I went to my mom's house for dinner last night and brought this for dessert. We all loved it! It's a wonderfully simple, delicious cake, one I will definitely make many more times. Thanks so much for the recipe!
And, for my fellow Americans who want to try it, here are the converted measurements I used:
For the Cake:
1 stick (1/2 cup) room-temperature butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 cup flour
1 t. baking powder
A pinch of salt
1 t.-1 T. cinnamon, to taste
1 1/4 cup peeled and chopped apples
For the Crumble Topping:
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup cold butter

I tried this recipe last Sunday. It became the best breakfast treat, and it's gone now, eaten up and there are cries for MORE. Absolutely delicious. I'll be doing another one soon.
The last 18 years I was working as a Baker in the convent ( only for the Irish nuns) in Canada I really enjoyed my baking while I was there... I did so much for of desserts including this Irish apple cake but I always add some green raisins soked in brandy turned out very very tasty...also caramel sauce with brandy...thanks for sharing..

Absolutely amazing. We had a traditional Apple Crumble Cake in our family, and we've never found one that tastes better (for us). Until now. Thank you sooo much! We tried it a month ago, and now I have one cooking in my oven and we cannot wait! Yumm! (I've added walnuts because we love the combination)! :)

This came out very well for me.
I halved the ingredients and cooked it in a small loaf tin, as I did not need that much cake 👌🏼
I made this apple cake today and served it with some blackberry syrup. The recipe is sooo sooo good, i'm really glad i found it, and i'm going to follow your other recipes from now on. :)

Yummy Yum Yum!! Best thing EVER to make with Cooking apples!! So Easy!! My tip make the crumble part first and put it in the fridge!! Never going to attempt a tart again!!! Did I say YUM!!!

I made this along with some hot chocolate and it was so good! I added a bit extra milk, baking powder& cinnamon but the milk was on purpose cause my mixture was a bit dry. Gonna make it next time!:)

I made this for dessert tonight. Instead of baking a cake, I put the portions into muffin size. The baked good were gone in 15 minutes around the house! (there were 4 of us, not just me!!) Awesome recipe! I can eat it again and again and again :)
