#PlatinumBlonde #CryingOverYou
Lyrics:
Crying, crying over you
Intensify security
Break the chains that hold me down
No chance for sanity around here
Cause I ain't gonna be your fool no more
Another mask of innocence
You hide away for convenience
It's just a change of attitude oh yeah, yeah
Cause I ain't gonna be your fool no more
Cause I ain't crying, crying over you
All you ever want me to do
Crying over you
You never seem to state your case
You always make me lose it, lose it
I'm getting tired of running the race oh yeah, yeah
Chorus
Nothing's gonna change my direction
Cause I ain't gonna cry'
Crying, crying over you
All you ever want me to do
Crying over you, oh no, oh no
These guys are criminally underrated. This should've been a world wide #1 song.
It's pretty good but come on, they're no Duran Duran
@@dinosaur8702 This song never charted outside Canada. It should've been a worldwide #1 song.
@rebeltvr6046 it would've went against Head Over Heels, We Built this City and Take on Me. It'd never would've stood a chance
@@dinosaur8702 You think there are only a few hits? There was plenty of room for this group to also rise up with them.
This song doesn't sound good to me. Sounds awful, but they have pretty hair.
The 80 's wouldn't be the same without Plataum Blond . They are really good musicians too.
The influence of Miami Vice & Duran Duran Rio is as vivid as the colors in this mid 80s pop release
PLATINUM BLONDE started out as a PUNK Band, I seen PB with HONEYMOON SUITE in the same show and it was fucking EPIC. Mark Holmes has 1 of the best voices in Rock History!!!
Blonde, Platinum Blonde.🕵♂
The very epitome of mid - 80s Canadian New Wave pop. Blasting from the cassette player speakers on the school bus daily during that long ride to the rural high school.
I was more into R & B but I really liked this video and song. I think that their label was trying to make them the Canadian Equivalent of Duran Duran.
@@laminage I never liked that label. The only things that they had in common with Duran Duran were hair, makeup, nice clothes, and hordes of screaming girls as fans. The music wasn't the same.
@CelesteKTheNewWaveRevue Yes but at that time they were very popular and powerful.
@@laminage Yes that's true. :)
@@CelesteKTheNewWaveRevueI said that because I noticed that when one genre is popular everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon. 1960-1964 there were all kinds of Girlgroups then the british invasion came along. Then I remembered as a kid after the Jackson Five there were so many family groups like Five Star, Sylvers nd Debarge and their lives were a nightmare. Prison, Drugs, Alcohol, and financial problems. Then New Edition was big and kicked the door for so many groups that came after them, most notably boyz to men.
The video absolutely captures the look (and feel) of 1985 perfectly. That is really what it looked like and was like for a lot of people (myself included). The colours, hair, sound feel, that's 1985 right there. Brings back memories of that summer when every song on the radio was outstanding. Living in Coquitlam B.C. with LG73 playing this and providing a wonderful soundtrack to a great summer.
I really loved this Video. These Four were played big time bad. I was more into R & B (Still Am) but this was so 1980's. The big problem was that them and Kajagoogo imitated Duran Duran too much in my opinion. I would love for there to be a Segment on VH1's Behind The Music. What stories they could tell.
1985 was also the year of Sylvester Stallone, on top of his game at age 39. Does everyone agree?
I remember listening to LG73 too lol I lived in Abbotsford at that time and remember dancing to this song in those little soc hops that were so popular in junior high LOL awesome memories! :D
im also in coquitlam bc
Canada had great new wave bands back then. Right next to British bands. Americans were not really doing this kind of music at the time.
I used to listen to this over and over again! ❤
A good Canadian Rock band, thanks for posting this song.
Yeah, sure. Men acting like ladies... 1984.
