Paul Barry continues to lecture Australians on identity politics

- Sky News host Chris Kenny says Media Watch’s Paul Barry is lecturing Australians on identity politics when he is “an upper middle-aged, white Pommy male who, for all we know, could be cisgendered, straight and monolingual to boot”.
Mr Kenny said the Media Watch host has bought into a survey on media diversity and provided a lecture “against Anglo-Celts”.
“Apart from not practising what it preaches on diversity, the ABC ignores real diversity, the diversity of ideas,” Mr Kenny said.
Mr Kenny said at the ABC "they are just so focused on race and gender and sexuality".
"What about ideas (and) thought," he said.
Discussing the topic with Mr Kenny, broadcaster Justin Smith said "we should absolutely have diversity, but in a very real way".

i know a woman who uses her olive complexion to get work as an Indigenous TV presenter, I have called her out on this and another friend we shared who is Indigenous called her out to the TV station they were both working at but they told him that "they were only interested in her social media following". Shame on her and the TV station who just happen to celebrate diversity.

As a member of the ABC, Mr. Barry never seems to question the assumption that diversity is a universally good thing. The statement that diversity makes us strong, in my experience all it does is lead to confusion and conflict.

Forget about Paul Barry, the report from Media Diversity Australia itself is pure politics . The proportion of Anglo-Celtic people in the media is very similar to the number in the population generally. How this left-wing activist group decided a person belonged to a racial group was a mix of bios (surely not Wikipedia), their names (Jacinta Price sounds Anglo to me) and what the person looked like. Yes, personal observation is what people look like? The AHRC fought a court case against Andrew Bolt because he did just that. Ironically, former AHRC activist Tim Soutphommasane is an adviser to MDA. Rules get thrown out when it doesn't help the outcome. The report did not deserve mention in the media other that on SBS who got a big pat on the head. The media loves its pats on the head. Especially the ABC.

Barry says people need to see themselves on TV, and calls this diversity. The "self" is not the identity group to which the Marxist left assigns people, but the interior person, the ideas and the values held. As a conservative gay, I see my "self" not on Modern Family, for example, more likely in an Outsiders discussion. It is patronising and stereotyping for Barry to suggest that people's "self" is defined by their identity group, as approved by some Marxist ideologue.

Paul Barry admitted that he was one of the voices that gets to present the stories. What I think is interesting is that there are no people of colour on Sky. The majority of presenters on Sky are people like you Chris, Alan Jones, Paul Murray, Chis Smith, Rowan Dean or privileged white women like Peta Credlin. Frequent panellists include Mark Latham, Miranda Devine, Prof David Flint, Graham Richardson and Pru McSween not a person of non Anglo-Celtic background other than Rita Pahani who is the comedy relief. Are there no conservative voices among people of colour or does Sky just refuse to employ them. Whilst the report covered Free To Air TV since Sky seeks to have a position of influence it ought to look at its own line up and see if can't do better.
That's because to get a job on sky you actually have to be good at your job they are not a charity so won't be giving out jobs because of your race or 3rd gender you actually have to earn it. Funny how life works in the real world.
