BattlefrontJD, now that's a name I've not heard in a long time!
In this video I'll be covering the new public alpha 1.4 for i2Bros' much anticipated Battles of the Clone Wars mod.
Summary:
Now available to everyone, this era mod offers a complete
revamp for many of the stock maps as well as Attack on Venator, Umbara: Shadow Forest and Coruscant: Modern Warfare, inspired by the 2008 TV Series: Star Wars The Clone Wars.
This release includes a complete revamp for CIS and Republic sides, consisting of: new units, fan favourite Clone Troopers, Clone legions, new weapons, vehicles, animations, sounds and TCW-style hero units.
Kamino features the Kamino Security Team and Clone Cadets for the Republic, as well as the ARC Trooper Commanders Blitz and Colt. The CIS side offers new units such as MagnaGuards, BX-Commando Droids, Tactical Droids and OOM Commanders. Shaak Ti is the new hero unit for the Republic, featuring a new model ported by Deviss, however this is set to be just a placeholder until a TCW-style model takes its place. The stock Jango Fett remains the hero unit for the CIS. I would also suggest that replacing the B2 Super Battle Droids on this map with the Aqua Droid model ported by Deviss from CW Adventures would provide a more lore accurate experience and a nice bit of variation.
All in all, this is a solid public alpha and holds a lot of promise for this mod at release. Go ahead and give a download for yourself!
Pros:
Excellent new Star Wars: The Clone Wars inspired models for vehicles, weapons, classes and even heroes!
Good attention to detail: new sounds and visual effects make for a very immersive experience
Includes support for select custom maps as well as a majority of the stock maps
Fan favourite characters from the show including Blitz, Colt and Shaak Ti
Lots of bugs fixed from private alpha: no more floating icons, localization fixed and Commando Droids can't fly anymore (see Let's Play #1)
Cons:
Some crashes to desktop still present on in Umbara: Shadow Forest, stock Coruscant and Coruscant: Modern Warfare
CIS heroes all still remain stock
