I have a little theory, a headcanon so to speak, that Ranni was originally betrothed to Godwyn as a way to fully unite both the Carian royal family and Erdtree royal family. So for a few years all was well and good, even Ranni herself liked Goldwyn since we know he was smart and benevolent, someone who’d rather pursue diplomacy rather than war as we’re told through how he handled the Ancient dragon Erdtree war. (And don’t complain to me abt them being related, Marika literally screwed herself to birth the twins, Miq and Mal. ) So how did Ranni end up killing her half-brother and potential husband, stripping herself of her flesh and blood, triggering the shattering and subsequent wars? Why did it have to be Godwyn she killed? Well, I think Godwyn cheated on her with an ancient dragon. It’d explain personally why she killed Godwyn’s soul along with her body, as well as why they’re considered connected in a way since that part was never explained why. It’d also explain why she’s so adamant to trust another man and take in a consort, and go at it alone. If you also take into account that the story was co-written by GRRM, this theory wouldn’t be that far fetched.

If you go by the lore that we have about Marika and Ranni it's probable that Marika helped Ranni steal a piece of destined death from maliketh and the night of the black knives was planned to start the shattering. Marika is the only person that has knowledge about maliketh location and the only person who knows how to access farum azula. Not even Gideon the all knowing knew this. Also the black knife assassins that Ranni used by infusing their blade with destined death had close ties to Marika due to her emperiyan race.
I just don't understand how rennela and radagon can have a child like aren't radagon and queen marika the same person hell how can even queen marika and radan have kids ?
I still think Marika helped Ranni get the rune of death. Merika was definitely moving against the Golden Order, which is why the Order moved Radagon into the consort of Marika position and eventually fusing with her.
At least regarding the need to kill another person, I think it probably has something to do with how the rune of death functions? It always killing both the body and soul of the victim, so Ranni split it up and had the Black Knives kill her and Godwyn at the same time so that her body could be slain but her soul be spared by having Godwyn's soul take her place As for why she chose him specifically? My best guess is that he was the #1 heir to the title of godhood and one of the most powerful demigods and so if Ranni was to ascend and rid the Lands Between of the outer gods' influence he had to go
@@psykodactylecorrect, godwyn was supposed to be the next elden lord and lead the golden order which was designed by the greater will. Ranni was next in line to take the place of Queen Marika due to being an empyrean race.
This is my interpretation of elden ring. You're in a world that has been in a state of stagnation for a hot minute and as a result is plagued with death and destruction. By becoming elden lord, you haven't solved any of the problems in the lands between. All you have done is secured yourself with a title. That does nothing. If you decide to endorse the frenzied flame and burn the entire world, you're putting an end to all of the suffering that has taken place because of the actions of the golden order by destroying everything. It's the end. If you decide to abandon the golden order and bring fourth the age of the stars, you're creating a clean slate for all living creatures. An opportunity for people to create their own paths, and solve their own problems without needing the blessing of the golden order. It's clear the golden orders race is run, and if it continues to exist the only thing that will come of it is more death and destruction, you can either create a clean slate for everyone, or destroy everything and end everyone's suffering.
@@anonisnoone6125 Ranni had every right to do it lol The greater will is poison, the golden order is poison, she'd do anything possible to free herself and others from the greater will. Hence her age of stars.

Ranni’s actions were definitely some of the most selfish and deceptive, killing her own half brother to further her goals (even if the golden order is corrupt). So while you can’t blame her for some things, she definitely got more than she deserved compared to a lot of her other sibljngs
I would not say ranni is behind everything. The murder of godwyn sure but the shattering is really what caused the biggest issue and that they decided godwyn deserved a erd tree burial. Marika caused most shit happening but Ranni has a big part of how it went this way.
Plus she had you the player and Blaidd kill her brother Radahn to release the stars and kickstart her fate. Utterly ruthless...she is only surpassed by Marika in ruthlessness, cruelty, and selfish scheming
Whether Ranni's path is good or evil, depends on whether you think the golden order is just and if it isn't, if it can be fixed and if it can't be, what means are acceptable to get rid of it.

