Totally agree with you that the message needs getting out there. If you haven’t seen it already Amir Zachery made a mini doc called “50 minutes to save the world” which goes into the water pollution issue in great depth. Keep up the great work bru.
Hi Jacques, these are really great shots and a great project about turtles. I also use the Sony FX6 for my projects. I have been using a new underwater Housing for Sony fx6 Cinema Camera. If you want, I can send you pictures of it. best regards, Reinhard
Great, amazing, wonderful video. Thank you so much for uploading it! Since you are using FX6, could you show what are the best settings to use with Cine-EI?
Thanks for the informative breakdown Jacques. This was a film worthy of being screened on Netflix. One question, regarding the exposure, did you over expose slog3 for any of the scenes?
Good work Jacques. Nice images. Would love to see a set up of your rig here. Looks practical and relatively light. Monitor? Battery power? Handles? Any chance of this?
Thank you so much! The rig was a Redrock Micro Shoulder mount (with follow focus & handles) with just a basic magic arm and Ninja V Monitor/recorder. I used the long lasting Sony BP Batteries so no V-mounts. Hope that helps!
Amazing and beautiful work as always! Thank you for sharing this BTS look, it's incredibly helpful to see things like this. Can you please tell me what drone was used for those awesome areial shots? Thanks Jacques!
Thank you so much Branislav! I think the Ninja V is amazing for the A7sIII but only if it doesn't slow you down. My main reasons for the Ninja V is the extra big display, the wavefrom and the ability to custom load my own luts. Having an extra recording also doesn't hurt but I enjoy working with the internal files.
Hi. Great documentary. I like this type of doc. I even noticed the key light in the background (interview). It doesn’t disturb me but eventually better placed on the other side to have the reflection outside the frame…. By the way why didn’t you light the far-side of the face?
Thanks mate! Didn't really have any other options regarding the reflection, it showed up in every angle we tried and we only had a few minutes before it opened up to the public so I decided to go for a soft light over hard light with the knowledge that 99.9% won't know it's a reflector/softbox unless they see the BTS. Having her sit far-side showed more of the reflection so I made the call to set it up as is.
@@jacques_crafford Hi. I appreciate that you answered. I was just interested how you noticed it and solved it. I think there were a lot of difficulties during a shoot. And you as a pro know how to fix or just accept them. What would you do next time in a similar setup? Would eventually help pulling the subject more far away from the background?
Did you shoot in raw?? In this kind of situations where the daylight is changing rapidly or you're forced to use external lights for fill and depth , how do you set your wb (if not shot in raw) ?? I used to set a fixed wb for a daylong shoot but couple of days ago someone told me that I have to set wb for each changing shots as I want to get the perfect wb for that scene. but this method seems very cumbersome if I want to match colors in post. Your thoughts on this topic would be very helpful as you are working on multiple commercial projects.
Hey Nafis! Thanks for your question. I didn't shoot in RAW, all of the footage was in the normal ALL-I (Intra Codec). Regarding White Balance, I change the WB for every scene especially when the light is mixed. I just use the Kelvin Temperature Setting. For most situations there are set temperatures based on the light for example Daylight 5600K, Cloudy, 6500K, Tungsten 3200K but often I find myself having to balance in between because of other variables. Using a white reflector as reference can help a lot but I've trained my eye to get the WB close enough and the rest I can fix in post, still it's important to get it as close to right as possible, and never shoot in Auto or one fixed setting. Hope that helps!
This was wonderful, as a beginner in the filmmaking world, behind the scenes videos like this are amazing. Thank you for sharing this
Thank you Caleb, so glad to hear you enjoyed this! Only a pleasure, cant wait to share more!

Thank you man, as always I learned a lot and one more thing, there's a quote " there is no little action if we're 7 billion doing it "
Yes bro! Thanks man, I love that quote!
Thank you for sharing this. I learned so much. Please make 'n video on how to make a good behind the scene video.

Amazing project. Very nice to see how you worked with the FX6 on set. Powerful little cine cam :-)
Thank you so much Simon, I love working with the FX6!
So interesting, thank you 😁
Yay thanks Lauren, only a pleasure!
wonderfull add haha!
Thank you!
Stunning video Jacques, cinematic and informative, the perfect blend! :) Just wondering what is the Shoulder rig you are using or recommend? cheers
Thank you so much! I used a RedRock Micro Shoulder Rig

You're welcome! I made an entire video about that, it will go live on the Alpha-Universe soon. alphauniverse-mea.com/events/
Incredible!! Did you use active stabilization or rely mostly on the rig?
Thanks! The FX6 doesn't have any in body stabilisation so I relied on the rig and did some stabilisation in post :)
THANKS!!!

Woah that's a huge compliment, thanks so much dude! I hardly over expose S-log3 because I'm using the PHANTOM LUTS.
@@jacques_crafford Thanks man. I'll be sure to give the Phantom Luts a try. I remember you recommending them in one of your videos.

Very good Jaques 👏 your rigged fx3 is bigger than my fx6 😂 best cinematic greetings from a little german YT filmmaker
Aaaah thanks man, I'm really torn between those two cams but I loooove the FX6! Hope you're having fun with it!

Thanks I really appreciate that! The Aerial shots were captured with a DJI Air 2. Thanks for supporting my channel!
Beautiful, did you use Phantom Luts on this project?
Thank you Lukas! Yes I did, the Phantom Luts ROCK!
Hey Jacques! Your videos are absolutely stunning. I am owner of A7S3 and would like to ask you if you recomended to buy a Ninja V for it? Thanks!

im using tamron 28-75 for my a7siii. Is the upgrade to the fe 24-70 FE GM worth it? Thank Jacques 🙏🏻
In some ways I would say yes but it depends where you deliver. I think 90% of people won't spot the difference.

Jacques sorry,
You confirm that with the FX6 it is not necessary to over-exposed its S-LOG 3 at 2 to put the Phantom Luts?
Hi Moussa, yes 100% if you're using Phantom LUTs you just expose for the highlights or for skintone depending on the scene
The reflection of the key light in the interview didn't bother you?
Not really. The director and I spoke about it and if you didn't see the BTS you probably wouldn't have picked up on it :)
Did you go to film school to learn how to do this ?
Nope, learned most of it on RUclips actually :)
paid by sony?
Yeah they paid me for the main film but not for this specific video :)
