Truly, Skall might be the only person that can talk mildly enthusiastically to me about a water bottle and at the same time make me burst out laughing.
I was not in the market, but I have buy 3 bottles for water and only one is half decent, so this recommendation is certainly helpful, I'm going to buy one.
But what is the best magical enchantment for a water bottle? Is it more suited for one or two handed use? Where is the point of balance and center of percussion? Is it resistant to cuts or thrusts? What is the optimal capacity to weight ratio in a zombie apocalypse scenario? There are so many questions left unanswered!
@@RyuFireheart i learned the hard way that a glass travel water container does not end well. can't imagine how it'll go with a double walled vacuum insulation.
"It fits very comfortably in the mouth...and that's not something I ever expected to say on this channel." Was already trying so hard to ignore the potential innuendos and was doing quite well, up to that point. Then I totally lost it 😂😂😂
This is an excellent bottle, the seal is good enough to keep carbonated beverages fizzy, and will keep ice cubes even in a hot car all day. Unfortunately, I've had 2 of them and both lost their insulating ability over time. My only guess is that the vacuum chamber leaks, so no longer vacuum insulation. After that you immediately feel the outside surface cold and moisture condensing on the surface. Ice will be gone in an hour.
For hot drinks, the Zojirushi bottle (also on Amazon) is worth every penny. It's extremely expensive, but it lives up to the cost; it insulates so well that coffee poured into it at 7:30 am is still hot at 4:30 pm, and its lock is so good that it never leaks in a bag, no matter how much it's tossed around. It disassembles for easy cleaning up top, stainless steel lining, etc. (No, I'm not an employee of Zojirushi, I just went through a lot of coffee mugs trying to find one I could toss in my messenger bag without worrying about leaks.)
When trying to find a safe drinking bottle, Skall made the perfect descriptionn of all the items and details which make this Coleman Switch a top product. I mean, he mentioned all the important things to be considered to think about before buying it. Well done.
I've seen this "Push to Drink" mechanic a couple times now, but that "safety" would actually be quite usuable. I've never thought I'd be, somewhat, excited to buy a Coleman product, but I guess that's just where we are.
I agree that stainless steel is a great material for a water bottle, but I don't care for fancy lids on a normal water bottle. I'm quite happy with my Klean Kanteen with standard screw top.
i was looking for a review for this Coleman Freeflow before buying it.. I wanted to make sure that autoseal cap was easily cleanable (i had another type that wasn't).. you showed that :) Thanks for the review.
Interesting enough i have had a coleman insulated coffee cup for years and the mouth mechanism is the same lol. Colemans has always made really good stuff in regards to camping gear.

If you take 2 such servings out of a "handle" bottle, a 1750ml, you can put enough in the 40oz stainless so that you and a friend are both fortified and safely stocked for a long day's travels and tasks, and still have something to come back to :)
@@animistchannel2983 Indeed, I commend you for putting far too much effort into that post. Great vid Skall, I think you could've definitely done better though, you didn't mention how much the bottle weighed or compared it to any of your other non-plastic bottles directly. If the bottle altered the taste of the water at all compared to glass, so on. Coleman could do better by including a glass slit that shows how much of the contents are left in the bottle, especially for that price.. I live in the UK so bottles with that many nooks and crannies on the cap are notorious for breeding mold that is difficult to clean off, it's not just about cleaning the mouth piece. Which is why I currently have an all glass bottle with a plastic screw on cap, nice and fast to clean, solid glass is sturdy for normal everyday use and you can see the contents/how much water is left, doesn't leak even in a bag because the threading is well mad and long. Obviously glass doesn't alter the water's taste, which is a big thing for me personally. Only drawback is that it probably weighs a lot more than this Coleman. However it does cost a tenth of the price and fits a lot better in an office space.
Boa Drago u know u might just be the saddest person I have ever encountered... 3 paragraphs on the effectiveness of water bottles and... to top it all off.... an anime profile pic! *sigh*
Thank you very much! Although it's 'just a bottle', never underestimate a good bottle. It's highly practical stuff for lots of people in lots of situations. But now that you began, I hope to see other especially awesome things sometime in the future :)
I have a stainless steel bottle that's seen me through thick and thin. It's been across the country, to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back, is all dented but still indestructible. But even I'll admit, the cap sucks. For one, it just opens the whole thing up, making it easy to spill, and difficult to use while walking, to amusing results. Occasionally leaks if you don't screw it on just right. If only I could get a custom made cap for it. I've had it too long to get rid of it.
A custom fancy cap like this one would be hard, but machining a new cap should be possible by measuring the thread and diameters I guess? I've got no idea what skilled people would charge for that but you could always ask if it matters enough to you. Machining is kinda dark magic to me, I know enough that many things are possible but how to actually do it boggles my mind at times. And if you do want a fancy cap on it like this one, I suppose a conversion piece between bottle and cap isn't impossible either but would be even more expensive: two threads to put on it + you'd need your cap in addition to it.
I've had a mighty mug forever and it's great. It doesn't get knocked over when I hit it accidentally, and it can be closed so when I am clumsy and drop it, it doesn't leak. I do have minor complaints about the air and drinking holes though, as the air hole gets clogged with gunk slowly over time and the cover piece for the drinking hole also gets some gunk on it. So it works, but it needs cleaning. I do wonder if a bottle like the one in the video will also have gunk buildup on the mechanism that it has or if it's gonna be a better bottle for my purpose.