They were a successful Rock Group that Made albums and toured Worldwide and Yes, they had Pop influence with big Hair, but they were talented Professional Musicians. Like them or not, the 80's had plenty of what you wrote. It was as excellent era in music and there was increase in digital recording in which the association synthesizers and synth-pop music, many other electronic genres with non-traditional instruments that also increased in popularity. The 80's was also an era that had the rise of electro, techno, house, freestyle, and Eurodance, that rose in prominence during the 1990s and beyond. R&B, hip hop, and urban rap were all popular.
@@MrMusique1970 Jealous much?
I am pretty there from wellend Ontario from what I heard , I saw them in person it was pretty cool 😎
@@MrMusique1970 Dude. Get a life 😂😂😂
Canadian bands ROCK! 🤘
this song is criminally underrated
Platinum Blonde is Criminally underrated...
Under rated by who? You gonna make a claim, you better back it up.
@AngryCanadian their views are crazy low considering how good they are.
@@Wow-ng4sw Exactly...normally, I wouldn't subscribe to the 'x is so underrated' narrative..but w/ this song, it rings true. I never hear this song on American radio, even on 80s specials or documentaries and the like, you just don't hear this one ever getting much love or play...I would honestly rate it in the top 10 of 80's bangers
Alex Lifeson played solo.sick!
I love these guys that video is the essence of the mid eighties
I just can't get over how amazing this song/video is... Not only does it have every awesome 80's thing possible (big hair, big colors, rhythmic chorus guitar incorporated in the groove, orchestral synth pad doubling the vocal melody, big drum crashes, scorching lead solo, etc.) it also has some unexpected twists like the haunting alternative vocal lines (reminds me of Deftones). Also the entire video has an eerie resemblance to the "Barbie Girl" video in overall aesthetic and dream-like quality.....definitely way ahead of its time!
Astute Evaluation Steelheart.
Spot on
Thanks to Mr. Alex Lifeson of Rush for the guitar solo in this song!!!
Right,man-came here looking for this after having known of it's existence for 30 years..never sought it out till now!
Wow! I heard Nick Rhoades Of Duran Duran WRote "Too Shy" for Kajagoogo and another Fellow Colin Thurston. He never mentioned that on Behind The Music.
Wow. Never knew. Thanks.
?
He played the riff on that track?
I used to be in a Pltinum Blonde cover band when I was 16 years old & I loved it!!! They rock it gorgeous!!!
Everything is great! From Japan with respect.
Wow .!! It’s still my all time favorite since i was in High School in the Bronx during the 80’s the best years of my life
August 16 billy idol and platinum blonde at the bell center Montreal
2:27 - Alex Lifeson shredding like the guitar hero wizard we know him to be!
@@baremetalmachine933 Alex played on the recording but that’s Sergio Galli in the video. But around that time Alex WAS sporting some serious Duran Duran hair!
@@baremetalmachine933 Some people dislike anything that sounds remotely 80s. Alex was channeling some serious 80s shredding in that solo but it undeniably has his note choices all over it! I haven't heard him play a bad note, ever.
@@d.a.w.975 Check out the blazing runs he does on La Villa Strangiato from A Show of Hands. Pretty much an identical guitar sound too.
Saw these guys last month...opening act for Billy Idol...they were super tight and sounded great...would see them again hopefully as a head liner
Sergio Galli had the best rock persona of any Canadian band member at the time. Such a cool look.
Love it! Saw them in Seattle in 1986. GREAT concert. Miss 80's music--was some of the best and so much better than what they call "music" now a day.
i agree with you two hundred percent, and im 19. i wish i grew up back then. makes me sad
@@kaitlynelizabeth7455 the one good thing about not growing up back then is you still get to be young ! I was born in 1980 and of course loved it but now I’m 43! Lol 7 short years till I’m 50! 😂😩
Watching this is also a bummer and a reality slap thinking about how good we had it back then and our youth. ha
The hair: goals
What a awesome song. Crying over you.
Monster hit!
'Yes, and really hot guys too!'
I wasn't expecting Alex Lifeson, of my all-time favorite band, to lend such a scorching lead break to a song (synth-pop) to a song that is typically LIGHT YEARS outside of his genre (progressive hard rock), but the fleet fingered break actually works.
