    I love my SCO, and I wouldn't trade it. But you have to know the Mil system and memorize your holds to take advantage of it. If you just want to drop M855 from an M4 on target, the Tango 6 is easier. Of course, you can get the VCOG with a BDC reticle similar to the Tango 6.

      @doktorfaustus 10 месяцев назад +1

      While I wouldn't disagree with your preference, it's not a clear win across the board for the NF. The VCOG's 1x is noticeably closer to a true 1x, with better FOV and less of the scope body visible. The reticle is much easier to pick up on the VCOG without illumination (with illumination the NF is much brighter, however, but without it is very fine in the middel at 1x, similar to the way he described the Tango 6T). One nice point in favor of the ATACR, however, is that even with a mount it is still lighter than the VCOG 1-8. The VCOG is a bit of a pig, even for a 1-8.

    The VCOG is roughly 6 ounces heavier at moat with mounta (10 ounces if you dont include the lightweight mount that comes with the sig) the VCOG is also a 34mm main tube vs a 30mm main tube on the sig which allowa more light. Get a lightwwight mount for the VCOG and you can shave an ounce or two but the point of the vcog is durability which usually adds weight.

Tried to get the MK218 308, seems PWS isn’t doing any runs now or in the near future.😡 Had to part with 2x the $ and went with a LWRC REPR308, not enough time on it to form a good opinion but you can’t compare the price vs performance of the PWS.

      @doktorfaustus 10 месяцев назад +1

      It's a simple concept: the reticle the USMC chose for the SCO is graduated in mils. You do your own computation for your bullet BC, velocity, etc, and hold the appropriate subtension for the range you're shooting at. This requires a much higher degree of training on the part of the shooter than a BDC, but is flexible across different weapon platforms or even a different load fired from the same rifle.

      Honestly, 300-400 yds is not much of a challenge for either of these optics. You'll need to take it out to 600 yds or so to realistically evaluate how easily a trained shooter can get hits with the 6x and its BDC vs the 8x with the mil reticle. 5.56 shoots so flat that for a 300 yd shot the BDC does not come into play.

I just don't see the point in placing a LPVO on a 5.56 rifle. I personally wouldn't shoot anything past 300 yards with a 5.56 and a 3.5 or 4 power optic is fine for those ranges.

Last I checked , they'd gone up quite a bit in price. It's abused constantly because it bounces around in tractors and trucks every day on the farm. Regularly take out coyotes out to 400 yards with ease. Reticle is great for hunting. It pairs up with the sig buckmaster rangefinder that gives u holds for whatever range u need.