Cheers for the review dude. Being someone who does alot of streaming a good insulated bottle is needed to keep hydrated plus the valve appeals to me since ive had many that leak after a short time or ive knocked off the desk by accident and caused a puddle. Time for me to order me a 40oz one
Well the cap and mouth piece still have plastic components, so technically one could worry about BPA and stuff there as well. But Coleman is a reputable manufacturer as far as I know and they list it as 100% BPA free on the product site which should include the cap as well. It looks like a well designed cap, I'd probably have gone for this one over the klean canteen with the twisty cafe cap thing had I known it exists but either is more than fine to transport hot drinks in my opinion (oh and just plain cold water too I guess).
Weird. Bottles very similar to that one have been pretty standard in Norway for some time. The military even adopted them some years ago and everybody seems to have them.
while my current thermos cup has the same autoseal safety and generally is good, it doesn't have the same crosspin safety, dirt cover and easyclean setup. the latter two making it quite a pain to clean. I'll definitely get this one! P.S. mine also doesn't come in purple. i must have it in purple.
I'd still prefer a simple steel flask with a screwable cap. This bottle's opening mechanism seems to be much more complex, which means it's easier to break. Flask is hard to clean though, if you don't fill it with plain water.
The funniest thing is, you would think bottles wouldnt be this big of a problem but they are! my current bottle leaks from under the mouth piece when i drink so I have to put my other are under it when i drink just so I dont get my clothes all wet. honestly gets me alot of weird looks
only thing I think you missed (and I would quite like to know) is temperature retention. How long will your water stay cold in that thing? I'm a bricklayer so I work in the sun most days (as does my water bottle) Otherwise this was truly good to watch, fair sure people would watch you taking about anything and find it enjoyable, have a good day my dude!
I know it’s been 3 years, but I reply for the sake of future readers at least. My time reading Amazon reviews tells me it depends on how well the specific one you get comes out from the factory. Some reviews say it lasts a whole day. Others 2-5 hours only. It depends on luck of the draw apparently. A lot of things are like this, including phone battery longevity, and durability of certain items in my experience.
Nice bottle but too much going on in that lid for me. Easy to clean or not, it's still full of small square areas, tunnels and small structure parts for cleaning. I clean my bottle each use. For people that don't like a lid full of crevasses and mechanical parts, there is the Coleman Fuse which is the same bottle with a simple screw on lid. Even cheaper since the lid would be less money to manufacture.
@@vgman94 so I ended up getting a deal on amazon and bought both sizes. The big one is huge and great for long trips but will not fit in a drink holder. The smaller is great for travel as its not too cumbersome. If your out on a jobsite all day get the big one. but for my daily driver use the smaller one. they both work very well at keeping drinks cold.
@@vgman94 very easy, lids can go in the dish washer. You will need a long handle brush as the large one is tall. The stopper mechanism can be flipped back for cleaning.

The funniest thing is, you would think bottles wouldnt be this big of a problem but they are! my current bottle leaks from under the mouth piece when i drink so I have to put my other are under it when i drink just so I dont get my clothes all wet. honestly gets me alot of weird looks
The first I thing I thought when seeing the title of this video was that Skall found the perfect water bottle for cutting tests.
Was waiting for him to test how well it could cut other bottles
It does
only thing I think you missed (and I would quite like to know) is temperature retention. How long will your water stay cold in that thing? I'm a bricklayer so I work in the sun most days (as does my water bottle)
Otherwise this was truly good to watch, fair sure people would watch you taking about anything and find it enjoyable, have a good day my dude!
If you start with camping/survival themed videos i will like it too.
Hey Skall, if you wanted to check out some more great bottles, check out the brand YETI, they've the best insulation of any bottle brand.
I was waiting for this. Buying it now. If it doesn't fit in my vans cup holder, I will end you rightly.
The color is skalla-green!
All that review (fine video by the way), and you didn't take a sip! RAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!
You should've had ended up with a sip!
Let us know if the paint starts to chip or flake off the exterior, my biggest problem with metal bottles. Another good video.
If it's like the other Coleman canteens and thermoses, it's more like an enamel than paint. Lasts for decades if it is.
Good to know. Thanks. The question I suppose is, is it?
Oh, God, you're amazing. It's a fuc..ing water bottle review and you somehow made it gorgeously funny
The perfect water bottle is one that can be used for cutting practice and reused and cut again forever.
really good!
This is one of the most hilarious things I`ve seen this week ;DD But a great bottle is a great bottle :D
Great video!
There are people who complain that after some time the lid doesn't seal 100% anymore.
Did that happen to you?
Thanks!
I still love my nalgene, its a 1L jar you put water in. Easy to clean, hard to break.
But does it have an air vent?
Probably, considering what you talked about with the flow rate
Thanks for the review. This seems to offer everything I need in a bottle, so I just ordered the 40oz one. :)
Do you like the 40 oz? I am trying to decide which size to get.
@@buzzymm Same. I’m leaning 40oz bc I would rather have more water than less, when I really need it. But I am unsure what to do.
@@buzzymm are they both easy to clean? Does the size make any difference for ease of cleaning?
@@vgman94 very easy, lids can go in the dish washer. You will need a long handle brush as the large one is tall. The stopper mechanism can be flipped back for cleaning.
