- Last Comer is one of the newest products in the fully-fledged Touhou fangame department.
The gimmick might seem a bit familiar to some people, however it's a bit different.
The stars that fall from the sky fill your trance meter and different stars have different values. Once the meter is full you automatically get a trance, you cannot activate it manually.
During trance the normal yellow stars will change into high-value blue stars. These are worth millions of points.
This of course means that you'll have to do some star juggling if you want to activate trances at opportune times. Dodging stars is exceptionally difficult as they have a gigantic hitbox.
As far as I can tell is the slowdown during the final boss nonspells intentional. I don't know why the hud explodes at the end though.
Also dat bomb glitch at the first death.

Stage 1 Boss > Sheep, a recurring symbol in Bible.
Stage 2 Boss > Don't really have a relation with the christianism, the stage 2 make various references to Touhou 6 (Mid bosses, music, boss and spell cards)
Stage 3 Boss > Based in one of 3 Magis, who presented Jesus after his birth.
Stage 4 Boss > Satan/Lucifer.
Stage 5 Boss > Michael, the archangel.
Stage 6 Boss > The mostly obvious one, it Jesus.
Extra Stage Boss > Menthe, a naiad who was transformed into a mint plant by Persephone as punishment for attempting to seduce Hades. A bit of a shakeup in that it's not based on Christianity, but Greek mythology.
I can't believe it took me until the final boss to realize this game was Bible themed.

Iesua tries desperately to crash Danmakufu by making at each time FPS-dropping non spell patterns that look like Miko's, but at least hers do nothing to the FPS.

I always liked the idea of having more Christian representation in Touhou. I mean, I totally understand why there isn’t much (Touhou is set in the east, not the west), but I feel like Christian lore (and monotheism in general) has a TON bring to the table in terms of Gensokyo’s religious landscape. IDK, I just really think ZUN could implement ideas about monotheism into Touhou in an interesting way; I’d love to see his take on it.
IF anything, this game's part of my headcannon for Touhou, like Corin being a distant cousin of Remilia's that just sort of pops up every now and again to freak people out.
And Marry is just too damn cute.

Either way, it's nice to see the Touhou fanbase thinking outside the box. I wouldn't mind if this became Touhou fanbase cannon, that is how much I like the idea of this fanmade game. Think about it, one of the 3 dominant religions on the planet coming to Gensokyo where forgotten Gods come to find new faith. All we need is a fanmade of Islam and Hindu and we got ourselves one heck of a religious battle in Gensokyo.

I am literally watching Jaimers fight Touhou Jesus.
Good run by the way. Game seems a bit weirdly balanced with the score extends, but at least they're not infinite.
She opened a sealed book which caused the meteor to fall that caused the Morning Star to rise above the Sun, increasing the power of youkai, alerting Reimu and Marisa, and causing Remilia to send Sakuyu out to stop them.
I think there's more to it than that, but that's the gist of it.
Those star power up things appear way too often

To balance it, difficulty relative, everything is much easier. You still can't cheese the bosses that well, except for Iesua, even on lunatic... it's balanced, pretty much.
Just found out about this game's existence, tbh I wish Touhou had more Christian representation in canon, there is a lot that can be done with Christian mythology, I also really like that the final boss is just Jesus in his 2hu form.
Also, Marry is just so damn cute
One thing that bothers me is the fact the bosses have the circular health bar around the sprite, but the default Danmakufu health bar is also there.
The border mechanic breaks the game. I don't understand why you're rewarded spell card bonuses for using it.
well, if that's the case, you will need to dodge the items as well, since as soon as you get 1 full meter, the mechanic turns on.
The omake profile also alludes to the more symbolic nature of it, apparently the wine also refers to Iesua's blessed blood. So it's a simple-seeming but far reaching ability.
As for fighting, Iesua is fighting to forgive all that come before her, and in a way even in being defeated she wins.
I like how the bosses reference some patterns and adds a bit of twist... like:
First boss nonspells: Kinda like Koishi's
Secon midboss nonspell: Kogasa= Remilia's nonspells
Touhou Jesus fights by multiplying her danmaku.
This is genius, when you come to think about it.
Reminds me of the story where Jesus fed all those people.

I like how the known faires (Daiyousei, Cirno and the Three Faires of Light) have some cameos. And just when I heard "Lunate Elf" in the second stage Daiyousei and Cirno showed up.

For the people raising a few eyebrows over the thematic of this game, just something to say.
Japan is not a Christian nation by any stretch of the imagination; this script does to it what a lot of games do to other mythologies from around the world. Take concepts from a mythology/religion that you are not used to and toy with them for entertainment's sake.
It is not meant to be accurate, or sacrilegious, it's meant to be something fun to play. Nothing more.
So the second stage boss is basically Remilia? Looks like her, throws spears at you and uses Remilia-patented bullets.
And why does Iesua summon "the great fairies" at 30:30?
Can you do a run without going into trance mode? I get that the stars appear often, but you seem to be going out of your way to collect them so as to cheese the spell cards.