Good to see some 80 's stuff come back is that Alex lifeson on the lead guitar
Actually Alex Lifeson did the guitar solo on that song!!!
@@guy5359 Right - wasn't the story something like Alex Lifeson performed the solo, and it took Sergio 2 weeks or so to fully learn it?
I remember listening to the Standing in the Dark album over and over again. One of the best albums I ever heard. Funny how it sounds modern now still. Like it was way way way ahead of it's time.
Canadian New Wave 🇨🇦
with an edge, much heavier than typical new wave and im ok with that
I WANT MY MTV !!! 1981-1985
Awesome Song.
Playing live in the park in Port Moody, British Columbia tonight. It’s a beautiful day and world class sunsets here. This is gonna be good!!
The flashiest Canadian band of the time! Great song.
The amount of money spent on hair products in this music video must have been through the roof
right up to the ozone layer!
I love Aussie spray. 🤪😃😂
Yeah, this band never really made any money sadly
@@machupikachu1085 They did in Canada, + Australia so made loads of money. But Mark said: that drugs and poor business decisions played a role in the band's demise and told the Edmonton Journal that he had been involved in a four-year battle with Sony to regain the rights to his songs and get out of his contracts
I was young! like 11.But this music was my starter to be a DJ. Today, I just can say thanks folks for the awesome career I had... you learned me how to beat and to harmonize... all your work was awesome!
My two greatest bands in the world are Platinum Blonde and Coldplay🙋
Best band of that decade
One of the best bands of the 80s.
Great song, still listening July 2024 🇨🇦
Great Canadian Band
Never realized the symbolism…crazy !!!
Alex Lifeson from Rush did the Guitar solo :)
Living in Detroit we used to have a canadian channel that played videos and they were my favorite
That is the beauty of living close to the Canadian border. I wouldn’t know the channel off hand. However, when I was and undergraduate at the University of Michigan, I would listen to CIDR-FM during my senior year.
Love this song
This album was solid! And that hair!
Omg ❤️ love to Darren!!! loved this band and still do... Darren brought me to see them back in the day....forever grateful 🙏
Weird that the COOLEST damn thing to come outta Canada , had that hair
It was the eighties. Everyone had that hair.
@@sweiland75 uh, not me.
Take off, eh?
Canada's answer to Duran Duran! #Cancon #Classic
You know what would be so cool is see a Documentary about Women who were in Classic Music Videos. A-Ha, Thriller, The Way You Make Me Feel, This One amongst others.
If Faster Pussycat and Duran Duran had a baby, you would get Platinum Blonde
Lol
Alex Lifeson recorded such wicked guitar solo. Yes. It was uncle Al.
Best song ever!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I Love-ee this song!!!! ♥️💃🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Still holds up.
Still one of my favorite songs of all time.
Alex Lifeson from Rush played the guitar solo
Cryiiiimng crying over youuuuuuu
This was posted three years ago today! 😮
Song and video have a strong Duran-Duran feel to it.
In 1985 I was halfway through a 7 year overseas job in the Philippines. I am not too bummed that I missed most of this decade in the states.
I am bummed that after '82, I did not go to another RUSH concert.
I've always said that these dudes were the Canadian version of Duran Duran.
@@drummingdanny84 Lol true
They are often referred to as Canada’s answer to Duran Duran, I love both bands 💕
As head scratching as the video is, it’s remarkably well produced! The song is great as is the whole band, Alien Shores is a classic AOR/New Wave album and the follow up album Contact is also a great slice of funky pop rock.
'Head scratching,..why??"
She screwed all the band members one by one then she's on to tbe hired help. In the end she uses them all and moves on
@@davidconnellan6875 Of course she did. This song is about cheating. Mark said in an interview with GRT that "once you know what somebody is about you're never going to cry over them again."
The height of 80s masculinity! Back when dudes like George Michael and Boy George were pullin' all the ladies!