I still think Marika helped Ranni get the rune of death. Merika was definitely moving against the Golden Order, which is why the Order moved Radagon into the consort of Marika position and eventually fusing with her.
that's why we do the frenzied flame :)
Yea she’s still pretty bad either way
I don’t I’ve ever understood why that meant she needed to kill poor Godwyn. I swear I know nothing about him.
At least regarding the need to kill another person, I think it probably has something to do with how the rune of death functions? It always killing both the body and soul of the victim, so Ranni split it up and had the Black Knives kill her and Godwyn at the same time so that her body could be slain but her soul be spared by having Godwyn's soul take her place
As for why she chose him specifically? My best guess is that he was the #1 heir to the title of godhood and one of the most powerful demigods and so if Ranni was to ascend and rid the Lands Between of the outer gods' influence he had to go
He was one of the most powerful and loved demigods, making peace with the dragons and etc
@@psykodactylecorrect, godwyn was supposed to be the next elden lord and lead the golden order which was designed by the greater will. Ranni was next in line to take the place of Queen Marika due to being an empyrean race.
Yeah I really don't like Ranni at all tbh but her quest is so awesome. Especially that space bug boss thing.
And yet, I still help her. Cause I believe in second chances.
No way u think she deserves a 2nd chance after what she did. What she did Godwyn is already enough for her to not deserve any redemption.
@@anonisnoone6125 Didn’t say it was right. I still give second chances.
Ranni is not a hero she never was
This is my interpretation of elden ring.
I dont blame her tbh. She wanted freedom from her desting being chosen for her, so she took that freedom by any means necessary
By ruining countless people's lives just cos she "didn't want to be told what to do". I have a feeling Marika helped her as well.
@@anonisnoone6125 Ranni had every right to do it lol
The greater will is poison, the golden order is poison, she'd do anything possible to free herself and others from the greater will. Hence her age of stars.
Ranni's Ending is the best ending
The night of the black knives isnt as bad what jschlit did in 99
I serve ranni for other reasons
Something about there being "the night of the black knives" which weirdly parallels "the night of the long knives" irl feels weird, is this whole game a 30's-40's allegory??
Ranni isn't evil and Marika isn't good. Rennala, considered one of the better demigods, obviously is on good terms with Ranni.
Rennala is not a demigods
@@khanhho6441 yeah she is
@@saintjiubtheeradicator she hold a great rune but she is not a demigod. You could search it on elden ring wiki. There only 2 characters could be considered as god are Marika and Radagon so only their children are called demigods. Rennala is Radagon ex-wife not his daugter
Eeee not gonna listen to the guy that says "two brothers" blaidd was approved of by Rennala, and was raised as her foster brother. 3 count em three brothers ahahaah. I've got no strings. To hold me down. To make me fret, or make me frown. I had strings. But now I'm free. There are no strings on me. Hi-ho ...
Fromsoft's lore is so convoluted and uses so much gibberish old words that even the translators effed-up. Ranni's ending was supposed to be her sacrificing herself for the world, instead they translated it to her taking over the world🤦♂️
So whyd she pick Godwyn? I'd imagine its bc he's basically the face of the Golden Order? He isn't corrupt like the Order
Picking Ranni's ending cuz it's "the best for the lands between" ❌
Picking Ranni's ending so you can piss off from the shithole that is the lands between ✅
Nope.. Marika could've been involved too. The most likely is that Godwyn was meant to die a true death but Ranni double crossed Marika.
Ranni’s actions were definitely some of the most selfish and deceptive, killing her own half brother to further her goals (even if the golden order is corrupt). So while you can’t blame her for some things, she definitely got more than she deserved compared to a lot of her other sibljngs
This might be the simp talking but I believe she did the right thing in the long run😊
Not at all.
@@anonisnoone6125dude's in every comment making sure people know he HATES Ranni lmao
I would not say ranni is behind everything.
The murder of godwyn sure but the shattering is really what caused the biggest issue and that they decided godwyn deserved a erd tree burial.
Marika caused most shit happening but Ranni has a big part of how it went this way.
Ranni killed Goldwyn, the two fingers are corrupt, why not become the lord of frenzied flame instead?
Plus she had you the player and Blaidd kill her brother Radahn to release the stars and kickstart her fate. Utterly ruthless...she is only surpassed by Marika in ruthlessness, cruelty, and selfish scheming
Whether Ranni's path is good or evil, depends on whether you think the golden order is just and if it isn't, if it can be fixed and if it can't be, what means are acceptable to get rid of it.

The ranni slander is wild do we forget that the greater will sent the elden beast down and that chose marika created the elden ring and together they slaughtered every outer god they could get their hands on? She’s not responsible for anything except starting the shattering because she wanted free will and the rest of the lands between to have it as well away from the greater will.
Everyone always leaves out that Rani also had herself killed with the rune of death she stole. She would rather kill and die than have her fate usurped.
I mean she not technically dead just her body bruh. But she really murdered her brother… what a bitch
So she caused all the uncountable agony and suffering of everyone.
Great never liked her anyway
Ranny is the one that gives you the bell at start of the game? (I am at the academy in liurna ) i'm pretty new
Yes, she is the one sitting down in church of Elle and she gives you the bell and then vanishes! Have fun playing the game, it’s great :)
Man I envy you who gets to play this game for the first time. I wish I could erase it from my memory, so I could play it again
@@RandomNorwegianGuy. i'm actually gettibg destroyed by radhan without the opportunity to do anything, do you think bloodfang is too slow to do radhan and that i have to do it with a katana instead?
@@Aenor-p1r You just need to learn the moveset, then any weapon becomes viable. I beat him for my 4 time just yeasterday dual wielding 2 greatstars. It went very well, so I can recommend the greatstar
@@Aenor-p1r I have not used Katanas in the game so I can't tell you if it is good or bad. But the easiest I have taken him with was with the blasphemous greatsword
I will always choose the Frenzied Flame ending, Melina is better than Ranni in my opinion
Ranni ending is best ending.
simp. you hand her the throne that YOU did all the work for meanwhile all SHE did was murder her brother and change her body so she wouldnt be punished by the GW. choosing to side with her is like siding with an even more sadistic Cercei Lannister lol
It's not. Don't be a simp for her.
Simp alert
Found another Ranni simp
Why he say blaidd's name like that is he just reading wiki and never played the game?
While yes this is all true, technically its all Marikas bullshit that started it and we see it even more with the dlc
Princess raani❤
His name is Blaidd not Blaiid also it's not pronounced with a d at the end instead it's the "th" sound.
She is your wife
More like marika is responsible for everything that happens
Well radagon and marika is the same. That might not clear for some people
Can someone tell me why they killed ranni without any spoilers?
I thought radhan and rennlea were married and radhan had broke up with her and left her heart broken
Godfrey & Marika: Three kids
Radagon & Rennala: Three Kids
Radagon & Marika:…just two?…oh wait
Isn’t miquella an empyrean too?
When you put it like this Ranni is kinda video game Lelouch. Or Video Game Lelouch 2 since Edelgard exists.
The saddest thing about Ranni is since she's a doll, she's NOT BREEDABLE
Its not ranni's fault neither it is of merika or the golden order its all MIYAZAKI'S fault for making a game in which everyone is right and wrong at the same time and leaves the decision to us players