Your gauge amount doesn't go away, not even when you continue and there are parts of the game where the stars are spammed en masse.
And they have a GIGANTIC hitbox - especially during boss fights, trying to 'dodge' them can be a ginormous chore in itself.
For some reason, every time I download this, the stage one and two pictures for the bosses are missing. And each time I try to run Danmakufu to play this, it always crashes. Do you have any idea why?
Does anyone know how to fix the glitch that makes your screen freeze when the stage 1 boss comes? and you can't do anything but close the program.

Soooo... Why are people upset about the christian theme again? I mean we already got 3 fairly big religions canonically covered and that is ok? Is it because someone just made a fangame where the theme is a religion that you are in? Are you still 5 years old? Jeez, talk about beeing childish! Anyway, this is a pretty nice hack even though the border mechanic is extremly overpowered.

I downloaded this, but am not sure how to actually run it. There doesn't seem to be any sort of launcher program within the TLC folder. Not having downloaded Danmakufu, is that somehow relevant? Thanks.
you need to have danmakufu to run this game i'm assuming, if not it never hurts to try:)
It's a Danmakufu script, so, yeah, Danmakufu's actually a pretty big part of running it.
is it possible to make the game keep the frame rate when there's full of bullet?
there's actually an option in most of the recent touhou games where you can make the game lag when it's full of bullets

Yes, it's a glitch. Jaimers himself said so, it results in the game running forever afterwards, you can't save a replay.
It's also never happened to me.
Ori Oh yeah, just realized it actually changed into the default Danmakufu HUD.
This system reminds me much more of PCB's borders than of TD's trances.
Did anyone else notice that the fish coming from the right side of Iesua's first spell were upside down?
And in her second spell, what's the point of the see through orbs? Just a sort of distraction? And why does she summon the five fairies for her third spell? Just wondering~

is it just me or does it seem like a lot of spellcards in the fangames have really high and really low HP? some of them just seem to dispel extremely quick while others seem to take forever.

In canon touhou, the closest thing is obviously Byakuren, well, you could count Yumemi because she uses crosses, but that's the only thing she got.

if your computer is a normal one, you will definitely encounter some lags in the game, the last time i tried this on my laptop, the game speed was reduced to half due to the danmaku intensity...
the star system in the game practically made the game much easier since u get a free bomb every minute(?) but in return the danmaku intensity is really some crazy hell

4 years late but ur supposed to put it into the danmakufu script folder. then run danmakufu and select this game.

I looked in game's script - those files exist, but their name is spelled in wrong symbols (non-english, unlike everything other), probably they were in Japanese originally, but some problem with ierogliph encoding messed everything for non-japanese people.

+OhShitYgolonac The fight takes place above Youkai Mountain, Mumumu and Michel were fought near the Moriya Shrine/Wind God's Lake.
She's angry at pretty much everyone basically.
You have to also download Touhou Danmakufu 0.12m or something like that, google it. (Important: Set your computer to Japanese locale for Danmakufu to be able to run.) Then you take the Last Comer stuff you downloaded and put them in the script sub-folder in the Danmakufu folder. Then you open the Danmakufu programme, and open TLC from there. You can also use google translate for help with the moonspeak if you need it. :o)
That stage 4 boss is a mixture of Utsuho, Koishi and Nue

Honestly to likely represent to three places of the after life heaven, hell and purgatory.
CC Shade It's there to represent the final battle between good and evil that's supposed to take place when the end of the world. The card itself is called "Those who come during the end of times", which is why Michel, Janet and Mumumu (who represents Lucifer) come out. Something interesting at least during my playthroughs of this game is that it's easier to shoot down Janet and Michel than it is to shoot down Mumumu. >.>;

From the Relavation. The Angels battle the crimson dragon known as Satan. It is an "caught in the middle" type of Spellcard, like in various 2D games featuring Mokou and Kaguya fighting while you need to dodge them.

Overall this was impressive, but there were some glaring issues with it, namely the rehashing of music motifs and spellcard aspects.
Also, why stars if we're dealing with angels?
And Jesua. Really. We're fighting Jesus now?
But I must say, that final spellcard had one hell of an aesthetic wow-factor.

Excuse me, but how in the hell did Jesus and co. turn into women? I know for a fact that Prince Shotoku somehow became Miko after going into his (her) slumber, but Iesua? What exactly caused her to take on a feminine form? Was it because the girls of Gensokyo have never fought men during an incident before, and therefore Iesua revealed herself to them as a girl?
Either way, Iesua is a great character, her design and theme are cool and it's noticeable that the devs put a lot of effort into making her an accurate representation of the source material. I wouldn't mind learning more about Christianity if it was presented to me in this way.

I think it's inevitable. If you're going to involve christianity, then that also includes some reference or appearance of the Christ. Given the non-lethal nature of spellcard battles, it's not much of a stretch to have Reimu & Co go against touhou Jesus. She did get downplayed a bit, because if I recall Iesua's power is merely the ability to turn water to wine instead of all the stuff Jesus was capable of (even if some of her spellcards allude to resurrection, etc)
Yuumei Moroboshi he also multiplied food and cured a lot of people. His most aggressive things would be expelling demons and probably being mad at the rabbis and merchants at a temple (she could have a spell where she "whips")
