There's something completely other-worldly about, not just this song, but Shakespears Sister itself - Siobhan and Marcella are gloriously enchanting together. Will forever love this!
That era had many amazing songs. Even great songs did not make it to number one due to the sure number of songs available. Now the 1990s was not as good as the 1980s as there was a big drop off in the quality.

Almost all the lyrics/melodies are different to the studio version, and as a muso, i looked to band members ABSOLUTELY for changes as dramatic as that one!

My understanding is that Siobhan was drunk af when they did the video and that is why there were so many cuts in it. Obviously she was doing a lot better on TotP.

I think it's just slightly too modern. The last season was 1986. But I would take any means necessarry of bringing this song back. Because it's one of the greatest ever.
How embarrassing is it that we need to beg a television show to make songs popular again, but why would you even want that? it'll turn this comments section into a ''Who's here in 2024?'' comment section and a bunch of cringe tiktok kids who are here for the trend then consider the song ''old news'' after a year.
I much prefer the people who actually knew this song back in the day and those who are younger finding it themselves and spreading it among others who actually want to listen to it as opposed to a bunch of cringe listeners appearing just because it was in a scene about a floating girl with a headset on.

There was a whole period in the 90s when if you didn't play live, you couldn't go on TOTP. Hardly rare.
& tbf, the only thing live in this performance is the vocals.
The singing is live but the music is 100% playback
I think they were trying to defeat acid/rave music, I think the idea was that if you had to sing it live, that would ruin all those sampled vocals.

One of my all-time favourite songs, top 3 material. It's timeless, they both play their part to perfection. I'm sorry they didn't do more, and garner more appreciation, what they did was terrific.

I wrote a novel which was originally written as a TV series. If it were to ever be made, this song is a very important part of the story for one of the characters, really hope I get to see it made one day.

Before auto tune when artists were true artists and could replicate their songs live like this. Both ladies have phenomenal voices. I don't know if Siobhan did any solo stuff after this, it would have been awesome with that tone.