Ahhhhhh Boy George wasn’t pulling ANY ladies!! ( George was gay,he was going out with Jon Moss in his band Culture Club.)And…George Michael put on a good front for a few years with the ladies, but ultimately the truth came out, and He was gay…So maybe get your facts straight.Just sayin……..
'Yes!, 'gorgeous men then!' he he
@@teeka004 imagine not getting the joke.
Hahahaha fucks sake 🤣
Uh. Ok. Pretty sure stallone or arnold were the staple
Yes, another classic I forgot all about until hearing it a few days ago. I remember hearing this classic in 1985, on 94FM in Thunder Bay, and on my home stereo or the Philco AM/FM stereo in my 1978 Mustang. Amazing how music brings back memories.
Kick ass bro
By crying over the other, he is actually crying over himself. Sweet.
One of my very first concerts~ meeting the band is still a vivid memory.❤️🔥
Kenny was in the band then & I remember him so well~ he was such a sweet & genuine guy. He spent several minutes talking to my bff and I. RIP💔
I love this song every time I hear it
Wow! This takes me back!
Love Alex Lifeson's guitar solo on this tune.
I did not know that. 😮 Makes sense though!
The amount of hair product, wow.
Completly agree this group is the 1st :)
My favorite since 1986
Lol, take the boat reference from Rio and a g rated " behind the screen " from the Reflex video......anyway, Holmes is still awesome, saw him last week open for BFI.....
This was the unofficial theme song for my Grade 8 trip to Ottawa.
CE HIT DE 1985 D'UN GROUPE CANADIEN:PLATINUM BLONDE A AUSSI REMPORTER UN JUNO.WOW THANKS PLATINUM BLONDE.
Puro suco de anos 80!
I think the girl in the video is Canadian actress Ocean Hellman, from the Danger Bay TV show
Miss them days wow 85 was 15 great band
I am a Canadian gen x, this band was Canada's version of Duran Duran
Yes❤
Good song. A nice time in our history. Hard to watch him dance though.
'Why?, he's adorable!, he's not really 'dancing', just moving around'.
Love this classic!
Solo is pretty good
Alex Lifeson from Rush :D
Alex Lifeson should`ve been in the video as well, he did fit the look!
Fuck someone bring back the original CFNY 102.1radio station back from toronto.....
God - it’s so obvious they stole the video “formula” right off of Duran Duran - jet set lifestyle, private jets, boats, modelesque women, designer suits , you gotta love the 1980s!
They were the Canadian version of Duran Duran.
Eternally hilarious.
one of the best songs of the 80s. i still love it to this day.
Is it true that the guitar solo is by Alex Lifeson of Rush? Must have bothered the guitarist in Platinum Blonde mimicking Alex's guitar for this video.
Who is “The Spin Off P.B. Or Duran Duran??
Just found this song I came at the right time just uploaded a month ago 😁 love from 2021 let’s go
Was able to them in Hamilton - free after their status decreased.
I think I was the only fan there that knew who they were- I didn’t complain just doing my thing- pretty much the only one lined up to have a picture with Mark, then more pics with them waving from their vehicle as they were in front of me when leaving the park.
I can stand only 17 seconds of this song - the space between Al's first and last notes.
Always though this had a bit of Rush Mystic Rythms and Bananarama Cruel Summer flavor to it
Rush member Alex Lifeson performed guitar on this
That would explain it, thanks for the info !
I heard the guitar solo is actually Alex Lifeson from Rush. Is that true?? It sounds like him.
Yup. He liked the fact that they were doing a concept record, so he cut solos on two tracks.
Cheers!
This is when they started going too pop.
YES Always fools!
HAHAHA had to watch it to see if it was as outrageously cheezy as if was in my memories... good times
I believe that if they had removed that electronic drum, and put in the normal one, they would have soared, like other Glam bands at the time, because they had a lot of talent, it's a shame.
I need to restart their hair trend while I still have them. They look so cool.
omg the hair....
