Just goes to show you, you can learn something every day… I had no idea they had soda cans with pulltabs during the Civil War! 🧐 😃 great hunt, I am envious, I would love to work a Civil War battlefield!
Man that was a lot of relics. Loved how you added your insignia to yours. Don't remember seeing any fuses except yours. Could tell you were excited. Good job
Very interesting dig. You would make a great archaeologist. I camped on a farmers field @Antietam Battlefield in 1960 with the Boy Scouts when I was 13 yro. From 100 years of plowing the field there were thousands of surface finds of Minie Bullets every step you took. I was named after Robert E. Lee, so you can imagine what a thrill it was to experience this.
Gin it was nice meeting you at DIV. Nice job on finding the 2 fuses, anyone would be happy finding those. That is tough soil to hunt but you proved with a little determination you can still make some great finds.
That was a very nice event and hunt. Your videos are always improving. I hope you enjoy making these videos as much as I enjoy watching them. I appreciate the hard work you do to produce these videos. You are a remarkable person.
You had some cool finds and wow, so many bullets and even buckles found! When I saw those, I couldn’t help thinking of the lives lost there. Thanks for sharing the hunt and the weather, wow, it looked gorgeous!
Yes, I thought of that on while I was there. I asked about it and someone said there was roughly 15k troops at this battle. It must have been dreadful.😔
Hi Gin nice finds everyone found but the best ones are the one you find as it was so hard for you to dig loving your bling up headphones take care stay safe hope to see you soon ❤👍👍
Being allowed to detect on a civil war site is something I would love to be able to do. Looks like everyone there had a lot of great finds. Thanks for sharing.
My Uncle George started metal detecting old battle fields just after WW2 with a mine detector he got as surplus for $5...He collected amazing finds...He donated them to Wentworth Military Academy in Sedalia Missouri. Hoping your finds get a wonderful home other than FB and IG ...It might be a nice year round up to show your collection🙂
Great video Gin. I had a great time hunting with you. We sure had a lot of fun. That was a great hunt. I have been attending DIV hunts for 10 years and I always look forward to the next one. I think you see now why we call these family reunions. You meet so many new friends at each hunt and look forward to seeing them again on the next hunt. I look forward to seeing you again on some future hunts.
Gin Another great and relaxing video! That was a great time and hunt for sure. You never know what you'll find and that's the fun of it all. Many shamrocks for you and vases to keep them fresh for Luck on your next hunt!! 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🏆🏆 ❤
Enjoyed your video! Great finds! We’ve been having the same problem with the ground being too hard in Texas right now too. Great video Gin! Good luck on your next hunt!
My first relic hunting trip back in the 70s at Fair Oaks VA I found an SNY (State Of New York) belt buckle using a metrotek metal detector, it did not have discrimination so I dug hundreds of trash items also😅
Yep, I watched a ton of that at this hunt because those PI machines don’t have VDI. I dug a fair bit myself too because the soil messed with VDI pretty badly here. When on a cool spot you kinda have to do it.🙂
That red clay is no joke. 😖 I lived in SC for 20yrs and it was my only complaint. I love your videos, you have a nice southern voice and laugh. It's so cool to see the relics you pull out of the ground. Good Luck and happy hunting!! Thanks for sharing.
Gin another great video. I always look forward to watch your videos. You never know whats going too come out of the ground. I hunt here in Central Texas. You have way too much fun.lol Well be sweet and stay safe. Keep swinging I will catch you on your next hunt.
Gin, that is a fuse that came out of a projectile of some kind. I found one similar to that one time and it is a Parrott shell fuse. The 2 little holes (One of them is bent out of shape on the one you found) is where two metal prongs on the fuse-removal tool goes into the holes to either remove fuse or screw it back into the projectile. The length of the fuse will give you an approximate idea of how thick the projectile is where the fuse goes in.
Thank you. It was cool to get such awesome finds when I went fully mentally prepared that I might not get much because of the extreme soil conditions.🙂
Masterful day, Gin. Those are really rare finds ("fusees")....Gunners (cannons) set timed fuses to explode the "shell" overhead in the air for "maximum dispersion" of destructive fragments...to wound, mame, kill (neutralize) as many of the enemy as possible. FINDING intact fusees...is, well, exceedingly rare....and you got TWO on the same hunt day. Outstanding !!!
Hard soil will dig up easily with a cordless, hammer drill with a chisel bit... You can holster this drill on your belt for easy carry... Blessings: James... 🌿🕊
Gin, it looks like you were detecting at the Beauregard farm near Brandy Station. It is a fantastic site to find Civil War relics. John and Rose run a great hunt and you are right about the people that hunt DIV. They are all great detectorists and love to share their knowledge with new DIV hunters. Great finds. Congrats. Missed seeing you at the NY hunt.
I feel like I missed seeing so many people at the NY hunt. It was so brief and busy that there just didn’t seem to be much time to socialize. You are right about Beauregard; it was my best hunt by far. I’ll be doing a Coles hill video too, but it was tough.😰 The whole experience was fantastic though.🙂🍀
Nice video Gin, awesome finds. Montana is officially down for the winter, 3 degrees this morning and things probably won’t thaw out until late February or early March.
Going out today to do a little metal detecting and hopes that I can find those beautiful eyes and that gorgeous smile this is Bobby I hope you have a blessed day good luck with your metal detecting
More civil war battles where fought in Virginia (130) than any other state in the nation. This is part of history few know. Keep digging, keep finding.
Not only are you going to find civil war relics but you will likely find the remains from both sides. How you deal with that is something you should think about. Every where you find relics is also hallowed ground.
I live in Virginia and we done some work in Buckingham county and some guys i worked with found what seemed to be some graves in a wooded area near the subdivision but never heard anything after they reported it. Don't know where you were looking.
I hope you saved the pull tab it was a very rare relic from the revolutionary war it was off a sweet tea can! The british had to have their tea time and they added sugar to boost the soldiers stamina. Lol all joking aside you are getting some great bucket list relics!

I've found Union and Confederate Beerdaloons before. 🤣
I admire your determination and not quitting digging in that hard dirt 👍😊
