After sleeping on it, That was the most intense and emotional 4th quarter I’ve ever seen in 30+ years of watching live sports
US got away with a lot of fouls, one was when Embeid close to the end picked the Serbian player and then moved in front of him and threw an elbow and knocked him to the ground. Curry hit a 3 pointer off that illegal pick. No foul called.Serbia got screwed

People are frankly over-analyzing this -- Serbia's guards were hitting 3's at a rate far above their usual averages. Yes, props to them, but that's what can happen in basketball, sometimes everything just falls. That's statistically possible in any ONE game, there's a reason why NBA Championships are a 7 game series. In other words, Team USA took Serbia's BEST possible punch -- and STILL won. That's the takeaway.
Serbia can out to play and curry was the only one came out for the usa ready.
Single eliminations is tough. It is like NCAA style hard for any team to always win.. Even good teams and players can have a off night. Sometimes those 1-2 shots will be the results of the game.

I’m talking Embiid having the best game of his Olympic career, Lebron James triple double, the insane defense, and KD’s clutch iso at the end.
@@FunwiththeCoopers Not true. Nobody on Team USA was playing particularly badly -- that's the nature of basketball, sometimes different guys will step up in different games. And I say this as a Warriors fan and a Steph Curry MEGA fan who is still completely pumped about what he did.

USA was down for three & a half quarters. Didn't even draw level until 3mins & 40secs left in the entire game, so yeah, everyone braced themselves for a USA loss & Serbia upset. Not hard to comprehend.

In 2004 LeBron was only 19 years old...him Melo and Wade was only getting 10 minutes a game .That bronze medal was on the vets on that Olympic team like Iverson and Duncan.

It’s not so much how far the world has come but how the game has changed. It’s a shooter’s league, not an athlete’s league. And anyone anywhere can shoot.
the problem with this 2024 team is the lack of elite defenders outside of Jrue...with the level of physicality being allowed DPOY/MVP David Robinson, DPOY/MVP GOAT, MVP/All defense Karl Malone with All-World Defense Scottie (and Ewing, Stockton as all defense) would have had 'Serbia and them' locked down.

Well yeah the game has changed, but also make sure that Team USA is not partying before GameDay. They got too complacent. That's it. The other teams in the Olympics have more or less played longer and are more together than the USA team.

That’s why I love basketball. That’s why you play until the last tic has tocked. Keep in mind, the world is sending their best no matter the sport to our colleges for training and returning to their countries. I praise them all. The greater the competition, the higher the bar becomes.
Serbia’s ball movement, physical defense, & the way they out rebound USA was too much for them in the first 3 quarters. Thank God to Steph for keeping us close early in the game & everybody stepped up in the 4th offensively & defensively.
Serbia is definitely the second best in this Olympic basketball tournament!

This is an insane take! I would definitely bet against the Pistons! This isnt the Euro League of the 90s where there were a handful of good players. There's many legit NBA level players there who just choose to stay in Europe even after they get drafted or don't even enter the draft!

I don’t watch a lot of basketball, but this Joe Vardon guy is a little off in his analysis.
Pasting this Lebron story is so sickening. The only reason these games are close is because Kerr is allowing Lebron to walk the ball up every possession instead allowing the YOUTH to play FULL COURT PRESS, winning defensively exploding past these slow euro teams… that’s how we won in years past!!! Taking advantage of our number asset while exposing their number one weakness. The games are not exciting… THE GAMES ARE BORING!

Conversely, should LeBron get a triple double worth of assists by passing to Steph who nails a contested 3? Very doubtful. KD stood arounsdlike a 7 year old in the clutch (as he did during his Westbrook days). Yesterday, LeBron was John Stockton feeding the better player: i.e., Steph Curry as Karl Malone.

Gentlemen, you would have lost the game if you didn't have the referees on your side.. A few controversial and obvious decisions in the decisive moments and you are in the OI finals.. Coach Pešić got a technical foul because of that.. Be realistic..

This is what modern day basketball looks like, just shoot and shoot then shoot some more, never play DEFENSE. Any good shooting team or a good shooting day has a chance to beat Team USA, as Serbia almost did. This Team USA is like the 2004 Bronze team that was led by AI, who also didn't know how to play DEFENSE.

Serbia shot insanely well for any standards. They were straight-up not missing. Meanwhile Steve Kerr clearly did not draw up any sort of adjustments whatsoever. Game only shifted when Bron, KD, Curry, and Embiid decided not to listen to Kerr's ideas.
