- Uh oh.
Ultra Mode is a patch that you can apply to the game. What it basically does is double the amount of bullets, double their speed, both, or something else. This makes for a fun challenge most of the time and sort of gives you a difficulty above lunatic.
There are patches for almost all the Windows games and they can be downloaded here:

(Unzip the thxxu.zip in the game folder and patch the Japanese thxx.exe).
Yes, the patch gives you autobombs if you're curious.

Rewatching this again, and i must admit Byakuren reminds me of Queen Larsa in this mode. Luckily Sanae is not Reco and got frog nukes :D

Apparently, Murasa's survival spell on ULTRA mode has a safespot in the middle which NORMAL mode doesnt have.

On another note, Murasa's fight looked amazing. Exactly what an ultra mode should be, with possible exception of sinkable vortex/sinker ghost. (Diagonal bullets are aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa)

At 8:30? It's normal to gain a lot of graze by being on Ichirin's eye like that, though it only gives 512 graze instead of 1024 without the ultra patch. Some players even follow Ichirin around and stay on her eye to graze every wave of bullets.

Assuming perfect deathbomb reflex(or autobomb), I don't think it matters either way.

But, if this patches gives autobomb, wouldn't it be easier to hunt for the green ufo as 3 green ufos = 4 bombs thus hits while 3 red ufo give 1,2lives = 3 hits
And I can't beat Shou on easy mode...

i find it quite weird, every spellcard there was captured at least onse, and as far as i can see he isn't capable of doing that himself, so this probebly isn't a patch...

For one thing, the Lunatic in this game is insane itself (Mushihimesama does not top that, that's about Shuusou Gyoku extra level of difficulty...)
On a lucky day, I can beat that. I can't beat Normal on UFO. Think about that for a minute.
I disagree. I've beaten Mushihimesama and it's not comparable to UFO on even hard mode. Sure the bullet density is higher but that hardly matters as you can see exactly how to dodge everything and rarely does it ever force you into impossible situations for making poor decisions, not to mention the game autobombs for you. To the uninitiated player it may look harder but really it is not lol.

This is a buffed up version of the hardest difficulty.
So compare it justly.
And don't even get me started on Futari.
Ori LoL as someone who has 1cc'd every official touhou game including the recent trial (15) as well as mushihimesama and futari on their respective hardest difficulties i'm perfectly aware touhou ultra is just a patch to make the game have higher bullet density but i'm also saying mushihimesama ultra still isn't harder than UFO on the official lunatic difficulty . Like i said the unitiated player wouldn't notice it's easier simply because the bullet density is higher but if you understand the game it's so easy to deal with due to the sheer number of workarounds, safe spots or easily streamed patterns once you've figured out the gimmicks behind them. It might just be me but I 1cc'd mushihimesama ultra waaaay faster than i 1cc'd UFO on lunatic. Another point is that i also feel a lot less strained even in futari due to the fact that you have so much firepower in focused mode and the bosses have such a large hitbox that you usually end the pattern relatively quickly. Don't underestimate the pressure of having to stay within a confined area to do any significant damage to the boss with patterns that have a lot more HP, especially if you're using a purely forward focused shot type. Also did I mention the game autobombs for you? Again, could just be me, dunno but i personally think futari is overrated.
+Ori Just gonna say even if the bullets are dense, it doesn't mean it's hard. Like TH15's stage 6 with the micro dodge; despite it just being a circular wave of bullets and looking simple on the non-spell cards of Junko, it still is hard. I've seen Futrari Ultra and it absolutely does not look as hard as UFO.
