Congratulations to Beau and Mike. What an opening day. Can't get much better than that. Y'all got me fired up. Headed to Colorado in a couple weeks for the first rifle season with a friend.
That, was an excellent shot, right on the money, congrats to all. So many Elk, I said I would never return to hunt Elk, but that video has whetted my appetite, if I give you my wife's email can you convince her to agree to me returning, please?🤣
Thanks for making and sharing suchh an awesome video! I'm curious, does Wyoming's first rifle season overlap with the rut? Crazy how many bulls I've seen in OR while hiking my bow around that were to far that would have been super easy shots with my rifle.
From what I've seen it depends on the unit I was there last year with deer and pronghorn tags. Rifle elk was open in the elk unit that overlaped our pronghorn unit and we saw a good bull with a harem of 20 or so cows.
Mike my kinda of hunter makes his mind up opportunity knocks once one shot dead bull no hesitation yup what a fantastic hunt but made this look easy CONGRATULATIONS BOTH OF YOU
What bullet are you using in your 308? I can't wait for deer season in Texas and Alabama. I'm having a hard time figuring which Howa I want to use, I used my 243 last year and bang bang, two axis hit the dirt and I had both to gut and butcher in one morning. This year it's between the 308 and the 06. Since the 308 is a 24 bull cerakote camouflage, it will be used for shots over the winter wheat field and the 06 in the woods. These guns are accurate, but after 50-60 rounds they're tack driving machines. I suspect that they are being bullet lapped and the bore is getting shot smooth. I always clean my rifles thoroughly after every range session and hunt when it's been fired. The Weatherby Vanguard is the same gun with different roll stamps and a shrouded bolt. I'm crazy about my Howas and Vanguards. Both are extremely accurate.
Hey Randy, where can a Florida boy go and hunt pronghorn, mule deer, and elk without costing an arm and leg. I don’t want to hire a guide because on a LEO’s salary, I can’t afford it.
I really dont care for the pod cast I prefer watching the hunts. I can't afford to pay for watching u tube shows so I try to watch comment and lie so it helps your channel.
I suspect most people who have just run 100 yards up a steep slope and are breathing hard would consider that moving elk to be a bad shot opportunity. But, there are a few "super hunters" who wouldn't give it a second thought......and a prayer.
A good hunter knows his limitations and won't take a shot he doesn't believe he can make. There have been times for any elk hunter where you've just hiked up a ridiculous slope and heart is racing and breathing is erratic and you have a shot opportunity that you can't take because you wouldn't be accurate.
Good reminder for the wind change when moving from warm & sunny to shady & cool

No way I'm actually here early!
Well done! Thanks for watching!
Surprised it's possible to get a rifle bull tag during the rut and still that many elk👍
Easy they just limit the number of tags and adjustments are made depending on elk populations
They give away about 3,000 of them to non-residents every year.
After you take them, how long does it take to get him to a refrigerator?
Congrats guys on an awesome day. Just curious what elevation were you hunting at and what time of year was this goven all the screaming

Mike was using a 300 win mag with 180 grain NOSLER E-Tips.

308?
Yes very good video😅
"Conservation bro"
When do we get 2023 content?
Probably next year.
New content first goes on Fresh Tracks+ - www.freshtracks.tv/
Then it gets published here on RUclips from six to ten months later.
Sad I have to wait so long now to see videos
@@Fresh_Tracks that’s a bummer I wish I could afford that it’s just one more subscription I can’t afford and it’s not cool I have to wait so long

They are free on RUclips tho?
Might be time for randy to hang it up if 360 yards is too far.
