit. We gave them an inch, and they took a mile.

    • In the "friendly" Danny might be tased, tackled, and beat (light to medium severity). THEN they'd figure out the federal charges, probably at least domestic terrorism. Whatever might "stick".

Bruce, it's amazing to me that the FAA has a literal hard on for our hobby, yet in the past month we have had almost a dozen GA crashes so far this month with almost as many fatalities! But the focus is on our fixed wing and rotary rc toys! Incredible but we are falling into the abyss of totalitarianism in the former USA! Thanks for your video highlighting this hypocrisy!

My biggest worry is theft. Bandos and bridges aren’t really safe areas. A drone broadcasting the pilot’s location is about as close you can get to yelling aloud “I have drastically reduced situational awareness and I’m surrounded by thousands of dollars of technology!”

A&P here. back when 9/11 was still a big thing, the FAA was super serious about securing all aircraft against theft. i was leaving work one day, when 2 of them showed up watch me leave an aircraft without locking the door. they proceeded to DEMAND i return and secure that aircraft from theft. i said no. you go do it. they were so focused on the fact the doors were unlocked that they didnt even notice i had the prop in the bed of my truck, heading to a prop-shop to get them overhauled. its not only the code makers but also the enforcers that have no clue how things actually work. and im 100% sure this is 100% true in any field of work.

So upsetting and ridiculous! Been in this wonderful hobby for over 30 years, and now it has more regulation than flying an ultralight, which has far more safety and security risk in my opinion. Thanks for fighting the fight with us xjet.

Right like a criminal is going to put RID in their RC aircraft. Or They can even use a fake RID.

The government's power is and always has been limited by the will of the people to be governed. Just look at the estimated compliance rate of the pistol brace ban. The further the government oversteps, the less relevant they make themselves.
